    Thank you Dennys Wang for this amazing review. I recently purchased 2 of the sonic mini 8K machines 2 months ago because of the 22 micron pixel size on the screen, just prior to knowing the Mini 8KS was going to be released and I had no clue about the Anti-Alising issues prior to buying the 2 machines on it which I am bummed about. Hopefully they will be able to find a fix for them. But I did just purchased this Mini 8KS tonight and can't wait to get the machine and test it out. one of the reasons was from all of your videos I have seen about this machine. Like you I was very leary of the single rail system because I prefer a dual rail printer for it's stability. But I have seen so many amazing prints from this machine that I had to jump in and buy one. Not that I needed another machine but because I want that amazing print quality for my prints.

    of all the announcements in the last 2 weeks, phrozen definitely stood out as the most ho hum especially with so much of the community calling them out to fix all the broken issues and bad customer service for both the mini 8k and especially the mighty 8k

    This may sound dumb, but the prints from the Mini 8k look “softer” than the prints from the Mini 8ks. Especially smaller details. It seems like the intensity of the UV makes the resin cure a touch crisper for the 8ks than for the 8k

    • @wangdennys
      @wangdennys  9 месяцев назад +1

      It could be because my mini 8k has issue with antialiasing, it cannot get rid of the voxels that may cause details become soft.

    mini 8ks looks pretty good for $270, but I have to say compared to a 10.3" 8K Nova3D Whale3 SE for $499, the winner is Whale3 SE by far for particularly someone who is a prosumer or higher level user.
    The details on the mini 8K/S are ok on their own, way better against 'competitors' like Anycubic and Elegoo, but embarrassing vs. the huge Whale3 SE. The Whale3 SE can and does print astonishingly well *using supports with 0.25mm tips* at .050mm layer height, the tiniest minis to big figures and also functional mechanical parts flat on the build plate.
    I admit I'm a serious proponent of products that give the best price/performance with as much user configuration/parameter control as possible.
    In this case the only 10" 8K contender that the Nova3D Whale3 SE _might_ have would be the new Creality Mage Pro, yet reviewers are already reporting serious looking problems with the Mage Pro, both build-quality and print-quality issues...
    In any case, you have among the best practical reviews and videos about 3D printers on RUclips, and excellent presentation and production in your videos, thank you very much!
    You should see if Nova3D will send you a Whale3 SE to review, more people need to know how good these are.

    Does the mini-8kS also use the standard phrozen plastic threads for the build plate armature to z-rod interface, as they did on the mini 4k? If so, what you saw was the plastic threads "beding" to the z-rod. If it's the same design it will be a spring loaded pair of plastic threads. That could easily explain the changes to the z-wobble lines. I can't believe I am actually thinking of buying another Phrozen product after getting burned with the pre-order mini 4K and the absolute disaster that thing has been. Only recently even started printing again as the thing soured me so badly on 3D printing it's been sitting in the closet on it's cart for over a year. The mini-8kS does seem to be a better design, but I just don't know if I can trust the single rail. I don't want another burn.

      @@wangdennys I've never had a problem with Phrozen's customer service. They were actually helpful in so much as when I got the mini 4k and it ate the plastic nuts 3 prints in. I got them fast and free. Their engineering team even contacted me and we tried out best to get the printer to "perform". As you found out, the old mini 4k was simply flawed engineering and nothing short of a double rail rebuild would get it to perform as advertised because of the deflection in the z-axis and that would take aftermarket parts. My only complaint was the whole process extended beyond the return window and they didn't extend that offer to me. The design of all the mini series printers afterwards including the double rail in the older 8K showed they clearly understood their engineering mistakes of the mini4K. My concern is.. is the engineering sound? Is the older 8k a superior unit with double rails? Is the 1s minimum print exposure being hard-coded something they will "patch out" with a firmware update? From your video, it would seem that they've solved the core design problems that made the mini 4k such a disaster... but.. I am uncertain. Never had a problem with phrozen's communication. I really should have been refunded on the printer because it was flawed product at it's very core. Other than that.. dunno.

      So, their store page saying it's currently supported by that whole list of splicers, legally false advertising in the US and grounds for returns. Their marketing team needs to be aware of the legal side of mixed timetables and how they need to word their claims. They can say supported Soon, or in a few more words that each one supports it in closed beta builds already that should be releasing soon, but as it was... not correct.
      Well, support was quick enough to get back, so I doubt too many people would bother pushing on it legally in this case, but still something they should be aware of. Not the smoothest starting experience of their product I can say that. Get product, pop open a splicer they list and try to prep cones of callibration and some test items, find chitubox doesn't work. Open Lychee that they also list that I have, it doesn't work. Not surprised they don't have the unit itself on the presets, but can't even manually select that format on them in custom settings, it's just not present on the current builds. Did I just buy a brick that requires me to use one specific slicer that after 14 days (if it even worked) I'd have to pay for? Ya, strong anxiety and some anger got mixed in right then. Cooled down, googled, didn't find the answer, so tried posting a few places and on their support in case I just missed something.

    Ok! Here's a warning against it, build plate was uneven, prints didn't stick to the left side, and on the third print and second failure the piece that fell got crushed between the plate and the screen tearing a tiny hole in the nFEP, luckily it was small enough that no resin managed to get through, but IPA when cleaning was able to...
    So ya, build quality/reliability... Got my new printer, and right out of this high I need to replace a build plate, replace an nFEP, and was scarily close to needing to replace the screen. And Phrozen claims to have no warranty on these parts if they fail even on new orders. It's been a bit over a day now since I sent the help request about that uneven build plate and no reply.
    So... buy a Sonic Mini 8K S... do three prints, two with failures... possibly need to shell out a bunch more for replacement parts... these tiny couple test minis are the most expensive miniatures I have ever bought... and I question if it's worth it to buy the new parts if they don't replace those, sunken cost phalacy and all, yes, it would be down $300 plus dollars... but if I put out another $120 and get another miss and failure... Oof... not sure what everyone elses experiences are who are getting these, but mine is definitely not good and frankly just terrible. Now, I can't print, and am stuck with that anxiety of waiting for them to respond.... Would NOT recommend.

    • @terricon4
      @terricon4 Год назад

      @@wangdennys Ya, the first plate was just bent, outright. No fixing that, the left side was not good. Got a replacement plate, two papers method still isn't good enough. This one is flat at the start, but if I tighten it so it wont shift vertically then just doing that, even not nearly as tight as I'd like, is able to bend the plate enough to lose grip on the sides. Not even using the hex wrench, just finger tightening was enough to bend it notably. It's a design flaw, that they seem to ignore when I report.
      And to top it off, when I left a review on the printer, I came back after a day and they'd deleted it. So ya, I don't trust them anymore and don't think I'll ever buy anything Phrozen again, and don't really recommend it to anyone else currently. Good customer support is nice... but when they just give you another bad item as a replacement for your first bad item.... and delete reviews they don't like...
