What if someone keeps on trying for 10 times but don’t get the answer less than difficulty level and someone else tries and gets the answer in first try, so are all the efforts of first person wasted?
because the SHA 256 (Secure Hash Algorithm) implements what we call Avalanche effect that ensures any change in data (regardless of how small or insignificant the change is) should change the hash completely. So we miners keep trying random nonce and there is no way for them to use approximation that's why its totally up to luck. Its like DATA + Prev Hash + Nonce => Hash .. and this hash is essentially a hexadecimal value if the value is below target the miner is happy. Hope it helps..
