12h in, and it actually did fix one of the two dead pixels on a 1440x900 VGA LCD monitor I got second hand for 15€! will try to leave it another night to see if it helps with the second one.
unless the display is an OLED display, it shouldn't change anything: the brightness is controlled by some light source that are independent to the pixels. Lowest brightness is therefore better, just to save some energy

Is it better if the displays is on the brightest setting? Or should the display be on low brighteness?

dont do this.my mouse thing on the screen isnt as smooth anymore and i still have some dead pixels.
Trying to use this for a projector 16:10 lol to get rid of that after image...
