Thanks for watching!!
I cry every time the moms spirit comes back and Koda is all happy.
Especially the confession scene :(
Though, I recently watched the deleted scene, and while it's not bad, I prefer the final version where it's left to your imagination.
Same
With Sitka too ;;__;;
Me too
Thank you so much for this wonderful review! We had an amazing time creating this film and to this day it remains one of my favorite projects to have ever been a part of.
Wow, thank you so much for watching, Aaron! Thank you for the art you created for us fans.
The animation is spectacular.
i guess I am kinda off topic but does anyone know a good place to stream newly released series online ?
@Reginald Zachariah I watch on FlixZone. You can find it by googling :)
What I love the most about Brother Bear is how it portrays people making mistakes and learning from them, rather than the classic "villain". And how it teaches kids to look at someone elses point of view even if they are completely different from you. I could go on and on, it's my favourite disney movie :D
I agree with Kenai's voice actor on it being a big honor to do a Disney voice.
you mean Joaquin Phoenix :D
Yeah they are realllllyyyyy picky with who is in anything that has their name on it.
Unpopular opinion: I wish Disney made movies with only some CGI in them like they used to in Brother Bear, Tarzan, Hunchback of Notre Dame, etc.
It's not an unpopular opinion, just an expensive one.
👍and treasure planet
Brother bear came out when I was 4. I loveddddd it the first time I saw it in theaters, and ever since then too 😊
I was 14 when brother bear went to theater. I didn't care I still went and saw it. I just love the movie so much and still do til this day. It's one of my favorite Disney movie ever.
It came out before I was born but once I saw it I fell in love. It's such a good movie and the songs are awesome too.
@@molepurr7065 Phil Collins and Tina Turner.
Both still amazing.
Aaron Brignac I was 7 when Brother Bear came out in theaters
I was 10.
I was 19 when it came out and bawled my eyes out. So, so , so underrated!! I mean, maybe an unpopular opinion, but I think it's better than The Lion King.
I agree with you, it definitely is better than the Lion King. In my opinion, of course.
@@hejarmikami5828 What makes you guys say that?
@@ChelseatheCreativeFox-pc2xz I prefer the story, the characters, and the music, by the way, I said that it is better, in my opinion. I don't mean to offend you or anyone else who disagrees with me. That simply is MY opinion, and you don't have to agree with that.✌️
@@hejarmikami5828 What makes you think that it is better? The Lion Kingn also focused on the story, the characters, the music, and it has a good message about growing up and taking responsibilty in your life. There's no difference between Brother Bear and The Lion King since they're both good movies back in the day and I know that Brother Bear is a solid movie since I watched it as a kid several times. And I'm not really offended, I only asked you a question about why you think that one is better than the other, which does sound weird, but I will try to understand. I didn't watch both movies very often when I grew older, but I do know how highly praised The Lion King was and how less-talked about Brother Bear was and I was surprised when that movie had been forgotten for years. I thought it was crazy since it would be just as remembered as the rest of the Disney films that had been made before in their time. But I guess not all movies are perfect and unforgettable. Bottom line, I still like the movie for what it is and l won't forget it no matter what.
@@hejarmikami5828 But doesn't the Lion King focus on the story and characters, too? It also has a message about growing up and taking responsibility in life. I'm not too offended by that, I was surprised by why you think that, that's all.
I love Brother Bear because it has a lot of great morals to it. And it really touches your heart
i fricken love brother bear. it came out the year i was born and still manages to hit me in the feels every time i watch it. i love the feeling of nostalgia
Same
I'm so happy to hear this isn't as underrated as I thought
It still is underrated.
One thing to mention is that it’s only Disney movie to accurately depict and honor Native American culture instead of the racist characterization in Peter Pan and Pocahontas
Pocahontas had lots of help from actual native Americans to make the natives accurate.
@AlwaysLookCool 729 It's still racist regardless of when it came out.
Erm… kind of. "Brother Bear" is definitely less disrespectful than those two movies because it doesn't try to tell a story about a specific tribe or frame it from the white settlers' point of view, but there is a license to be inaccurate when you set the movie in ancient times and in a not-so-specific place. You don't have to address culture inconsistencies when this all happened once upon a time. Then there's the film's music, which at times uses actual Inuit, but mixes BULGARIAN singing (because it sounds "mysterious and ancient" to people who haven't heard it) and modern pop. Talk about dissonance.
It's definitely an example of a Disney story with Native American influences rather than a Native American story with Disney influence.
Ashley Atilano This is a hill I’m willing to die on: Peter Pan isn’t “racist.” Change my mind.
Petrr pan was supposed to reprensent indigious people?
My boyfriend literally just asked me five minutes ago “Where’s that Down To Disness?”
We’re so excited
brother bear is one of my all time favorites
My too Brother bear is one my favorite Disney movie of all time.
Same here
Aaah I love Brother Bear so much! My parents got it when it came out bc I loved The Lion King (to the extent that my imaginary friend was Scar's good twin sister lol) and my dad loves Phil Collins so it seemed an obvious choice. Although it's quite slow for most children, as someone who is intensely connected to nature, spirituality and aesthetic (I'm going to study illustration at uni next year), as well as music etc., I was deeply absorbed into the universe. When I watched it again a few years ago, I fell in love with it again and appreciated it so much more. Plus 'On My Way' is one of my favourite songs of all time.
Since I was three year old I have loved this film with all my heart. I cried every single time I watched it, and still do. Rewatching it more older made me realize lot of things I missed out when I saw it more young. It's really an amazing film with beautiful and heartwarming messages. I have a really deep connection with this movie, it really absorbs you into it. 12 years later is still my favourite movie ever, and it will always be
Brother bear is my favorite move and I'm always so happy to see someone who likes the movie and alot of people don't notice this great movie or think it's dumb.So thanks for having a good respective of this movie.
One of my favorite bits in brother bear is when kenai let's turned into the beer, the music, the lights. The everything is just awesome 👍🐻
my favourite disney movie of all time!!! used to watch it every week on dvd as a kid (still watch it pretty regularly now tbh)
Brother bear is my favorite Disney movie of all time. I even bought the DVD the day it was released. I spend everyday watching it but stop. I haven't seen the movie in years now still it's one of my favorite even to this day.
Brother bear is my husbands favorite Disney movie! He’s Native and his Totem animal is a bear too, so he resonates with it a lot. I actually got him a Koda plush for Christmas this year so this is such great timing 🥰
That's so special!!
The Great Mouse Detective! It was one of my sister, and my favorites! No one ever knows what were talking, but its such a good movie!
Love this episode! Brother Bear is one of my favorites and this video is really informative ✨ I love it
Brother Bear is one of my ultimate favourite Disney movies, I even named my dog Koda!
Definitely one of my all-time favourite Disney film :D
The screening in the beginning had me always confused!! I thought there was something wrong with my DVD
Down to disness is definitely my favourite yt series❤️❤️
We played "Welcome" at our wedding. It was the first song we did when we invited everyone to dance. Felt appropriate since our families had come together
Brother Bear isn’t my favorite movie, but “Great Spirit” got me so hype when I went to Alaska this summer
Sad how despite the film being slightly over 15 years old, two of the stars are already no longer with us :(
Still one of my favorite animated films since I was a kid.
And OMG, Byron Howard also ended up doing Zootopia!
WAIT, you can meet Koda in the parks!?! Please tell me where! The first time I visited Disneyland I ate at StoryTellers inn just to see them. But only Kanai made appliances there at the time. I know they don't meet at WDW, even though they would be perfect for Canda in Epcot or allmost anywhere in Animal Kingdom. But Seriously, where can I meet Koda!?! I LOVE Brother Bear!
WillC Productions you can meet Koda at Storytellers though sometimes they replace Koda with Pluto but Koda is still there!
I met Koda at Epcot when I was a kid.
I love the music in this film! Phil Collins has written some of my all time favorite Disney songs. I haven’t seen this film in at least few years, but I do really like it.
Omg this is your first down the disness video in forever, I thought you had stopped doing them.
Would love to see A Bugs Life 🦗or Finding Nemo next 🦈
YAAASSSSSS ITS BAAAAACK!!!!!!!!! I LOVE DOWN TO DISNESS!!!$
Brother Bear is underrated.
Joshua Lowe No lie there. I love Brother Bear because like The Lion King, it has a lot of great morals
Hope you do a Down to Disness on the following Disney and Pixar movies:
1. Frozen
2. Big Hero 6
3. Zootopia
4. Moana
5. Wreck-it Ralph
6. Ratatouille
7. Up
8. Inside Out
9. Wall-E
10. Coco
Don't forget Tangled
@@ChelseatheCreativeFox-pc2xz Sarah already did Tangled
Brother Bear is still my Disney Childhood Movie for very long time when I was a kid and I love it.💓💓🌟
Brother bear happens to be one of my favorites granted it’s more towards the bottom of the list cause kids is a. tiny bit annoying but still one of my favorites mostly cause of the story
YAY! More Down To Disness! What a pleasant surprise. How about Sword in the Stone :)
I feel like I missed a lot of Disney movies for some reason while growing up this was one of them. Thank goodness Netflix had it because it has become one of my favorites and I love watching it with my kids now.
just re-listening to the cut scene, and when Koda jumps for joy, it's so cute! i say listening, as i can't see the scene as i'm blind. yes, the rejected confession scene really wallops.
This is my favorite Disney movie behind the lion king! I am kinda glad it is underrated actually.
When I first got my dog I knew I wanted something unique but also Disney. I loved this movie growing up but I knew Koda/Kota was sometimes used as a short for Dakota so I changed the K to a C. Coda.
People love to forget about brother bear and tarzan soundtrack when talking about Disney’s best.
I love this movie
Brother bear came out the same year I was born but I only first watched it a couple years ago, and I instantly fell in love with it! I’m the oldest sibling and koda reminds me of my little brother :’)
Love this episode! This is one my favorites because it was the first Disney movie I remember seeing in the theaters and came out just a few months after my little brother was born. So of course I’ve been calling him my brother bear ever since. ❤️
If Brother Bear came at the time when the Lion King was new in theaters, those to would be rivaling each other that is also the same with Treasure Planet.
Best Christmas gift
this was the first movie that made me cry and i remember watching it in theater for the first time
Brother Bear is in my top 5 Disney movies, and it’s so underrated!!! I feel like only people on the west coast and Canadians have seen it 😂
This Movie Deserves a Live Action Remake
nice. Such an underrated Disney masterpiece. I really love the soundtrack as well. Phil Collins always delivers.
This is one of my favourite Disney movies
Loved this episode! Brother Bear is really special to me and I was so excited when I got the notification that this was posted. The music as well was such a big part of my childhood and it just has such a big place in my heart.
I love brother bear 😃😃😃
Nice! Love the video. Brother Bear just made it to the top of my re-watch list.
I also remember being 8 years old in 2005 and hearing that song playing during the 50th Anniversary. Love it!
Thank you for the positive review.
It’s been agggeessss! I’ve missed this ❤️❤️❤️
My how a year goes by quick. Revisiting this video was such a treat. Hoping to do an Alaska Disney+ movie marathon in January inspired by Togo. I realized there is quite a few. Mostly sled/dog and bear movies. 😄
Down to Disness is back? It really is Christmas!
LOVE this movie ❤️😊
I love these. Miss seeing you and Leo do popcorn talk videos !
look at the dvd and the confession scene they left out of the film. aouw, that really hits hard.
People say emporer new groove is the most underrated disney film. But nah, nah. Everyone I've ever met like emporer new groove, but no one ever seems to remember or even like brother bear!
Honestly is the most underrated disney film of all time
I’m so glad you chose to do Brother Bear! One of my dogs is named Koda after this movie. We chose then name Koda because......
1. When he was just a few weeks old him and the rest of him litter (all in a pic together) looked like bear cubs.
2. We already had one dog who is significantly older than Koda.
Please do one on the lion king, before the live action movie comes down.
Sarah!! Thank you thank you thank you for doing yet another Down to Disness episode!! I missed them so much, I could understand that you had more important things to do, but I was starting to think we wouldn't get another one until the CGI (not live-action) remake of the Lion King came out. I have hope again!! This is my fave mini-series on RUclips. Thank you!!
I might be mistaken but I could have sworn that they changed the Redwood Challenge Trail to some sort of Up-themed wilderness scout thing? I remember doing the Brother Bear handprint thing to find my totem when I was younger and I thought it was so cool, and I remember being disappointed that they took it out.
itslaurenze as far as I know they still have the totem thing inside the trail and you can meet koda there occasionally (as well as at storytellers). Sorry if my phrasing was off
@@SarahSterling You're fine! That's great if they still have it, I was probably pretty young the last time I tried to find it and likely just missed it :)
I have always loved this movie. It may not be perfect, but it is still AWESOME!
I actually like this film good cast and great art soundtrack to
Sarah, how are you? I know you probably have no time to do this, but these videos are my life and favorite in the entire internet. Since Lion King is coming out next month, could you please make an episode on that?
I felt like u just gave me a Christmas gift w this upload! Lol
Thanks to this review I found a used copy of this movie bought it and watched it with my girlfriend. I genuinely enjoyed it. Thank you.
I think brother bear might be the darkest Disney movie. Kenai kills Koda’s mother after she kills his brother... then he takes on a brotherly role for Koda.... but then Kenai’s brother thinks Kenai was killed so he goes to try to kill the bear he thinks killed him... but really Kenai is the bear he’s trying to kill. So it’s all just families killing each other by accident :/
This was the first Disney movie that I watched in cinemas! (And the first movie I watched in cinemas overall!)
I can't deside which is the most beautiful Disney movie ever (in terms of pure art brilliance): Brother Bear or Pocahontas 😊
bless you your one of the only people i know that actually had a okay reaction to this movie
This series is one of my favourites I really look forward to these videos
A new D2D episode! Merry christmas to me
I loved this so much. Thanks for sharing!
I missed this series 😍😍😍
I absolutely love brother bear! i even named my dog koda!
This really makes me want to watch it again! It's been ages! Thanks for all the interesting information! 😊
Hey Sarah we love your channel! Happy New Year!
I love Down to Disness! Great Mouse Detective and Home on the Range please!!
Awesome Review. one of the few review channels I have seen that has reviewed this movie. One of my favorites and loved watching my dad make this movie while growing up. Thank you for giving this movie light :)
I think you should definitely do Fantasia if you haven’t done that one yet.
Yay! Happy to see a new Down to Disness video!
I feel like one that is SUPER unrated is Bolt. I feel like everyone dismissed it but considering it was one of the few movies of its time from Disney that did half decently.. it also pushed through into the post-renaissance we have today. It was the best in a dry spell for disney and frankly the premise of a dog stuck in his delusion as a hollywood superstar is an interesting premise... and who doesnt love doggies :P
Yes! This movie is so underrated! That’s why I like it so much cuz it is so similar to lion king and Phil Collins makes everything better
Great review 👍
I love Down to Disness so much :) thank you for making these videos!
ngl knowing that they brought in real bears to reference makes a lot of sense because the bears were really well drawn.
Do brother bear 2!
Not animated, but would love to see a segment on the Herbie movies-- outside of "Toy Story," I can't think of a Disney franchise that has 3 sequels. Love the channel. and keep up the great work!
I think you should do the sword and the stone. Love all your videos!
I'm interested to see what you have to say about Big Hero 6, Ratatouille, Frozen, and The Great Mouse Detective. Great video btw!!!
My future requests:
Inside-Out
The Rescuers
Frozen
Wall-E
Fantasia
The Reluctant Dragon
Mary Poppins (and Mary Poppins Returns!)
And I was wondering if you'd consider doing any Disney films that are 100% live action, such as:
Return to Oz
Candleshoe (My favorite of the 70's live-action comedies)
Pretty sure Jeremy Saurez had a stint on Barney the Dinosaur. But Koda is his best work. Merry Christmas Sarah! 🎄
Yesss, love these.
Joaquin Phoenix was so excited to do Brother Bear but he didn’t do the sequel! BUT he doesn’t like doing a franchise which I appreciate! And time had passed between the movies so Patrick Dempsey wasn’t half bad
