I'm glad he didn't get a golden buzzer, it's basically a poisoned chalice. You get an immediate advantage, you can't sing as many songs, and people expect a lot from you. That's why the golden buzzers (other than Grace, because she's fucking amazing), have been in the Dunkin Save. I'm pretty sure Calysta is getting out in the Semi-Finals. We would've never heard this song if he got a golden buzzer.

Rick Stewart I think the same. People are still very judgmental, sadly. But time sets everything in its place. Same happened to Adam Lambert on American Idol, he got a lot of rejections even after the contest but now he is the most successful of his season. He even got to go on tour with Queen, c'mon! I'm sure great things are coming for Brian. This guy is a great artist, and you can see in his eyes he is a greater human being. Respect.

GREAT REACTION. We all go through life feeling inadequate at times, or not good enough. In addition, we spend much of our lives, wanting to be ACCEPTED. Creep draws out an emotional response from us.

I just listened to your suggestion but I wasna very impressed. She lacks power and range. I did like the fact that she started and finished singing the lyrics properly instead of half-whispering them in a the broken-voiced way that I presume is meant to convey hopelessness and despair. Yorke did it, and Crum does that too although his voice when he lets rip is really good.
Haley Reinhart with Postmodern Jukebox redefined the song with a very different interpretation - and very different, vintage jazz backing. More than a cover, it's THE definitive version of the song now. People do covers of her "cover".

Aye, there's plenty of everything to pick from. Funny you should mention Billie Holiday. I canna get into her at all. Except her singing of Strange Fruit. Her pained voice, which I don't normally enjoy, makes the song so powerful that listening to it leaves me an emotional wreck. Ironic. The singer I don't normally enjoy with that one song has probably the most powerful emotional impact on me of anybody.
@@gynack - Billie Holiday takes time. She's an aquired taste, like the blues, flamenco, Arab or Mongolian singing. I love them all.
Check out this Mongolian song by Tengger (in Mandarin). It's from a singing competition in China that Jessie J won in 2018. It has English subtitles. The blues feeling moves me. The beginning is traditional Mongol horse-head fiddles and Mongolian throat-singing. Let me know what you think.

Listen to what the judges had to say especially Howie. He not only showed his emotions on his face, but he shared his own suffering. Quite a statement for a man who is a star. I think that it's one of the highest compliments of BJC's vocal and stage greatness. How he didn't win this makes me wonder, "America, what were you thinking?"
Great reaction! Although I really like Brian's version of "Creep", my favorite is Scott Hoying (from Superfruit) and Caitlin Notey. It's amazing!

Check out Calum Scott doing Dancing On My Own on Britain’s Got Talent. He comes out on the stage a little rattled because his sister auditioned directly before him and was rejected. He was a bundle of nerves at first. He ended up recording the full-length song using his own £££ and was #1 for weeks.

You were probably already told but I don't see it on this front page of comments... Brian is American and did a bit of Broadway/musical theatre (hence the ability to truly perform - pulling you in, as you stated). :)

If you liked this one of Brian's, listen & watch his first audition. You mentioned Queen I believe...he sang "Somebody To Love." Creep was his second audition.
He would've won, I'm sure, if he'd been been on The Voice. He gets me every time I watch him. This one though gives me goose bumps every single time I watch it. And I mist up. He's absolutely amazing!!! I hope to have him sing some of my songs some day!!!
