This performance is heartbreaking. Nobody knew why she was crying until the media told us the lies: that she had left her team when actually they ditched her. She had to do everything herself after that including directing, designing and planning whilst, we now know, she has been suffering with depression. Now that's what you call an idol.
Lol, please. Come on, it's fake. Well made, but fake. Believe me, she must be having a perfect self-control. One embodies a feeling for a performance, and then you move on.
This was she saddest performance of her whole career, i think...She is tired, sad, hurted...I cry each time i watch it....Gaga is the best artist of all time...I love her so much...She is so strong...
Her top 3 most emotional performances of her career: 1. Dope, YT Music Awards 2013 2. What's Up, ArtRave: The ARTPOP Ball 2014 3. Til It Happens To You, Oscars 2015
for her art that was purely thought and brought to the public, for her person that was publicly and personally ruined and for that album that meant so much for a lot of people and that still isn't regarded with respect by many
i watched a really good one by a channel called “deep dive” and it really dove deep!!! it talks about the making of it, when the era was happening, the scrapped part two
Artpop era is really though for her. She get negative critic's about her album, about her song.. Many little monster left her because they don't understand what artpop is really about. I hope gaga will keep being strong and stronger than before. I wish she could dance on single prayer.... Love and respect to you gaga.
i'm speechless how many singers can keep up a tune while crying like that ?! she's misunderstood in so many ways few people can see how broken she is ,and i won't comment on her talent because this performance says it all
This is the day Troy Carter, Gaga's manager since 2007, left her due to creative differences. Thats probably why the whole ARTPOP era was kind of messy, but the message and songs of ARTPOP are amazing and they always will be! Gaga must have been so sad, you can tell because she doesn't even have any makeup on, thats how raw and real she is. I don't think there has ever been a performance with 0 makeup on, for anybody ever to go on TV performing, this has gotta be a first.
Forgive them, they must’ve meant as an artist performing publicly. Which has sparked my curiosity as I set out to see if other artists have gone on to be “raw” like this. Well females at least… cause you’ll find a lot of male artists without makeup (rock, reggae, country to name a few)
In literally every other performance of Dope I saw she hits the notes perfectly. This is the only one I saw where she doesn't and yet it's still one of my favorite performances from her because of the sheer and raw emotion of the performance. Plus, the fact that she still went on stage and delivered the song while all of that shit was going on in her life just proves she's one hell of a performer. Sing on Gaga, sing on.
This song reminds me of the pain I hide everyday. Both Lady Gaga and I have PTSD. I sing in opera, and I went onstage after the theatre closed, and sang this while crying. I feel every word she sings and remember she makes me remember what happened to me .
Imagine hearing I Wanna Be With You and thinking 'wow, this song makes me think of my bestie'. Then the next day you find your best friend dead. Then months later, Gaga changes IWBWY to Dope, and it forces you to focus on the fact your best friend is dead, and that THE PERSON YOU NEEDED MORE THAN DOPE IS DEAD. I was a pill popping, junkie loser almost a year ago, but he saved me. I stayed clean because of his friendship and love, he made me strong and better. The metamorphosis of this song is literally Art imitating life, mine and Gaga's life. Before you say hateful things about Mother and to her Monsters, please think about what this song means to us. Gaga's honesty, support, love, and dedication to us fans means the world to us, that's what this song is about. If you've ever lost a loved one, you must have compassion. I've lost many. I miss you, Joe I need you..more than dope.
Why are people disliking this so much, Me myself is not a lady gaga fan. I saw this video as an advertisement, I didnt skip the add. Wanna know why, I felt the pain was she saying in that song. I saw the way she was crying and I felt her pain. This is so sad, shes in so much pain and I just realise maybe lady gaga deserves more credit for what she does. This is heartbreaking... It really spoke to me. This is powerful and emotional.
***** , totally agree with you!!! I didn't like this video because she's crying or not, I liked it, because you can really see what a real artist is, you feel the pain in her! Like I said, I'm not a huge fan of hers, but I can't deny she's is talented, she has a beautiful voice! And this performance was much different from her last ones, it's not about showing off anymore, now it's about art! Like Hector said, it's just her and a piano!!! How many POP artists do that now a days? So, Ann Liguända , just get the hell out of here if you don't know to apreciate real art!
Don't worry about dislikes. Its usually those people that don't have anything better to do in life and leave a dislike. Most video's have dislikes like this video
I love the song and lyrics, and really appreciate her emotion. However her voice is horrible, her voice did not allow me to enjoy it, and I really tried to. Guess I value the voice more in music I hear?
A plaid shirt, trucker's hat, no make-up and plain messy hair....while performing emotionally at an award show. Just when you think Gaga's status of being shockingly unpredictable has fallen into being completely predictable, she goes all plain and correspondingly resurfaces her status while somehow outdoing herself as well. Brilliant.
This is the most powerful thing I've ever seen. I've never seen ANYBODY bare their soul to me like this, let alone a rock super-star. Suddenly I don't care how many times she's offended me in the past, all I saw here was a human being suffering terribly, and still sharing her beautiful voice with us. I cried throughout most of it, for her obvious pain and the raw, unmasked beauty of the performance.
I truly believe she sings ''I need you more than dope" figuratively, just a way of describing strong feelings.. She's very dedicated to her art and wouldn't do anything to harm it

This was the first song of her I heard that I like. I heard it in the middle of one of my many heroin relapses. The love of my life had finally had enough of my junkie bullshit and left me. This exact video randomly started playing right as I was fixing and it broke me down into a million pieces. I overdosed that night. My ex was my only emergency contact. She can to the hospital to give me a ride home and told me I can't have her as my emergency contact anymore and to never speak to her again unless I went straight to a rehab. I didn't have money for rehab so I didn't go. I tried to get clean and about a year and a half later I did for like a year or so. Then I was strung out for a long time. This was a long time ago now and thankfully I've been clean since 2018.
@@nicholasbert4475 "Took her money away"? She was worth $175 MILLION in 2013--not exactly hard up for money. Second, if he DID "betray her and take her money," there would likely be a lawsuit and a settlement or verdict. Prove to me that such a lawsuit happened. I call bullshit on the whole thing. More likely description of reality: She's filthy rich and makes dramatic displays of emotion to drive her fanbase to buy her music (emotional manipulation to sell a product). She had an arrogant personality difference with a manager and fired him. End of story. Happens with celebrities all the time.
always come back to this performance, can see the sadness in her as she is performing. wish i could hug her or do something, huff :( amazing performer she is
I watched this for the first time at the RUclips Music Awards, online, but I missed the first 50 seconds of this clip. I didn't know it was Gaga, because I've never seen her without all the crazy clothes an make up before. She blew me away. The emotion in this performance was amazing, she poured her heart out. You can tell she means every single word. I've been thinking about this performance ever since the award show. I've never been a 'fan' of Gaga (I've never disliked her either), I don't know anything about her, but she sure as hell has my respect as an artist. You rarely see performances like this.
***** Do you believe a super fucking huge pop singer, would let her feelings take control over her and turn her into a cry-baby, in a massive perfprmance? Oh, thank god then she didn't have to sing "Venus" and burst into tears on stage while singing the chorus. Come on, it's fake. Well made, but fake. Believe me, she must be having a perfect self-control.
Christos Celluloidkid She has feelings regardless if she's a pop star or just your average everyday preson. Everything isn't just for attention or publicity, she's obviously going through alot at this time and she's just letting it out.
Every time I Watch this video I tear up because it is amazing and she is awesome she loves her fans more then dope and I just wanna run on stage and hug her she is amazing love u gaga
I cry everytime I watch this performance. It's sad . But at the same time it shows how Gaga could overcome all the fucking boundaries and hard moments in her career to win an Oscar in 2019 and have more fame & power than everrr. She's a Legend and no one can say the opposite about it!
Well compare her latest work like "Dope" and "Mary the night" she is a lot more classy and formal. In contrast to her previous works like Paparazzi, love games, etc... where she basically just dances around naked for the camera. Also her stunts with dressing up in a meat dresses also add to my comment about "begging for attention." Though that is just my opinion and my view of the matter.
tom mullen but paparazzi was a short film dedicated to depicting the fascination with celebrity death and fame. in fact, the entire song was about that, too. and the choreography within her videos are phenomenal and stylistically unique -- dance is art, too. many of gaga's "stunts" or "begs for attention" are actually parodies of what pop culture perceives in fame. they're mimics. the meat dress was first worn by a prominent feminist protesting the objectification of women. gaga took that and exaggerated it in the context of pop culture to ask us to question the nature of fame and pop and LGBTQ rights. she isn't just about her music, she's about her analysis of modern society. classy and formal doesn't mean it's better art -- that's a classist's way of thinking. good art is polarizing. it produces haters and lovers.
tom mullen No offense but your comment just seems to miss the point of Gaga's music completely for her first two albums. It's as if you only just now get Lady Gaga and her music but was trying to blame the problem on her. Lady Gaga more then any other artist has always been about her music and her art first. Maybe you should go back and re-listen & re-watch everything.
no. the new stupid youtube comments system messed up my reply. Yes it was supposed to be for Tom. Sorry if it seems directed at you because it's not. I actually agree with your comment.
I love this song. I first saw her preform it at the youtube awards, online. The song and performance makes me cry from deep down. It really touches a nerve inside of me. I was never too much of a gaga fan until I heard this song. *I mean, I always respected her art and music- but wow, what an intimate song. Thanks.
I love Gaga for the variety she has in all of her music. She completely blows me away when she sits here and just pours her heart out because she actually makes her fans feel something too
Every note, every breath, every tear - I totally can feel it. At about 40 years old, I felt OK with being alone, never experienced what love really means. Not as a child without parents and not while realizing I am gay. It was like it was - wonderful guys to dream of crossed my way, but there was this invisible line I am not allowed to cross. Just pain and tears over all these years. And then there he was, Andi. I could not belive, we got together somehow. Just for a few weeks, but I could not belive, how life can feel like. I felt not useless. We had a really great time till he told me, that he is not gay. OK!? I had to respect that. Again, not my world here. The one I love like I never loved someboy or something before sayed one sentence which meant go, I don't need you. I told him, that he is the love of my life - nine years have been gone now. He has a women and children now - wish them all the very best. But, I still feel the pain, love is not gone, not a bit. I see his eyes, hear his voice, feel his hearbeat - feel useless again. A song like this performed like this says it so much better than I can ever say. Andi, I still need you more than dope, even I do not let you know.
Her vocals in this performance sound amazing to me. When she it "sreaming" I think she really just giving her all and I just feel so much power in her voice. This song means so much to me. I love you Mother Monster!
She still sings so well even when she's crying as much as she did. I love her so much and I'm so proud of her, look how far she's come. 💜 #ProudLittleMonster
This song shows how Lady Gaga struggled w/ drugs & alcohol. She is asking for forgiveness from her fans, family, and friends, for constantly with-drawling. So "Dope", is a forgiveness song..
Not only the greatest live rendition of this song, this is her best performance ever. The emotion, tonality, tears and talent flow together seamlessly. The greatest white female pop singer in my opinion. Whoever the lucky people in this audience were... im so jealous of you guys
I just want to give her a big hug and tell her it's gonna be okay. Her pain is so real. She's alone in a crowded room. I get it, I really do. I'm glad that she pushed through.
I love her voice. She's one of the few pop stars of today who can actually sing, plus she writes all of her music. I'd say pretty much all other pop stars of today are a joke, can't sing a note
If people hate her so much, why do they go out of their way to watch and comment on their videos.... I don't understand. Her voice is so powerful! This performance was spectacular! The emotion and the rawness in her voice are so perfect!
I think that in every song of Lady Gaga we find something that deals specifically with us. And this song reflects my life, it's hard to hear, but it is so beautiful and painful at the same time.
She puts so much heart and passion into her music. I still don't understand the negative comments on here. If you don't like the video or Lady Gaga simply watch someone else on here. Theres no need to be hateful.
This is TRULY a genuine artist that keeps pushing the envelope by giving us everything she's got. Little Monsters & I, love it! Cheers to Lady Gaga! She is amazing! #ARTPOP
I listen to this song as well as all her other songs every day, but the emotion in this song is so deep, no matter how much I listen to this, it is just so emotional and has so much feeling and meaning! Gaga is such a wonderful person
I love beyonce. But, i don’t get it when they call her, the Queen. This girl right here, can sing everything. I think Lady Gaga deserves to be called the Queen. Way more TALENTED THAN ANY POP GURL OUT THERE. Legend.
It's clear people making comments like she is a good actor etc don't really know her..... This is genuine and she herself said she plays theatre, so yes she does act however it is her real emotion. Learn to understand her work before you judge with pathetic comments.

@@prometheusrex1 she fired him bc he betrayed her and took her money away......
Happens with celebrities all the time.
prometheusrex1 So because she has money it’s ok?
prometheusrex1 Are you a Flopdonna fan by any chance?
always come back to this performance, can see the sadness in her as she is performing. wish i could hug her or do something, huff :( amazing performer she is
So emotional... I
I watched this for the first time at the RUclips Music Awards, online, but I missed the first 50 seconds of this clip.
Can we just. Can we just.. CAN WE JUST STAN AND GIVE THIS PERFORMANCE THE RESPECT IT DESERVES because she did ThaT.
To this day this remains one of those performances that I think about, and come back to watch every now and then
After hearing that Troy Carter quit on her the day of this performance, this has so much more weight to it.
What had happen to her and her manager? were they dating or did she just randomly fired him? why is she crying?
Dona Louis Because they were so close.
It was fake! Not one tear came out of those eyes! Its called a performance!!! Ignorance is bliss!!!
Every time I Watch this video I tear up because it is amazing and she is awesome she loves her fans more then dope and I just wanna run on stage and hug her she is amazing love u gaga
She's crying because Troy carter left her that day
he left her one month later lol
***** it is ..he left her in dece, ber
David Kal He announced that on December, he privately left her that day.
And you can her said in the beginning “I’m sorry mom and Natalie” 😪
Not even just that day but backstage at that event
I cry everytime I watch this performance. It's sad . But at the same time it shows how Gaga could overcome all the fucking boundaries and hard moments in her career to win an Oscar in 2019 and have more fame & power than everrr. She's a Legend and no one can say the opposite about it!
Truly amazing. I'm glad Gaga is taking a new route. She's not just begging for attention any more. She's actually making true art. And I love it.
she was never begging for attention girl!
I love you Gaga you'll forever be loved and accepted by all your TRUE FANS! Forever the queen!
I love this song. I first saw her preform it at the youtube awards, online. The song and performance makes me cry from deep down. It really touches a nerve inside of me. I was never too much of a gaga fan until I heard this song. *I mean, I always respected her art and music- but wow, what an intimate song.
Thanks.
This is her best song, I'm not fond of Gaga, but this song has heartfelt and raw emotions. It's top quality.
Words can express what kind of emotion this performance causes. It's beautiful art that no one can take away. #TeamMonsters
I'm crying now. It's so beautiful. My heart dropped.. ♥
Gaga always kills it live and on the piano . Gaga I love you,
Omg such an emotional song. Moving performance...she's just amazing!
Oh this one is so emotional! Love it!
You're so handsome 😘
I love Gaga for the variety she has in all of her music. She completely blows me away when she sits here and just pours her heart out because she actually makes her fans feel something too
I cry everytime I Watch that video
Me too

2019 and look how far youve come girl!!!
Oh yeah! QUEEEN.
Lady gaga is the best artist in my opinion to go through what she has gone through and then perform like this and make music is so strong
LADY GAGA'S THE FUCKING BEST! #FACT
You wont see any other artist do something like this.
this is the most emotional live i have ever seen
She still sings so well even when she's crying as much as she did. I love her so much and I'm so proud of her, look how far she's come. 💜 #ProudLittleMonster
This song shows how Lady Gaga struggled w/ drugs & alcohol. She is asking for forgiveness from her fans, family, and friends, for constantly with-drawling. So "Dope", is a forgiveness song..
Gaga is beautiful inside and out, she's true talent, Artpop at midnight.
oh my god i see that pain in her eyes... this is so powerful and so spiritual and so so i don't know how to explain i'm just crying so much
Not only the greatest live rendition of this song, this is her best performance ever. The emotion, tonality, tears and talent flow together seamlessly. The greatest white female pop singer in my opinion. Whoever the lucky people in this audience were... im so jealous of you guys
I'm crying, it's so fucking beautiful ! Gaga you're my saviour.
Are you serious?
yeah
jess narin wow you're sad
I just want to give her a big hug and tell her it's gonna be okay. Her pain is so real. She's alone in a crowded room. I get it, I really do. I'm glad that she pushed through.
I love her voice. She's one of the few pop stars of today who can actually sing, plus she writes all of her music. I'd say pretty much all other pop stars of today are a joke, can't sing a note
If people hate her so much, why do they go out of their way to watch and comment on their videos.... I don't understand. Her voice is so powerful! This performance was spectacular! The emotion and the rawness in her voice are so perfect!
2016 i'am still in love with u gaga thank y for evrything that u v done for me nd for so many forever .
ALWAYS come back to this version of this song! It speaks to me!
She is perfect.
I think that in every song of Lady Gaga we find something that deals specifically with us. And this song reflects my life, it's hard to hear, but it is so beautiful and painful at the same time.
Katy, nicki, Miley, Britney, madonna do NOT have such a powerful voice!!! This woman has TALENT. real talent. She's an artist.
I won't say she's not an artist, but the other ones, at least three of them are actually huge artists too, so don't say they're not artists at all ;)
***** they are not artists at all. they are tools of recording companies to make lots of money
@Ivan LN No, she doesn't
Jhon L whatta joke!
nicki is not a singer, she’s a rapper dumbass
I love u lady Gaga u tha Beast !!!!!!(;
Love you Gaga, ARTPOP is an incredible album, fuck the haters and fuck the press. FUCK THE PRESS, GAGA YOU ARE THE BEST!
one of the best performance, Lady Gaga's. GREAT performance for a slow and emotional music.
We love and appreciate you, Gaga. We adored ARTPOP too - you created something brilliant and beautiful.
Gaga FOREVER!
so beautiful i have no words to explain her performance
실패를 경험했던 사람이라면, 혹은 연인이던 친구던 소중했던 누군가를 내실수로 인해 잃었다면 이곡이 가슴을 후벼팔거같다 ㅠ 아 소름
Those are real tears and I cried with her. God I just love her!
She puts so much heart and passion into her music. I still don't understand the negative comments on here. If you don't like the video or Lady Gaga simply watch someone else on here. Theres no need to be hateful.
Lady Gaga is truly one of her kind, despite all the uneducated comments. She will go down in history 'creating love, one dress at a time'.
This is TRULY a genuine artist that keeps pushing the envelope by giving us everything she's got. Little Monsters & I, love it! Cheers to Lady Gaga! She is amazing! #ARTPOP
Hands down, the most heart-wrenching song I've heard in my life
I'd say it is hard trying to sing this while crying, you got that.. That feeling in your throat.. Gaga did a Good job!~
THIS WAS BREATHTAKING! We need you more than dope, Gaga
pls pls don't cry sweetheart .......I can not watch your tears.....u my angel
I listen to this song as well as all her other songs every day, but the emotion in this song is so deep, no matter how much I listen to this, it is just so emotional and has so much feeling and meaning! Gaga is such a wonderful person
You can feel the pain everytime she performs this song. THE BEST SONG ON ARTPOP AND MY FAVORITE ONE.
Lady Gaga is f--king awesome!
I love you Lady Gaga.... you're the best .... good job
I didn't expect Gaga to do this. This is beautiful. Chills down my spine. I luv Lady Gaga!
I love beyonce. But, i don’t get it when they call her, the Queen. This girl right here, can sing everything. I think Lady Gaga deserves to be called the Queen. Way more TALENTED THAN ANY POP GURL OUT THERE.
Legend.
Stfu theyre both queens
True, I used to love Beyoncé I went off her and now I get a weird vibe from her. Don’t like her at all. Gaga is so genuine and a real ARTist
Hail Zod shut yo mouth
@@uhoh8439 stfu beyonka fan

This break my heart. Please dont ever cry again,we love you forever Mommy Monster
It's clear people making comments like she is a good actor etc don't really know her..... This is genuine and she herself said she plays theatre, so yes she does act however it is her real emotion. Learn to understand her work before you judge with pathetic comments.
This performance is DOPE!!!
She's is talented. I can feel her passion and emotions through the song.
I’m crying, and my tears are flowing
Omg I can't handle this, I'm in tears because she's in tears ;'(
