Ed is also gifted in certain fields that his parents don't see. Like an asperger he absorbs information over things that interests him like learning how top spell ectoplasm and remembering it at the drop of a dime. He's also stronger than all life so he could go into all manner of physical labor without even a drop of sweat. Forget selling cars, Ed can deliver them to the door.
I can actually even see Ed becoming a hero someday, using his strength to randomly help someone in a pinch.

Despite Ed’s intelligence, I think Ed’s gonna be fine. Ed’s a great artist and will likely never quit it, also Ed’s a good handy man as shown when he worked for Rolf as Turkey Eyes and Rolf trusts Ed to watch his animals when he’s away. As long as hard work is involved Ed will succeed, I won’t be surprised if Ed becomes the manager of a comic book company when he’s older and it’ll be extremely successful too. Especially with Ed’s great emotional intelligence as well, he just doesn’t have a future as a used car salesman. So as long as Ed keeps hanging out with Edd/Double D & Eddy, Ed’s gonna be fine.
I'd imagine his abnormal strength and love monster movies. I imagine if you duct tape his mouth and put a costume to put him on some horror movies, I'm pretty sure he can be a star. With eddy as manager and double d as lawyer and accountant naturally.

I don't think Ed is necessarily stupid [or at least doomed to be a complete dumb@$$ forever] I just think that he's slow. He's definitely developmentally challenged, but I have a feeling he's going to catch up as he gets older, its just going to take him longer to get there than everyone else.
I have a feeling Ed is destined to grow up to be an auteur artist, a guy who makes all kinds of weird, yet compelling films and comic books, and while he'll hit a few dead-ends at first, he will find some success, though he'll do it primarily because making that stuff is his passion.
His family might never accept what he becomes -regardless of his success, save for maybe Jimmy, but I believe Ed will find success and happiness later in life, and I also believe that his friends will likely stay involved, Double-D the technical guy who helps him figure out the technical details, and Eddy the manager to keeps trying to mooch off of Ed's success.
Tangentially related, but I get the feeling that May Kanker will also become very different from her sisters, at least provided some distance is put between her and Maud and Lee
I remember seeing someone where the creator states that in adulthood Ed is actually very successful
All May needs is a friend to talk to IMO, that and a stern talking to about personal space and boundaries
I think May is like Eddy. She's a good kid at heart and genuinely loves Ed (in her own way) but she puts her abusive siblings on a pedestal and adopts their bad habits to 'fit in/be in control' which results in her toxic behaviour. Poor May.

I always loved Ed, he is not only one of the funniest characters on the show, but with how his kind soul makes up for his idiocy/flawed nature makes him one of the most likable characters.
Also my favorite line is “Swiggity Swag what’s in the bag” (thanks to YTP nostalgia, and my favorite moment is in the spy episode where they he just spends the whole episode obsessing over a coat hanger, until he needs to use a zipline, only to use his tongue instead of his hanger hand, thus slamming in the wall, it is funny yet oddly fun to think of doing IRL
I can see ed becoming a practical effects and makeup artist or a suit actor akin yo tom savini, tom woodruff jr or greg nicotero when hes older. He was shown in the episode fool on the ed for having a nack for assembling and painting model monsters and rockets and was able to convincingly portray a monster in the day the ed stood still
Shoot imagine Ed wearing and acting in Godzilla suits.
When Ed stool up for Eddy in the Big Picture Show and my fav line is “Without the bun, a sausage has no home” I know what that meant, But it just made me crave for hotdogs.
My favorite Ed line is “Look, Double D! The bus is coming! (Pulls out bus stop sign and grabs Double D) We gottem now!”
His behavior could also be a reaction to a partially dysfunctional family, if not some level of abuse. The affirmation car business and wanted to take over his dad seems to be distant and not caring much, his mom being more strict and clearly favoring Sarah giving her leeway to act like a spoiled brat. I mean hell they took out the stairs when he was grounded.
The thing I like about Ed is that he shows unrelenting love to his sister, even though she doesn’t reciprocate it back. In due time, Sarah will come to appreciate her brother’s love - without that boomerang.
i'd like to think that once sarah grows up a bit, she's just as fiercely protective over ed as he is to her-- maybe she wouldn't show it as blatantly but i feel like she would eventually come around at least a little bit

Ed being served as a turkey in one episode was kind of unexpected.
My favorite Ed line.... that's a hard one. There's a lot of "Ed-isms" that make me laugh.

Hearing about Ed's parents makes me want a reboot with an expanded cast showing the parents and their interactions with their kids. We were told however how they are when they grow up, Both Ed and Edd end up successful and I think Eddy struggles

I like to think if nothing else, Ed would very much enjoy AND thrive at agricultural work- he already loves animals, so being a farmhand could be right up his alley! And he definitely doesn’t mind getting his hands dirty 🤣
As for his parents though, I have this awful feeling that on top of being most likely intellectually challenged, Ed’s also the scapegoat to Sarah’s golden child. So I really hope Edd or Eddy let him stay with them once they move out or go to college. Or at the very least that maybe Rolf could hire him to work as a farm hand again with room+board.
There was the episode where Ed was hired to work on Rolf’s farm and after a discussion with Double D, Ed was surprisingly doing pretty good.

I definitely think Ed could make that job work really well- he might need a little correction at the start, but he’s got the passion and physical strength for it, and I think that’ll only improve as he gets older.
The thing that makes the “blame my parents” so much more gold, is that Eddy’s reaction is because Ed was stuck through a mailbox just moments just moments ago. It’s my favorite moment too, and that detail just adds so much.

Ed is like an allegory of someone who allows himself to be used and abused by others. He lacks so much wisdom, understanding, and maturity that he vulnerable to those who would prey on him.
Ed is a deeper than most people think. Most just say he's simple ot annoying, but tbh, I identify with him. I was very much like Ed as a kid.

That was the original plan for the Movie, as there was a cut scene revealing a bit about both Double D and Ed’s past (We would’ve found out what the dodgeball incident was in the formers case) Ed would’ve revealed that his name isn’t actually Ed and only called himself that so he could befriend Eddy because he thought he was so cool and Ed wanted to be his friend.
Sarah might be a nasty little gremlin but I do believe deep down she actually cares for Ed. When the other kids thought the Eds were being attacked in the "haunted house" her first response was to worriedly shout "Someone help my idiot brother!"
Hell all of the other kids have shown to care about the Eds deep down, even Kevin of all people.

I feel like if Ed was convinced to be hygienic he’d probably be the most popular person at school. The himbo “dumb but nice” type always seems like it attracts friends easily.
Ed was always the best character in the show. He always wanted to help his friends, he cared about those who hated him, and he was downright hilarious.😂

Is it any wonder that if Ed were a Saiyan along with his friends he'd essentially be a walking timebomb like Broly? Who knows what would happen to Sarah if she pushed him over the edge? Thankfully Double D and Eddy would make sure nobody ends up too worse off if he loses his temper.
My favorite Ed moment is when he (or Turkey Eyes) is working for Rolf, afterwards Edd and Eddy are now working under him. Then Eddy messes up and Ed and Rolf simultaneously shout “Hey Nincompoop!”. Rolf notices this, realizes Ed learned well from him and leaves him to handle Edd and Eddy on his own.

A personal favorite line from Ed that, to this day, Is till quote (sometimes reflexively oddly enough), is whenever Ed is surprised or panicking and screams "Who!? What!? When!? Where!? Whyyyyyyy!?" I started saying it as a bit when someone would call me and it's just kinda... stuck.

Also my favorite moment with Ed was with the one episode where the Eds are trying to bribe Kevin to giving them some Jaw Breakers. Pretty much Ed failed his attempt to do a spitball, but chewing up half a note book. Pretty much failing at doing a spitball while saying, "Oh no! my brain came out!".
I recently watched this series for the first time, so it was great to see a video like this.
Ed is my favorite Ed it's hard to pick one, I think the funniest was trying to help out after the swamp ride scam failed letting the others know he knows about sensitive sides bc he has a rash and just keeps going with the belly button suggestion after the other 2 are clearly disgusted. But overall "Eddy how do my feet smell if they don't have a nose" it's hilarious messing w older co workers or just people that never seen the show actually take that quote seriously and try to answer

Oh geez, I just realized, maybe the reason he's eager to eat inanimate objects is cuz of Eddy making him when they were younger and seeing how happy it made him.
I know that the moment Edd and Eddy become successful, they will give Ed a heavy job that they don't want to do, like moving boxes in a warehouse or being a construction laborer.

another thing that’s not that important to his character but still important to me is his _incredible_ strength. all the other kids seem to have pretty average muscle deftness for their age (except maybe Double-D) but ed the man can lift a fucking house like nobody’s business. he’s not smart, but he has incredible qualities in other areas. like he can swallow a whole fucking bed and is just like “yup, tasty snack.” he can go weeks, maybe even years without showering and eat old rotten food (may i mention sheldon the rotten cheese chunk?) and not get sick or really be harmed physically at all. the dude’s a fuckin animal with a heart of gold and i love him

I'm autistic, I think Ed is severely autistic. I think Ed when grows up he will work for Double D and Eddy for money. Ed will work, it's just that it will be unskilled work
Ed would be okay because he does have things with art and music, like playing the flute fluently. I think he might become a successful musician, comic book creator, or even a filmmaker since he loves movies, especially monster movies; he'll just be fine as long he has the right people who can help with his passion and his potential if he put the effort of doing it and he'll be fine.
There's one thing Ed needs: a family that cares for him and is concerned for his well-being and future. Ed needed parents who supported his passion and encouraged him to pursue those dreams instead of focusing on what his parents wanted him to do, like seeking the car sale business. I think Ed would be better with a relative who might care for him but support him and give him something that his "parents" never give unconditional love and support. Does anybody agree with me?

3:16-3:21 Ed doesn’t hate school that’s Eddy, Ed just hardly notices what goes on at school academically.
Ed doesn’t feel dumb to me. He feels, like a dork with strength, like a marching band kid. They don’t seem that smart, but they got strength. ED kind of represents the nerdy jock, his love of low budget monster movies is amazing, and sorta feels similar to a Tokusatsu fan that has only base level knowledge. He’s a low intellect nerd, like a kid that would have a power rangers dvd but only skips to when the robots are on screen. Ed is the soul of the trio, edd the brain, and eddy the heart.in my opinion, Ed has a bright future, he will forever act as the glue that holds the friendship together, and if he learned to control his strength, he could land one hell of a job.
I don't see Ed as a idiot. He's proven to be very smart in certain situations such as being a skilled forger and dealing with Rolfe's animals like a ranger - with a flute! I think Ed is just stunted due to severe parental neglect, and also probably being on the autistic spectrum. Ed is not my favourite character, but I relate to him alot and he's hilariously clumsy!
Facts: Mrs. Ed wanted a first born daughter but instead got Ed so that’s why Sarah is the favorite.

Not really. Ed is basically mentally handicapped, they’re certainly not doing the best at helping but it’s clear they want him to improve. Just because they’re not good parents doesn’t mean that anything that Ed does is their fault
