very informative. As I recall, he's mentioned that he has a degree in geology. By watching many of his videos, I've learned what to look for, kind of rocks, landscape, etc. While he's a character, and I suspect that he's playing a role (more or less); Jeff seems to have fun not only searching for gold himself, but also teaching those watching. BTW: be sure not to meet up and cross SLIM, another character you'll meet in other videos with Jeff. :)

Hey Jeff, you better listen, son! This was a very informative video on finding gold in the desert. I live in West Texas, and the little bit of gold we have here is not worth the effort, but starting just over the state line in New Mexico, the gold is much better. I'm interested in particular in southeast New Mexico just west of the city of Carlsbad and just north of the Texas state line. I know gold was found in the White Cities, New Mexico area and around Queen, New Mexico. I have been exploring the area south of White Cities for about 2 1/2 years with little success. Recently, I discovered an area where it seems I have found gold in every sample I've taken. I started out taking samples of all the different rocks I found out there. There were rounded hard rock samples, and there were conglomerate samples, then there was this white material I found. On the exposed rock samples, the rock was fairly soft and chalky. I could scratch it with my fingernail. As I dug deeper, I found that the rock became significantly harder, and both on the surface samples and the below grade samples, these rocks had what appeared to be black veins. I took a small pick and removed about a tablespoon of this vein material because there were sparkley specks in this black vein material. Under magnification, the black material appeared to be very fine black sand, and the speckley bits appeared to be very fine gold. All this vein material passed a 100 mesh screen. It was pretty fine. I brought 10 buckets of this white rock with the black veins home and ran it through my crusher. I took a 50-pound sample of the crushed material and screened it through a 100 mesh screen, a 200 mesh screen, and a 400 mesh screen. 12 pounds 5 ounces of material were retained on the 100 mesh screen. 27 pounds 3 ounces were retained on the 200 mesh screen. 6 pounds 9 ounces were retained on the 400 mesh screen, and the remaining 3 pounds 3 ounces passed through the 400 mesh screen. I processed each of the above screen sizes separately by using the mercury method. Let's call these samples 1, 2, 3, and 4. At this point, I had to switch over to grams for better accuracy. Sample 1 contained 5.421 grams. Sample 2 contained 8.592 grams. Sample 3 contained 4.785 grams. Sample 4 contained 1.978 grams. The total of the gold recovered was 20.777 grams. I'm new at this, but I'm trying to be somewhat analytical about how I approach this discovery. I claimed the 80 acres surrounding what I believe to be the source of this gold. The topography in this area is fairly flat, which is rather typical for this area of southeastern New Mexico. The feature that attracted me to this area in the first place was a mound or cone-shaped hill in this otherwise featureless landscape. In every sample I have ever taken from this area has contained gold in it. How should I proceed?
devito501 Lol howdy Danny were all doing great over hear still digging away hope your doing well and still getting out prospecting and your dogs are being good and running fast for ya buddy

There is so much i don't haven't figured out about gold hunting with metal detectors.do you happen to have any information for a beginner you can send me or post?i have a fisher gold bug 2 or pro metal detector but not familiar with it ye.t And looking for a place to go to that's fun that also that i may possibly camp by or rent ?do you have any suggestions info ? youre so smart its very impressive and Inspiring one more thing I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS so funny .I really appreciate and enjoy them Thanks.
I watched my Grandfather (RIP) use divining rods to find sewer mains gas and water lines for maintenance, it worked every time. Just one coat hanger straitened out and cut in half bent just about three to six inches from the end.
Your out prospecting and why don't you have your GB2 with you to help you know where the gold is? Your rods point to the direction then your detector would direct you right to the gold area... Then you could pull a sample of the dirt and take it with you.... It just makes more sense to me that way... But I'm not out there gold prospecting.... I'm just disabled biker laying in bed wondering why... LOL...😋😋
I have a whites GMT, and the problem I find is that gold is usually in areas of heaviest mineralization, and even a good detector gets screwy in such places. Red earth is the worst.
Jeff I find your character difficult to watch sometimes but I still watch from time to time. This video is a classic reason why. Great job with the geology lessons.

Ok..your so smart I'm in, I hit the subscribe button because now I know I will definitely learn from you. I already did just from watching one video .Thanks for sharing.
For all you non believers in dowsing rods, don't say anything until you have tried it! I used to feel the same way until I saw a neighbour looking for water on his property with 2 pieces of a wire coat hangar and he found it. I tried it myself and was surprised that I too was able to dowse. It's not a gimmick and you don't need to spend any money to test it out. Cut a wire coat hanger with side cutters or linesmen pliers in the middle at the bottom and on either side of the hook so you have 2 pieces of equal length and then straighten them to a perfect 90 degree bend and you are all set to go! Go test it out! I'm not saying it will make you find gold but it will show high mineralization, buried steel, water etc! You will be surprised! The 2 pieces have to come from one solid piece of wire however!
omg i'm 80 but when I was young MOM took a twig to look for water? She'd walk and hold the branch in front of her until it bent down to the ground that told veins of WATER so dad would drill for water TA DA........WE'D FIND WATER... we lived in Vestal NY between the railroad and the Susquhanna River. Brilliant Jeff! Thanks for sharing your valuable knowledge. Gold fever is the best to have. Rock on!
Good Lord, Jeff your geology lessons are outstanding! Thank you Sir!! I have found gold in Placitas, I have mined galena that had 72 percent silver. I love your videos, your knowledge of geology is outstanding...
thanks James....wow 72% is amazing....thanks again.
I found gold in a placenta once...but it ended up just being my ring
I love geology, and this video both reinforces what I already know and teaches me new stuff, especially stuff that'll help me find gold, something I haven't done before but am definitely excited to try. Thanks, Jeff!
This guy sounds like hes been stranded on a deserted island for years
A direct descendant of Ben Gunn, perhaps!
Peace.
Exactly how we will all sound after a few more months of the Rona.
That's why he is so loved amongst the RUclipsrs, Lets gooooo Jefffff.
Ricky Gervais it’s called gold fever! 🤪🤪🤪🤪
Ricky, Jeff could find gold in the bottom of a mud puddle on the island. Good stuff found on this channel, addictive.
i have watched your videos, don't understand all the different rocks, but look at the colors, and grit so to speak. your panning so rough and aggresive freaked me out. i was thinking your washing the gold away. then you showed the gold in the pan!!! i just subscribed, you have gold fever, i originally thought you were nuts! but you are funny, and really informative. one day i will get back out west and find myself an old abandoned mine and have some fun, thank you for being a teacher and i look forward to learning more!
Started thinking this guy is a nut bar, but he’s actually dam informative.
Ethan Olsen haha 100%
very informative. :)
yup, my thoughts exactly!!!!
I know nothing about gold digging/prospecting. I figured this guy has been out in the sun way too long....well...I feel I have learned something today, and I need more sun. And maybe an energy drink to keep up with him. This video was very cool!
Christ, I kept repeating 'yes, yes I see' thinking he's gonna draw that .45 any second!
LOL, this guy's crazy! Really enjoyable and educational video. Trying to decide where you might be, but it looks like it might be fairly close, I might even go digging now that I watched this, thanks !
This is the best channel on youtube.
thanks Drew.
there need to be a gofund me to film primitiveTech, this guy, codylab and Collin the rocket guy on a big island
bring Russian hacker just to narrate
Dilly Dilly!
It's amazing the knowledge you have and I know everyone appreciates how you share it
I appreciate that
"Come on baby daddy needs a new pair of shoes !!! " lol 😂
All's I got to say is " let's go " you inspired me to become a novice n geology, gold prospector that has made me not only wealthy but someone who knows what shes doing!!!! Thanks n god bless
you betcha
That looks like my beautiful Arizona desert right there ❤🌵
I'm located just south of Tucson myself and prospecting is without question one of my all time favorite hobbies. I'd absolutely love to go out prospecting and/or rock hounding with u sometime if you ever find yourself in my territory. 🤘🏻
pretty much ...... come out and join us
I was out in Quartzsite and established a mucho continue of humongous of thata Mother Lode,, and I bet noone has touched it yet..my treasure I cannot even get to,. Can Someone understand my direction.. I will tell them my secrets.... But, promise We can 50/50 it.. Lmk if anyone is interested...
How should I proceed?
sample the cone and the area around it ..... also look at Google Earth at this area and look for different color contact zones
Yeeeehaaaaawwww my head is about too explode with all the cool info ya just filled it with thank you sir always a pleasure to watch
Take care folks
Jeff is good An he knows his shite for sure , pity I can't remember it all lol .
How you doing anyhow you been out lately? Regards Devito

This may be an old video but it is packed with good information which I plan to use when I go out this year. Gathering my equipment and studying and researching to find this most promising areas. Thanks for posting this video.
Love his CRAZY gold finding ass! Giggling HARD!!!😂😂😂💥
Love the channel! Reminds me of the old days of getting into prospecting with my dad watching the Buzzards shows. Great information gave me the gold bug back.
aaahhhh yes the Buzzard ...Rember him well
Oh my gosh! I love Jeffs' energy! Lol
using spirits to find gold...old timers did it . word is the worlds largest nugget in Australia came this way (Holtermann 'Nugget': 10,229oz. While the Welcome Stranger is the largest gold nugget ever discovered, the single biggest gold specimen ever found is the Holtermann. Dug up in October 1872 by German miner Bernhardt Holtermann at Hill End in New South Wales,
If only I had a roll of toilet paper for every time he says "COME ON ! LET'S GO !" ;)
Old Boy Adventures, You should watch his older videos when he was barely coming out you could build your own house for toilet paper
Just recently started watching Jeff. I am truly amazed on the knowledge he SHARES! keep it up! I learn from you every time I watch your vids.
Thanks and we will
Huuaaaa this man is gold himself xD that‘s what i call passionate
You are one entertaining characterJeff. I live in Sooke on southern Vancouver Island where the Leech formation was discovered shortly after the California gold rush and became the epicentre of gold prospecting(lode and placer) on the Island(Leechtown). They are still finding good gold there. Cheers.
thanks
4:57 - that is a mighty small caliber pistol yer pointing at me. I'm not afeard. :) LOL
You better be !
Thanks Jeff. I just love watching your show when your videos. Congratulations on your marriage as well. God bless you. Have a wonderful Easter weekend!
thank you
Hi Jeff..
You are Unbelievable..👍
That information you give out is WORTH Its WIEGHT IN GOLD...!!!!
I have used the dowsing rods also..and it works for me to..!
Your information on the different mineral deposits is explained very clearly so a normal lay man can understand it..!!!!
SO COME ON..!!! LETS GO..!!!
Let's Get some more gold to pay for knee pads and rubber boots..😂🤣
Thanks for sharing your knowledge mate.👍
Cheers Tony..👍🍺⛏🇦🇺
O yea 🇺🇸🍻😐🔫
matt h
Right on mate.👍
hi Jeff i will completely agree with Toni. I've been watching your videos they are very interesting .

Hi Mate.
Thanks for the tip. Cheers Tony.👍🍺⛏🇦🇺
Thx from Algeria
I watched my Grandfather (RIP) use divining rods to find sewer mains gas and water lines for maintenance, it worked every time. Just one coat hanger straitened out and cut in half bent just about three to six inches from the end.
I think it has something to do with the gold wedding band he wore.
LOL...😋😋
Bobby Baldeagle what detector beside the rods ?
I have a whites GMT, and the problem I find is that gold is usually in areas of heaviest mineralization, and even a good detector gets screwy in such places. Red earth is the worst.
Your level of knowledge never quits. You make me laugh but you give me inspiration and great insight to get out and, "Lets go" Dang It.!!! Thanks..
Jeff I find your character difficult to watch sometimes but I still watch from time to time. This video is a classic reason why. Great job with the geology lessons.
Oh yeah
Hilarious! I usually fall asleep listening to someone explaining geology but Joe makes it interesting.
yeeaa haaaah somebody that likes to have a good time,,
So educational and super hilarious! Be safe out there. Much appreciated. We learned a lot today about geology.
thanks and you betcha
_"And yeaaahh. Your gonna get wet!"_
Cracks me up every stinking time!
Absolutely the best channel on the subject! Love Jeff and Slim
thanks
First part of music sounded like firefly
Oh my gosh this is SOOO ADDICTING 🤣 you are amazing !!! I’m right there with you in delirious anticipation ....hee haw! Keep these coming gosh darn it!!!! What a rush..GOLD RUSH I couldn’t resist 😂🤣😂
Thanks Carla. we got more on the way and a lot of videos in the file for ya to watch
The dousing rods work. I worked underground in a mine and a guy I worked with showed me how to use them. I laughed at him at first until he proved my ass wrong. I still use them.
But they don't work for everyone , i use them and yes they work , my daughter no so much LOl ,
candy cane i think you missed your "joy ride"
candy cane yes , working with an excavator
, it helps to see where water pipes run , of course u work off plans for buried pipes but sometimes they give a general idea
ShinRaPresident , President ???sorry I don’t listen to dictators . Stop telling people what to do . If it works don’t fix it .
ShinRaPresident ur brain 🧠 should be like a parachute 🪂, it only works if it’s open 😂👍😂 I will give you $65000 to prove to me they don’t work !!! Let that detonate in ur pea brain !!!!😂😂😂👍😍😥🤯🤯 u moron human , sorry I mean moral human ( auto correct ) 🚽🧻😂
Great video Jeff! I'll have to watch it a few more times to really get it all but I like your way of teaching. I'm in Texas & I think alot of gold is at our feet & brought in the caliche (however it's spelled) so how easy would it be for you to come here & show us all if I'm right or wrong....so come on, let's gooooo!!
I'm going to have to watch this video about a hundred times . why? well you better now son
you crack me up. your delivery makes learning about this quite interesting and fun
Mining in the hot desert sun has bad side effects. Awesome video.
Ok..your so smart I'm in, I hit the subscribe button because now I know I will definitely learn from you. I already did just from watching one video .Thanks for sharing.
Awesome! Thank you!
Love ya Jeff! Where's Slim?
ya I miss Slim to Where's Slim gone to ?????
16:36 got LOTS of them around here! Especially more inland... Hmmm
The Joe Exotic of prospecting
Watching this video really helped me get a basic understanding of what to look for out here in my desert area!!
Glad it was helpful!
Listening 👂 to all your clues!
we have more on the way
omg i'm 80 but when I was young MOM took a twig to look for water? She'd walk and hold the branch in front of her until it bent down to the ground that told veins of WATER so dad would drill for water TA DA........WE'D FIND WATER... we lived in Vestal NY between the railroad and the Susquhanna River. I'm Scottsdale Az. retired... ENJOYED UR VIDEO!
Thank you for your story, Beatrice
I wish I could hear more!
He just LOVES what he does and it brings him tremendous Joy.. Great Job brother. Thank you for teaching the how to.. very informative. I'm a hard learner and I Learned . I actually understand this . So cool...
And yeah your gonna get dirty. So C'mon let's go!
Dowsing rods do indeed work, I used to use them to find geomagnetic lines however for me it seems easier to do it with just my mind and feeling which now works great and also on quite weak ones.
I was enjoying up until he brought out the dowsing rods, then he lost me.
Thems prospectors are superstitious folks!
Agreed. I kinda thought he was pulling a fast one with the retarded rods....but the he kept going on....and we'll I tuned out.
Hey theirs something to it tho...my grandfather used two stems from a willow tree to find the well for each of the three homes he built and it worked..nothing to do with asking questions tho.i agree that parts retarded
@@Dan-n-Butters no offense to your grandpa, but you have to be nucking futs to believe sticks are going to lead you to water.
@@FenianAn1mal well...it worked. Geuss. He was nucking futs cuz he helped build houses ever since he immigrated at 16yrs old he learned it from the old timers before him and used it when he went on his own....im sure they didnt give a damn who believed them because it always worked..btw im sure he took no offense. Hes dead
