Honestly I had a pretty skewed idea of the "furrie" community before watching this documentary. I sought it out specifically so I could get a better glimpse and to understand. Understanding is the main reason people can love or hate something. When we do not understand something, we tend to demise, hate, and push it off to attempt to brush off that uncomfortable feeling of mental cognition. As a creative person myself, I have a better understanding of the fandom and no longer feel as negative toward it as I once have. If it's a productive, nonharmful way to express yourself through anthropomorphic causes then what's the problem? There are a plethora of ancient religions, cults, et cetera that have used these types of figures to represent their gods or personality traits. This, in a sense, is just a modern form of this art. Thank you for opening my eyes to this community. Although I do not have a care to be a part of this, nor do I approve necessarily of the "yiffing" aspect, I now have a greater appreciation for the subculture.
***** yea this is surprising been in it 2 or 3 years now just amazing sometimes by the comments we get sometimes hate and/or good comments that change there minds but don't hate or love it just...neutral. just where he/she is thanks for not hating us as much.
Except that Conway continues to spread rumors (that have been debunked years ago) to devalue the community that was already going strong years before he took over AC.
"Living my life in a way that i choose you say i should apologize is that envy in your eyes reflecting jealousy." ~ Ozzy Osbourne I think this fits right here.
I'm becoming a Furry myself and I have seen other videos trying to explain Furries and they did a good job. But I feel that this whole documentary answered all my questions and ones I never even though about asking. Thank you for taking your time to make it and share it with the world :)
JMPERager Mmmm... Though, with the current way many Bronies act these days, I can see where the negative opinions come from. Now, I'm not anti-brony, just to clarify. I have some good friends who are bronies. It's just unfortunate that there are many ruining it for the masses. THOUGH, things have got a lot more tame over the last half year, so you guys are heading in the right direction ^^ As for the negative opinions similar to the Furry community, there's not much anyone can do about it =/ ... the second ANY sexual material surfaces in any fandom, they'll be forever judged by it until the other content can far outweigh it. But thinking everyone fits that demographic just shows you're ignorant and closed minded.
TrueChaoSclx "Ignorant", "closed minded"? Nonono, I mean I agree there are a lot of bronies who are just complete assholes and that I'd rather not meet. But, from my experience on the internet, people don't really hate on furries more thinking they're extremely deviant and weird, that they hate on bronies. I mean all can connect their personality to an animal, but liking a TV-show originally aimed at little girls and their parents seems to be upsetting people a lot and making them think you're gay because you like ponies and such a TV-show. And when it comes to the sexual part, well I wasn't aiming at that at all. I was aiming at the documentary as a whole. This documentary and the 1h 20min brony documentary someone did has a lot of similarities in the way people treat us. Bronies have been around for a shorter time than furries obviously but we both are facing pretty much the same problems since we are in fact very similar comparing to other fandoms. And saying no to that is pretty closed-minded Now if I was saying we had more problems or more serious problems that would be ignorant and closed-minded.
JMPERager My "ignorant" and "closed minded" comments are towards the idiots who think along the lines of "all bronies are freaks and a blight on the human race", just to clarify ^^ Furry hate has gone down a bit in the last few years, I'll admit, but it's still around and quite heavy in places. I mean, just look at the comments on the first part of this documentary. It seems the sudden rise of MLP has drawn a lot of the haters off our backs, because they found an even better demographic to target. Though, I can't comment on media attention... How's that been to you guys (if you know)? Also, people will think you're gay for anything BUT being with a girl (or guy, if you are a girl). I put that down to social brainwashing, though =/ ... As far as issues go, all I can say is this: Neither of us are being actively hunted down, beaten, and/or killed (to my knowledge). So, I think we have nothing to complain about as of yet.
TrueChaoSclx My bad for not understanding you were pointing out the "ignorant" and closed-minded" to people in general, sorry. When it comes to the media, they've been quite professional form what I've noticed. No pre-judging us or anything, the media is quite calm. It's when it comes to haters and stuff mostly. But one thing is quite serious, there are parents, mostly in the US I believe, that dislike their children and presume they're gay because they watch MLP FIM. Seriously, PARENTS starting to dislike their own kids for it, it's not that usual but there a quite a few cases, quite disgusting to be honest.
Curt Pehrson I am very glad you made this documentary. It truly grasps and explains our fandom, and shows the fact that, despite the very small minority that does like furry porn, the rest of us don't really like it. We even take offense sometimes when other furries talk about it, and we will take offense if a porn-loving furry asks us to 'yiff', a furry term for sex. We don't like how the media has shown us as sex fanatics, and it has caused lots of trouble. I have a cousin in the Navy that told me some U.S. military people created what they call 'Furry Hunting'. They go out and find furries to beat up, for literally no reason. This is the media's fault, for showing us how they did. For that matter, if I am not wrong, a furry could be easily killed if attacked while wearing a fursuit, as some of the parts of the fursuit are sometimes metal, and can easily cut and stab skin. If a furry is even hugging to hard, by a little child, while wearing a fursuit it could be dangerous. This is a very nice set of videos, and I am glad you made them.
I just love Dr Conway, he is able to lay down the facts without being patronizing and be very funny. Thank you for making this documentary, I never could have made my Comm speech without it.
This is the strongest and most amazing part of the hole documentary... Curt, I thank you so much for putting this out, maybe now my family will understand me.. or at the vary least accept me as a fur.. If you do go to MMFF I would like to meet up with you and well, give you a hug.
Ummm, I have absolutely no way or place to say this... so here's better than any other place. *fingers hover over keyboard waiting for brain* I, well, hmm, I think, well, I am, should be, want to be? I guess I am a furry. Sorta. I dunno, like, I guess I think I am? Kinda? Yeah, not really sure 'bout that part, but I had this idea for a furry character named Hibrid. that in some aspects symbolizes me, but I don't really do art, but I'd kinda like a visual representation. But here's what he looks like, in case someone wants to draw it (doubt it): It's a colorblind, all-black fox with glow-in-the-dark colored eyes. The fur on his head and tail look like a black fire, kinda like Hades's mohawk from Hercules (Disney), except the same color as his fur. He has 2 katanas, one black and one the color of his eyes. The sheathes for the katana are the same colors of the swords and are aligned parallel, rather than diagonal, on his back. He also has a scar on the back of his neck. A bit of legend behind him: He was both a short-tempered and smart individual. His short-tempered side didn't usually show unless he was provoked, and his smart side was the opposite, always on and getting him in trouble. After he was involved in a near-fatal car accident, he was stricken with PTSD and would have an episode with sounds of metal twisting, glass breaking and tires slowly deflating every so often, thinking the other driver was out to kill him. He was human at this time, and had never even thought of animals as living beings. The car he collided with had an orange body with white doors. His mind saw it as a fox after the crash, but he wouldn't tell anyone, his therapist or his family. His mind was mislead by stress. He went into the woods in the dead of night and killed a fox, thinking it would remove the disorder in his life. He then thew the body in a fire and beat it, letting his temper get the best of him. The fox, strangely, wouldn't die. He heard whispers coming from behind him, but brushed it off thinking he was having an episode. He had a seizure near the fire and fell in. When he became aware again, he was in an all black room. A voice taunted him, telling him he was a sick, sick man and that his soul was tainted. Still disoriented, he looked down to see what he was doing, only to notice he had paws. He screamed at the voice, asking what happened to him. The voice explained that he had been forced to take on the persona of his spirit animal, a jet-black, colorblind fox with the only remains of him sealed in his mind by the scar on his neck, waiting to be freed. The fox is colorblind so he wouldn't see the color orange and immediately attack or kill whatever it was. The curse, however, did not render him fully colorblind. He could see two different colors that reflect his personality, White and Black. The White symbolizes his smart side. If he sees white, it leads to a smart, honest decision. Black, on the other hand, represents his short temper. He begins to pump with adrenaline and the Black fire on his head and tail become the color of his eyes, and he draws his sword. People with Black or White fur still appear Black or White, so he can sometimes mislead himself. Once he sees Black it isn't so easy to cool him down, as he can't think when he sees Black, he can only fight. I'm so sorry for rambling on, But I don't have any idea where else to say this! It took me roughly an two and a half hours to type this up and make a backstory. It was worth it, I just had to get it out, that's all! If you are reading this, please respond and, I dunno, say something!
brendan wooton Your a furry with a complex back story bro and there's nothing wrong with that Go get yourself a Furaffinity.net Account and ill fallow you. and as an intro to the community ill gladly give you a reff cuz your Fursona is so awesome!
+brendan wooton WEll I know this was a year ago and probably now really see yourself as a furry, and if you don't judging by this you really are haha :D If you have one please private message me or reply with your furaffinity account :D Thanks! PS: Your fursona and whole backstory is amazing!
I cant thank you enough for making this documentary about the furry fandom. On the rare occasion when the real world does mingle with my furry life, and peoples curiositys are roused I come here to show them. This video has given alot of positive aspect, and removed a large amount of negative ones for my friends who do know. And i go as far to say it has kept some of my friendships preserved, because this sends the message through that I don't want to yiff everything that moves :P Thank you
I've met quite a lot of furries during my time on the internet, going back about eight years up until now. While yeah, the stereotype that all furries are sex-obsessed weirdos isn't entirely true, to say that it's a complete myth is also fairly disingenuous, porn and fetishes are still really prominent in this subculture. Almost all of the furries I've known were at best really awkward nerds who would occasionally let slip that they were into freaky shit and at worst people who were preoccupied with their bizarre fetishes to the point where it was almost all they ever talked about. In addition, I've noticed that furries and various other subcultures that get closely associated with them seem really prone to outbursts of emotional drama, to the point where it sometimes reaches vendetta levels that result in nothing but tears and turmoil for everybody that bears witness to it. Sadly, I can't say I ever met someone who was a self-proclaimed furry who wasn't at least a little odd. With that said, I'm not saying that furries are inherently bad people, on the contrary some of those furries have been some of the closest and most interesting friends I've made online. It's also true what the narrator said at the start of the first video and what the Doc said in this one, many of the furries I've known are extremely creative and imaginative, sometimes to the point where it can make you a little envious. Some of the stuff you see furries make can make your jaw drop for the RIGHT reasons even moreso than the more infamous wrong ones. Sometimes good, sometimes bad, and always at least a little weird, but never boring. That's my take on what furries are like.
I feel that this part has the most positive feedback because these are the people that stuck around to see what we are really about, and in turn gained an understanding. Bright minds made brighter, and in turn, a more caring and accepting world.
this is definitely a very smooth, "finished" sort of documentary. it wasnt immature or ignorant in any way (unlike countless others i have seen) and it appeals to the viewer because of the depth of information, and not just stock footage of furres being silly. i really like that you went to head figures in the community unlike reporters, who must be scared to ask them out of fear theyll be shut down on their fetish assumptions. i wish to show this to my family so that they too will understand :)
I realized that the videos have less dislikes as they go along through the series, which tells me that the people watching this are starting to understand the fandom more, and that there are good parts to it. Good job on this video :)
I am an anime fan, and a cosplayer, and while I am not a furry, I have been interested in the fandom for a while, and had a lot of questions and misinformation. This documentary helped me "get it" more. You did a great job!
Excellent documentary! The way each topic was addressed showed what it's all about. Especially talking to Uncle Kage, he had some great stuff to talk about how the outside world thinks of the furry fandom. I'm really proud that you did this and I hope you do more.
Nice work with this. I've been getting into the fandom more, but early on I had a lot of reservations about getting too into it because of the immediate perception that people have when someone even says the word "furry" I'm hopeful that in the near future more people will start to become more open to what the majority of the fandom is instead of just paying attention to the minority. Thanks for making this!
I am very happy to hear someone has interviewed us without negative bias for a change, This is a pretty reliable information source aswell, and if i ever decide to explain the fandom to suspicious family members all i have to do is show them this video. It means a lot, Good luck, and may you prosper!
VERY nicely gone, guys. You made alot of people (wether they were mundanes, trolls, or even furries themselves) more aware of the concept of the fandom. One day once the time comes for me to tell my parents (and friends) about my furry-ness, I will probably explain it through this so they don't get the wrong idea.
I happened to stumble upon this, and i think this is wonderful. Being a furry myself, I am always loving people who do this and try to help others understand the fandom. Thanks for your work
Thank you for making this video and posting it. It really helps others understand the furry fandom. Also, RIP to Dan "Takaza" Hauschild who passed away on March 28, 2017.
you know, when i stumbled upon this doocmentary all slow motion and stuff i was like "oh god here we go again... another fantastic documentary to display what we are (insert sarcasm here)". HOWEVER.. this documentary of yours turned out to be, in my opinion one of the best ones ive seen so far. and what i like most about it is its honestly. it doesnt overlook anything, it has descriptions from various people therefore various looks and aspects of the fandom. so yeah, great job on the documentary
Kudos to you for this. It is probably the best video/movie of sorts to talk about and educate people on furries and what the fandom is all about. Much like Unkle Kage's "What is a furry" interview speech that is floating around youtube in like 6 parts or something. This is a great public view for the fandom and I must say I love how Kage explains the "Franks" of all societies, especially ours. Many thanks for taking the time to do this. This must be shown to the world :) Furry & Proud :3 ~KD
Thank you, sir, for finally creating a video that addresses the subject neutrally and objectively. It's very refreshing, especially because of all the furry hate out there. I commend you for being to make this without putting in personal feelings or bias, and it reflects well on what the fandom truly is. Thank you.
Amazing. Just amazing. This is the best documentary I've seen on the fandom, definitely worth the half an hour it took to watch. I'm a furry, and proud of it!
Just finished this documentary. It was excellent and the people you chose to interview were great. Very interesting to see where Uncle Kage's character came from and how he came into the fandom. Great job. I hope you make your follow-up documentary soon. MFF is just around the corner! Hopefully these videos will clear up some of the misconceptions people have and make them have a better understanding. Sincerely, Dare the Saber-toothed Tiger
Wow. This has been very informational toward me about what i thought about furries versus what i think now. I have been for a long time on a fine line of being a furry and not being a furry because of course what people might think, what it is about, and all these other things. I am a person with an open mind and a open heart and I realize that people think differently and have different interests. This quite interesting to say the least. I thank you of your research for it has seriously changed my opinion on this fandom and might have convinced me into being a furry. Ill still have to think on it more but im sure what choice i will make. thank you!
I have to say I'm someone who's growing in the furry fandom. I've always looked for an outlet of myself and furry fandom is it. After watching your vid it makes me more proud to be a furry. You only live once, why the hell waste time on worrying what other people think of you.
If i was in this video "I don't mean to disturb you, but come close." Whispers in ear. " sometimes, people think, or heaven forbid, have sex." "Yes, even your parents."
This sub culture is absolutely fascinating and full of wonderful artists and certainly very accepting, open-minded people! I am not a member of the community, but I entirely accept it. You seem to conjoin to such a family. Frankly this community has many more admirable qualities than the rest of the world.
@Xelig00n The song featured in the closing credits is called "Lost" by Jakob "Granite Tail" Riis. Specifically, the version without vocals. It used to be downloadable on his Fur Affinity account, but last I checked it was removed. You will have to contact him to ask for a copy. I do not have license to distribute the track beyond its use in my documentary. ~ Curt
Just watched the whole documentary and really it is great. As people have said before, it's a pity that there weren't any females that were interviewed. I really love Uncle Kage's quote "The desire to dream is primordial". As an artist I really have to agree with it. Thank you very much for making this documentary. Even though I've been in the fandom for a while now and discovered so many things already, I really enjoyed watching it. Kudos to you!
Wow... I have to say this is the most comprehensive look at the furry community yet. Thank you for giving furries like me a way to explain the fandom. For me the community is accepting and open, something that I have never seen before discovering furries.
...All went well. My mother is okay with it. Curt, i cant thank you enough for making this video. It helped me explain to her, what I am, and who furries are. Thank you so much Curt, and to all of those that were in the video.
I approve of this message. :D Finally a video that really does give an inside look, as well as dispel allot of how allot of the public sees our fandom. That is something I wondered myself, why was there not one single female shown, even if one was interviewed and did not make the cut? Would like to know, as my mate, she is a wonderful artist and fan of furryness, she would wonder that herself. Thank you all for producing, and showing this video to everyone who wants to see it.
ever since i started going on the internet i've pretty much been aware of furry fandom to some degree, but recently i've became so much more interested. this documentary was fantastic! ^^ i'll sub and keep an eye out for future work, i really look forward to it!
very amazing Documentary man, props to you the artwork and the people that decided to collaborate with you on the interviews through the whole discussion segment =D
In case it isn't said, thank you for this, I am a furry myself, and I believe that things like this will open up the worlds eyes to what we as a community stand for. Sinceaely, Dark Wolf Aka Nick
I'm not a furry, and due to how furries have frequently been portrayed on the internet I have had a very negative view of you guys. However, I think this documentary have helped me overcome that prejudice a great deal. It's a very sensible and interesting look into this fandom and the people in it. Well done!
In general, I liked it. I would have liked more footage of con activities so people could see what kind of innocent fun we're all having with their own eyes. People hugging, a cuddly furpile, generally bouncy, happy people. Also i agree with an above comment that a woman interviewee would have been cool. Lastly, more in-depth description of how people embrace the fandom (like through making costumes, drawing, writing stories, role playing, etc) I'd give it a 7/10. Good job!
These videos were fantastic! Thank you for showing us (furries) for who we really are & for sharing them with people! I enjoyed them very much, great production & professionalism! I would love to see any follow ups you make!
@Curt Pehrson Very much enjoyed this documentary. Rarely do I sit down and watch stuff on RUclips (much less for 30+ mins). Looked very professionally done and if you had had a British accent and someone told me this was going to air on the BBC... I would have believed them. I watch a lot of documentaries, so keep in mind that comment is not coming from nowhere. Loved the use of Depth of Field. Thanks for all the hard work in making and editing this so people like me could see it.
I am extremely impressed and am linking everyone I know to your videos. I have never seen better explinations or a more positive out look on furries ever presented in video before. Well done Curt!! (weird sayign Curt cause my 1st name is Curt lol)
Wow, simply amazing! Perfectly put together, and presents an unbiased, real opinion of what the fandom is. If anyone asks me "What is a furry", I will link them to this. Thank you for your outstanding job!
as a new furry since last year in the summer I watched this and I am happier than ever to be apart of this fandom, and when i told my family and friends that i am one they where and still are supportive of my choice, my parents have asked me more about the fandom my bf thinks that it's kool and my friends find it interesting as well :3
"being a geek is all about being honest about what you enjoy and not being afraid to demonstrate that affection. It means never having to play it cool about how much you like something. Ith's basicaly a license to proudly emote on a somewhat childish level rather than behave like a supposed adult. Being a geek is extremely liberating" ~Simon Pegg same aplies for furries.
I'm not a furry but I do have an open mind. What people don't understand about furries, is that this is actually a really old idea. There has been a society that accepted furries in past history. Take the Egyptian for example. Their gods were portrayed exclusively around the ideas of some sort of furry. Half man half crocodile, half man half jackel, half man half eagle just to name a few. Even the Greeks mythology where a women is half human half snake, or half horse half man. The problem with today society is that many people think their better than others and they view the norm as themselves, which to me is very bias in many ways. Eventually society will accept these groups but it takes time. Just like gays equal rights and black's equality which took time.
Awww... :) It's good to see someone who thinks that way. As a furry myself, I don't have anything against those who aren't furries. I wish there were more who thought like you!
This documentary is amazing! Thank you for making this! I can tell this has changed the minds of many. To be honest, lots of kids are becoming furries to! That's great! Making new friends and communicating! It is very sad though as well that people who dislike furries are hurtful in the most devastating ways...even to the younger furries get treated in multiple rude ways. As a furry myself I get hated all the time. Like I'm literally 14! The fandom is so outstanding! It accepts people for what the like to do! People expressing themselves in unique ways! This video almost made me cry. This was just outstanding. 😄😭
This was fascinating. Being a furry is really no different than an RPG. I am not a furry, but the costumes that they create is extraordinary. If you look at warriors, they base their tribe on animals. Native Americans especially would call on spirits of animals in ceremonies and have animal names in the tribe. These people are pretty much doing the same thing.
Wow, this was a really good documentary, it is well constructed and well edited. it made me learn so much about the fandom too. I love being a furry, its so fun. :) From a technical point of view, I love the construction of this documentary. :)
As an anime fan, I can see a lot of parallels in the fan cultures, especially cosplayers of course. Wearing another persona, social networking, being branded as a fetish (like Kage does here...) This kind of gives some perspective on how outsiders might see anime, or any niche fan cultures.
A very well done documentary c: It had great info coming from different furs around the MFF It definitely shows that most (if not all) of the haters' ''yiffy'' assumptions of the whole community are incorrect
Hey im not a furry but this has cleared a few things up for my im a creative person too i have a human alter ego that one day i hope to create a game for and watching some furry vid has gave me the idea of puting anthros in the game series at some point
well you live on an island shaped like a crab claw which has two sides one side is a modern day city but the other is a medieval village you live on the medieval side with your sister and granddad everyone who lives on the medieval side has cool powers to control fire ice and electricity while the people who live in the modern city are just normal people but have a powerful army the story tells of a man from the medieval side that has the power of darkness that want to destroy the modern side but not the medieval side but after capping a volcano for about 5 years too much pressure has built up so if it erupts the whole island will explode and he don't want that so it's your job to find out about your powers and stop him in the end the man will realize his mistake and help to recap the volcano
Truthfully, I am inspired to know that you judged wrongly. A person can be whoever they chose to be because that is who they are. You have every right to be interested, just as I was when I was 16 (now I'm 22, and still a Furry). He is right when first impressions make a lasting impression.
i thank you curtehrson. :) because of these videos you did when people ask about our kind i can link em here. ^^ i may be a closet furry to people i personally know. but to my friends far away im as open as any other furry. thank you again for shedding light to people who are ignorant :)
Thank you for this documentary. I'm currently just starting to discover a furry part of myself, though I don't yet have a fursona. I have to say, this documentary made me a lot less worried about the people I might meet.
LEGANDof EMILY I'd say like 65% to 75% of the population is pretty much men. The interviewer probably just didn't grab one to talk to. Usually the women are SUPER into like the guys, the guys typically know more about it overall.
It depends on the person , not the gender but I do agree on a population stand point. However it would have been nice to see some variation. No problem though! :)
LEGANDof EMILY I meant to say "usually the women AREN'T SUPER into it like the guys". My keyword was "usually" however. There are definitely some women in the community who know their stuff.
I find myself watching this documentary at least once every month. Each time I watch it, I have come back with an even greater understanding of both the fandom, and each of its problems and fine points to admire. I study hard into the fandom, and have done so for as long as I can remember--I study it just as much as I practice it. What I have learned ultimately, is that the best influences for our name, are putting a smile on your face and doing what makes you happy while here with fellow furs.
I'm a surviving/thriving First Waver (1951) who eventually realised that he is an essential two-spirit shaman, Jungian transactional dialogic therapist, & a fine art/cyber-art therapist. These Wondrous Strange Human Beings are so very much a vital part of the Reawakening Cycle now gathering inevitably natural & healthy momentum. Oscar Wilde said, "Give a man a mask, & he'll tell you the truth". And Marlene Dietrich commented about Americans' obsession with sex, which is merely a fact of Life.
Having a Fursona isn't the only thing that makes a Furry. There are Furries out there who do not even have one. You can be a fursuiter, you can be just an artist, a fursuit maker, an anthro enthusiast. Can be one thing or all at the same time. There is no one definite definition for a Furry. Humans with animal characteristics are still furry in a way. But there is a certain line crossed from being a cat-eared girl(called a NekoMimi) and an anthropomorphic being. I hope that kind of helped.
I spent some time in the documentary addressing the sex issue because of the almost comical lengths some people go to portray the fandom squarely as a fetish. The comments section here alone is a tribute to that. The fact is, the furry fandom seems to consist primarily of college-age males. If they create a fictional character to represent themselves, it's not much of a stretch to see that they would also transfer some of their own youthful sexuality to that representation of themselves.
The video, all 3 parts was inciting and informative. I'm on Second Life and created a furry avatar and been so since 1 Jan of this year (2014),. I enjoy and hope to learn more about the wonderful community. Thank you and keep up the great work! Proud to be a furry!
this was very interesting to watch. When I first discovered the furry fandom I was very repulsed by the sexual material. However, as you stated in this documentary, there seems to be more to the furry fandom than that. There is, just as within any art form, a great deal of beauty that can be found. As I've given it another chance, I've found a furry musician who creates extremely beautiful music. As of right now I am unsure whether I consider myself a furry or not, that will remain to be seen.
Well he mentions that in his explanation. He realized it was apparently too much to hope for it to not get circulated. Although he did get it to only one person on youtube still having the video up, but he allowed that to let ppl see it since it became such a phenomenon. We don't know who from the participants reposted it, that info was never given I don't think. It was a linked video and the link was only shared with those select few.
sure my family accepts me as a fur and so do my friends but i really want other furs parents or siblings to see that not all of us are in the fandom for sex or porn art but for love and acceptance just like a family :)
Whereas your question is valid, most furs (me included) don't typically see the fandom in this way, and your right, those who do don't seem to have a straight answer, but its like asking a straight or gay person why they think the way they do. I truly think that there really is no answer, but if there is do we really want to know it? I honestly don't know any furs who see the fandom in a sexual manner, so even to me its a very strange concept. I say to each their own; its none of our business.
"you go do that, ill be ready to call 911" XD
Honestly I had a pretty skewed idea of the "furrie" community before watching this documentary. I sought it out specifically so I could get a better glimpse and to understand. Understanding is the main reason people can love or hate something. When we do not understand something, we tend to demise, hate, and push it off to attempt to brush off that uncomfortable feeling of mental cognition.
Whoa.. this documentary was amazing! I think this was THE best POSITIVE documentary of furries I've seen.
Except that Conway continues to spread rumors (that have been debunked years ago) to devalue the community that was already going strong years before he took over AC.
@@sysable How do you know uncle kage is spreading rumors?
i know it is kinda off topic but does anybody know a good website to stream newly released movies online?
@Leighton Marcellus i watch on flixzone. You can find it by googling =)
People are stupid . . . . Furries are amazing
+Emily Andrews Tbh people can be amazing too. You don't have to be a furry to be awesome.
"Living my life in a way that i choose
you say i should apologize
is that envy in your eyes reflecting jealousy."
~ Ozzy Osbourne
I think this fits right here.
I'm becoming a Furry myself and I have seen other videos trying to explain Furries and they did a good job. But I feel that this whole documentary answered all my questions and ones I never even though about asking. Thank you for taking your time to make it and share it with the world :)
I wish more people could watch this before judging the Furry community. Spot on, guys.
Indeed, same should be with the brony documentaries...
JMPERager Mmmm... Though, with the current way many Bronies act these days, I can see where the negative opinions come from. Now, I'm not anti-brony, just to clarify. I have some good friends who are bronies. It's just unfortunate that there are many ruining it for the masses. THOUGH, things have got a lot more tame over the last half year, so you guys are heading in the right direction ^^
As for the negative opinions similar to the Furry community, there's not much anyone can do about it =/ ... the second ANY sexual material surfaces in any fandom, they'll be forever judged by it until the other content can far outweigh it.
And saying no to that is pretty closed-minded
Now if I was saying we had more problems or more serious problems that would be ignorant and closed-minded.
JMPERager My "ignorant" and "closed minded" comments are towards the idiots who think along the lines of "all bronies are freaks and a blight on the human race", just to clarify ^^
Furry hate has gone down a bit in the last few years, I'll admit, but it's still around and quite heavy in places.
This has taught me a lot and I will no longer make fun of furries and apologize for all the times I have.
Oh really?
this documentary has really opened my eyes to what i see myself as a person. and a furry. thank you so much for making this. youve changed my life.
oh my god this is probably my most favourite documentary i have ever seen! it's great, i love it so muchh
Thank you!
+Curt Pehrson you're welcome! you did an excellent work, for real!!
I would too
^_^
This is prolly one of my favorite comments on the subject. I agree with 80% of it.
Verminator4 Any furries been on To Catch A Predator? "Uncle Frank"
Furries aren't sex I obsessed!! Most furries are kids though
this is probably the best documentary on furries i've ever seen, it's simple, yet in depth and explain the fandom very well.
Thanks for your work
Well done, my friend. You, with three simple videos, defined the fandom, with the true definition the it sorely needed. Thank you!
Gawd this ending. You are a genius Curt. This ending had so much feeling... the song added so much to it... God I'm litterally shaking.
This must be shown to the world :)
Furry & Proud :3

Thank you, sir, for finally creating a video that addresses the subject neutrally and objectively. It's very refreshing, especially because of all the furry hate out there. I commend you for being to make this without putting in personal feelings or bias, and it reflects well on what the fandom truly is. Thank you.
even though it's a neutral video it still demonises your entire existence, are full plebian retards
Sincerely,
Dare the Saber-toothed Tiger
Very well put ^^ Haha have fun being you
Fun fact: when I was 13 furries saved me from suicide and now I'm living the happiest I could get in the furry fandom, depression free!💖
If i was in this video "I don't mean to disturb you, but come close." Whispers in ear. " sometimes, people think, or heaven forbid, have sex."
"Yes, even your parents."
This is exactly what I would have done myself
This sub culture is absolutely fascinating and full of wonderful artists and certainly very accepting, open-minded people! I am not a member of the community, but I entirely accept it. You seem to conjoin to such a family. Frankly this community has many more admirable qualities than the rest of the world.
Seeing documentaries like this make me year up in joy
*tear
this is the best furry documentary i think i ever seen ♥ thank you so much for creating it and putting it out on the web
the song at the end made me emotional...Very nice documentary
@Xelig00n The song featured in the closing credits is called "Lost" by Jakob "Granite Tail" Riis. Specifically, the version without vocals. It used to be downloadable on his Fur Affinity account, but last I checked it was removed. You will have to contact him to ask for a copy. I do not have license to distribute the track beyond its use in my documentary.
~ Curt
This makes me proud to be in this community...
I'm so happy with how this was executed.
Thank you, thank you so much...
Very well done. Seriously wonderful 3 part program. Thank you for doing this for the Furry community.
This is possibly the best description of furs there is. Thank you :)
ever since i started going on the internet i've pretty much been aware of furry fandom to some degree, but recently i've became so much more interested.
this documentary was fantastic! ^^
i'll sub and keep an eye out for future work, i really look forward to it!
That was pretty good, I'm glad you did this. Thank you, it almost brought tears to my eyes having these amazing people explain this :)
very amazing Documentary man, props to you the artwork and the people that decided to collaborate with you on the interviews through the whole discussion segment =D
In case it isn't said, thank you for this, I am a furry myself, and I believe that things like this will open up the worlds eyes to what we as a community stand for.
Sinceaely,
Dark Wolf

Nick
I'm not a furry, and due to how furries have frequently been portrayed on the internet I have had a very negative view of you guys. However, I think this documentary have helped me overcome that prejudice a great deal. It's a very sensible and interesting look into this fandom and the people in it. Well done!
After seeing this, I definitely feel more of a connection to the fandom
In general, I liked it. I would have liked more footage of con activities so people could see what kind of innocent fun we're all having with their own eyes. People hugging, a cuddly furpile, generally bouncy, happy people. Also i agree with an above comment that a woman interviewee would have been cool. Lastly, more in-depth description of how people embrace the fandom (like through making costumes, drawing, writing stories, role playing, etc)
I'd give it a 7/10. Good job!
Dude I feel by far this is one of the best documentaries that I have seen on us Furries Thank you ^__^
These videos were fantastic! Thank you for showing us (furries) for who we really are & for sharing them with people! I enjoyed them very much, great production & professionalism! I would love to see any follow ups you make!
@Curt Pehrson
Very much enjoyed this documentary.
"The desire to dream is primordium".
Am I saying that right?
Awesome stuff, amazing video.
This was great and amazing especially when it comes to breaking things down to the people who still dont understand things right now about the fandom.
as a new furry since last year in the summer I watched this and I am happier than ever to be apart of this fandom, and when i told my family and friends that i am one they where and still are supportive of my choice, my parents have asked me more about the fandom my bf thinks that it's kool and my friends find it interesting as well :3
Wow, couldn't have said it better myself. Great job on this documentary, well thought out and executed.
I'm.. SO late to the party, but I may or may not be crying.
Wish I would have seen this documentary when it came out.
"being a geek is all about being honest about what you enjoy and not being afraid to demonstrate that affection. It means never having to play it cool about how much you like something. Ith's basicaly a license to proudly emote on a somewhat childish level rather than behave like a supposed adult. Being a geek is extremely liberating"
~Simon Pegg
same aplies for furries.
This Documentary is great, I'm going to show this to my friends who don't understand furries.
It explains the fandom perfectly
This documentary is awesome! Many more people should watch it
Thank you for getting this straight. People in this generation will always judge things very fast. If only this video had more views.
I'd also like to say Thankyou for this Documentary, it was balanced and fair and finished up with Uncle Kage. ;)
Wow, this was a really good documentary, it is well constructed and well edited. it made me learn so much about the fandom too. I love being a furry, its so fun. :)
From a technical point of view, I love the construction of this documentary.
Yiff means the Sound of artic fixed mating Not sex in a Fursuit
LONG LIVE FURRIES :D
Hey im not a furry but this has cleared a few things up for my im a creative person too i have a human alter ego that one day i hope to create a game for and watching some furry vid has gave me the idea of puting anthros in the game series at some point
that's awesome can you tell me more about the game it sounds cool
well you live on an island shaped like a crab claw which has two sides one side is a modern day city but the other is a medieval village you live on the medieval side with your sister and granddad everyone who lives on the medieval side has cool powers to control fire ice and electricity while the people who live in the modern city are just normal people but have a powerful army the story tells of a man from the medieval side that has the power of darkness that want to destroy the modern side but not the medieval side but after capping a volcano for about 5 years too much pressure has built up so if it erupts the whole island will explode and he don't want that so it's your job to find out about your powers and stop him in the end the man will realize his mistake and help to recap the volcano
awesome I hope that you make it it sounds so cool .do you play roblox
nope
I love this documentary. Thank you for making it!
Truthfully, I am inspired to know that you judged wrongly. A person can be whoever they chose to be because that is who they are. You have every right to be interested, just as I was when I was 16 (now I'm 22, and still a Furry). He is right when first impressions make a lasting impression.
I don't know what to say about this but I liked it and I hope it changes people minds about furries
I think I might have found a new fandom :)
i thank you curtehrson. :) because of these videos you did when people ask about our kind i can link em here. ^^ i may be a closet furry to people i personally know. but to my friends far away im as open as any other furry. thank you again for shedding light to people who are ignorant :)
The world needs more people like you!!
Thank you for this documentary. I'm currently just starting to discover a furry part of myself, though I don't yet have a fursona. I have to say, this documentary made me a lot less worried about the people I might meet.
I wish they had interviewed some women
LEGANDof EMILY I'd say like 65% to 75% of the population is pretty much men. The interviewer probably just didn't grab one to talk to. Usually the women are SUPER into like the guys, the guys typically know more about it overall.
It depends on the person , not the gender but I do agree on a population stand point. However it would have been nice to see some variation. No problem though! :)
LEGANDof EMILY I meant to say "usually the women AREN'T SUPER into it like the guys". My keyword was "usually" however. There are definitely some women in the community who know their stuff.
Ah okay! Makes more sense now. I agree. Seems like the only women that are well into the fandom are very popular. Is that just me that sees that?
LEGANDof EMILY Eh maybe? Just look at Telephone. XD
If your getting that many pop ups on your computer about porn then you have greater issues
Beau Guthery Someone needs Malware-Bytes lol.
This clears up a lot of what I thought of the fandom thanks.
I think this docu was very well done. Thank you for this.
this was very interesting to watch.
My heart has been moved. Thank you.
I found these videos very educating. Mind-opening, if you will. Thanks for making and posting these. It has certainly piqued my interest.
