This is the instructions for a S866 LCD with P01 to P20 explained.
The display is compatible with 24v, 36v, 48v and 60v and has an optional front and back lights switch.
Common Error codes are:

@@racko6ix It was just a bad connection in the plug that goes to the display iirc.
Also had e10 error, changed p20 to 2, and all was ok. If you have this error just try all alternatives on p20
P01....Brightness 1,2,3; P02....Km/m; P03....Voltage 32/48/60; P04....Sleep time minutes; P05....PAS mode; P06....Wheel size 26inch; P07....Magnet number in motor; P08....Speed limit; P09....Start level of PAS; P10....2=Peddle & throttle Assist; P11....Boost sensitivity=1; P12....Boost start strength; P13....Number of magnets; P14....Current limit in Amps; P15....Low Voltage power off; P16....Clear milometer; P17....Cruise enable/disable; P18....Speed ratio % adjustment; P19....1=Direct Hub 2=Gear Hub; P20....Protocol=0000
Turn on the display by holding power button for 2 seconds. Then press both the + and - button simultaneously. This will open to the settings menu. In the future it should open to the last setting you were working with. The numbers read P0 then 1,2,3, etc. The number 11-19 will read P1 then 1-9. There is only a P20 and a P21. Press the power button to advance through the numbers, the + and - to adjust the settings. Be careful, a lot of times when you depress the + and - key to go into the settings, it will raise or lower the setting it opens to by 1 increment. Just make sure to adjust it back.

02 Kilometers (1) or Miles (2)
03 Voltage setting for battery (24, 36, 48, 60v): under voltage is safe, over voltage bad.
04 Power saving mode turns off LCD after number of minutes. Set longer than traffic stops.
05 Number of PAS positions: 1-3 gears or 1-5 gears. These gears also affect throttle speed.
06 Wheel diameter: one of the only things measured in inches.
07 Number of speed magnets: Most 26” wheel conversion kits are 46 magnets.
08 Speed limit range: Why? So your PAS won’t kick on going down a 45 degree hill.
09 Zero Start: 1 Kicks on PAS when you start pedaling, 0 does not
10 Drive modes: Throttle, PAS, or Throttle and PAS.
11 Boost Sensitivity: Usually the higher the number, the more you pedal to kick PAS on
12 Boost start strength: Starts at gears 1-5
13 PAS magnet number: the little disk on the pedal, count the number of “dots”
14 Current limit value setting: 12A default with 1-20A range.
15 Undervoltage value: If Vs drop too low, batteries heat up, this number is cutoff.
16 ODO clear setting: just press + button for _____ seconds
17 Cruise control: 0 not enabled, 1 enabled, hold - key to turn on and off.
18 Display speed adjustment: adjust by % to fix speedometer when it is off
19 Gear enabled or disabled
20 Protocol numbers - Best to leave at 0, switches “interfaces” for different motor types.

Hey man, mine does power on everytime I plug they battery. But I cant turn it off. Long pressing Power button does not work. Even the sleep time does not work. Any idea?
Do you know how to unlock the speed limit without a throttle? Its set speed in display, power off, then turn back on with both brakes and throttle full for 10 sec, right?

This was very helpful. The S866 came with my 1500w brainpower controller. I used it to upgrade my razor E300 escooter. I connected it to a 6384 Brushless outrunner with hall sensors. It’s a Chain drive system. The controller runs it well. The gear ratio x number of magnets worked well to get my speedo correct. Only issue I have is it only works when the throttle is open. I installed the included wheel sensor to fix that. But it does not seem to send a reading to the display. If anyone knows a work around let me know. The wires seem correct. So I am stumped.

Thank you brother... it's a nice video... I installed a 48v 500w hub motor set on my 28" city bike... I set the p07 setting to 0001, then the km timer stopped working... I did some research and it shows the number of magnets in the motor, if it is not entered correctly. I learned that the km and distance would not be correct... Then, in the technical specifications of the engine, the magnet size was written as 27x2.3/27x3, so I entered the value 81 for testing purposes... The km meter started to work, but I did not know if it showed the speed and distance correctly... Can you help me on this issue? What should be the p07 value for my engine?

excellent video, thanks so much for doing this! I wanted to convert my 500w, 36v hub kit from a hand throttle/no lcd, to one with an lcd and thumb throttle. I purchased the Brainpower motor controller with the S866 lcd and still trying to get that to work, even after going thru all the P settings. I get the E 07 code, read that you can disconnect the Hall connector, did that but still show the error code . the controller is rate to 350w but my motor is 500w, so wondering if that is the key issue I'm having? any thoughts would be appreciated.
This work also with himo z16 bike display?

Press the power button briefly with the LCD already on, and watts will show where "TM" was. Press again for current.

i can cycle to P0-8 but that's it then back to P0-1. No P1 (1-8), P2 (1-8), etc.

hello i have a lankeleisi x3000 plus. the manufacturer says 46km / h but I'm stuck at 31 on the clock, 34 in reality. i try to remove the speed limit using the p08 which i put at 45 it doesn't change anything. i also have to modify the po7 but i'm not english i don't understand what to do. Hello thank you for the video, I also have a 500W controller with an S830 LCD display. I have a 36V motor. after wiring the various cables, I still have the message E07. And also when I suddenly accelerate the driven wheel vibrates and stops. when I gradually accelerate no noise. So how do you correct your flaws?
Nb: my hall sensors, there are 5 wires, on the controller there are 6 wires. So I isolated the white wire.
My wheel is 350W / 36V
I have one of these LCD displays, if I press the minus button for a few seconds the motor switches on and runs at a constant speed but the throttle only works backwards and another long press or brake stops the motor, other than that the throttle does not work at all.

No only the digits in the display but does not affect or boost the performance
My max speed was 20 and I wanted to see if I could unlock more. Now I'm stuck at 18 after installing display and I'm not sure how to fix it. It's very frustrating.

Hi. I have the error 07 on my bike... Everyhing seems to be ok BUT the error is there (the cabe hall cabel is connected). What is really the Hall sensor of the motor? What it is doing? Because I can't see what is wrong with the motor, it spins ok...
Hello, I have this exact same controller on my Sparta ion GL. However I can't get it to work, I don't have any hall sensors connected so I get error 7, but it should not be a problem, because you have the same error. Can someone help me get my motor to spin at all?
You have to take out the controller inside the hub motor first to get it to work

Question: How can I set the PAS range from 15km/h to 25km/h please? The ADO A20+ offers only PAS in mode 1 with a 15 km/h limitation.
Please could you tell me the best settings to have with a 36v battery, it seems to switch off the lcd display and cut everything out when i use pedal assist on a hill even on a fully charged battery. The bike is only a few months old too.

is there any way that the throttle becomes the walk assist function? for use the PAS usually
Push and hold the (-) button, it goes into 'Walk Mode". Be careful and ready, it goes until you push (-) again.

Witam mam pytanie wymieniłem teraz sterownik na nowy s866 wraz z wyświetlaczem. Niby wszystko ok ale mam problem. Podczas pedałowania prędkość na wyświetlaczu pokazuje prawidłowo ale jak przestanę pedałować jadę na manetce prędkość spada do zera co może być przyczyną miał ktoś problem taki, i 2 rzecz po zaśnięciu wyświetlacza po paru minutach kasują mi się km przejechane i od zera rusza. Dziekuje
The S866 Controller only goes up to P016. Is this a problem? (The sticker on the rear of the unit says 36V but my battery is 10AH 48v.)

P10 has to be set to 1 for the thumb throttle or 2 if you want to use both pedal assist and throttle or 0 for only pedal assist
Do you know what value P07 should be on for a 26” wheel. My speedo is about 3mph out. so when I’m doing 6mph it’s only showing 3mph. Thank you.

Good explanation. Your Display shows E 07. do you know from where it comes from? I have a mystery on two bikes: Hall sensors 3 and the white are ok. but E 07 Can I reset the controller?
Which PAS sensor fits, tried with 5 and with 12 magnets but did not work. in what position should P18 stand?
P18 only affects the speed on the display and not the real speed. Set P19 to zero enables PAS sensor
Does the data need to be inputted like volts etc before it will work
What means P09?
P09: zero start, non-zero start setting, 0: zero start; 1: non-zero start;

When you power on the assist level will be set to 1 if you want that or start with zero and you have to press the + button first after powering on

Hello, it's P14. You have to set it to 20. You'll get 20A max.

I can't activate 6km mode or "walk mode" I hold the down button when still but nothing
You should see a walking figure icon next to the PAS level number after holding the button for 2 seconds or the walking figure disappears again after 2seconds and it only works when you are not moving so you have to push the bike a little

What are the standard 'settings' for this display when you boot for the first time ? I have changed a setting but i don't no what i have changed. How accurate must be the number of magnets for the hub motor ? I have a Sanyo Dynamo motor, but i don't know the ammount of magnets.
The number of magnets are not important and only affect the calculated speed in the display so any number works but lower it if the speed displayed is too low or increase when the display shows too much

they are fine. I went through the settings again and found setting, p20 value 0 to be a "settings reset" and value 1 to be Normal operation... I then found the connection fault gone for 0 and 1 but not 2 or 3 so 2 and 3 might be a different configuration... Had to plug in all my Values... the setting for P8 is a Guess the Default Value is 80 Magnet pieces... still did not figure out my accentual settings with out taking the Motor apart and counting the Rotor magnets and my back hub size is a tape measure guess is 27' but it seems to be working now, and the throttle seems to work too now.... go figure
why this display dont register the true trip in odometer . only register every 1km . If u do 900 meter and turn off the bike thats 0 in odometer .
What should I set for P14 Current limit value? I have a 300W hub motor and a 48V-10Ah battery (a DCH-015 battery for folding bike). Not sure what controller I have.
Battary has a 20A BMS
The pedal assistance no longer works for me, but the throttle thumb handle still works.
In the menu P10 I have set to 2 = mix, both pedal and throttle will work.
I have also tried option 1 & 0 in P10, but I cannot get the pedal assistance to work anymore. Do I sometimes have to set that elsewhere?
Incidentally, there is nowhere an option for default settings?
Check P19 must be set to zero (0=PAS, 1=No PAS)
If the pas used to work but now doesn't, I would think the problem lies with the pas itself and is nothing to do with the lcd settings. Broken or dirty sensor/ magnet disc? Distance between the disc & sensor too big? Or maybe a bad connection?

Black: Negative power, ground
Yellow: Power battery level
Blue: Signal sending
Green: Signal receiving
Brown-light: Positive power
, same voltage as battery
White-light: Negative power

and what does these inches number mean?
Wheel diameter is the distance from top to bottom of your wheel and most common is 28inch
have a problem with this display when I turn on this screen appears with 4 0000 and I cannot make it work because I do not know the code can you help me please?
The default passcode is 3745 and I believe it only works when pressing and holding the power button for 10sec to unlock
unlocked lh100 by doing 0000 6666 3745 do I have to redo the same on this too?
Have you ever tried a KT-LCD3 display/computer with the Brainpower motor controller?
If you have, which do you prefer...the LCD3 or the S866?
Does that change if you have tried any of the higher series of KT-LCD displays (e.g. LCD4, LCD8H, etc)?
