Explanation: You get this ending when you defeat Lavos after defeating Magus but before defeating Azala and the Black Tyrano. You see, Lavos was responsible for the extinction of the Reptites and the evolution of the humans, so defeating it before it killed off the Reptites means that they never went extinct. Ergo, they ended up evolving to become the dominant species on the planet.
Technically, if the Reptites won then that already means Crono stumbled into a timeline where Lavos didn't even fall into the earth (yes, there's a confirmed timeline where this happens, Dinopolis and Chrono Cross' Dragonians are from said timeline).
I find this intriguing, can you tell me more about this timeline and how it all leads into each other; especially, with the Dragonians and Dinopolis. I've read fandom of it but am curious to more.
I think its freakin' sick that the developers had the genius to put multiple endings in this game, to give us more than 11 reasons to play again and again. Kudos to you Squaresoft. Truly a masterpiece.
@Luigi4evermarionever the amount of paradoxes, impossibilities, contradictions, broken timelines, and ommissions from logical commencation in chrono trigger are so heavy, you just have to say to yourself, 'Fuck it. Time and shit happened, and this story is more than enough to make up for irrelevent time shenanigans unless they're plot crucial.'
@Kusuriurite Indeed! If you saw the guy in the beginning of the game, he's dressed as a Reptite. So, if he really really WERE a reptite, then he'd be dresed as a human. Thus, him in this ending.
Well, Chrono Cross confirmed that there was at least one alternate world where the Reptites won and eventually evolved into Dragonians, creating Dinopolis and using the energy of the planet in a similar way to how the Mammom Machine used Lavos' power. That said, who knows what happenned to that alternate timeline once Dinopolis, and it's power supply, were dragged into Cross' timeline.
@Luigi4evermarionever Not endless and not repeative, every person's choices have different effects on their own universe. While the chance of Retite Chrono going back in time and doing this again might occur, there are also chances that it might not. Or something differently might occur.
B: Following this ending in the Reptile Age, they help the Reptiles once and cripple the humans, then they leave but don't take Azala with them as they can't due to the weakness of the Time Gate not allowing 4, and there's Azala and the big dinasour thing. Because of previously crippling the humans, Azala alone was able to defeat them. Since remember Crono and his friends helped the humans earlier as humans, but now as the reptiles they fight against the humans at that time. Make sense?
oh now i get it you get this after defeating lavos after magus so that means the reptites defeated the humans so the future has been replaced with reptites
in this ending everybody are reptiles because it was Lavos who destroy the reptlies in the prehistory but when lavos was kill, the reptlies kill ayla and the human race
The timeline in Chrono Trigger obviously changes based on Crono's actions. There is no "always has been" in this universe. Timelines are born and discarded (see: Chrono Cross) based on the actions of time travelers. Originally, Crono wasn't there... and somehow the humans won. My theory? Originally there never WAS a battle. Ayla was never emboldened by Crono, never fought Azala at Tyrano Lair, and Lavos crashed and killed Azala. In this timeline, Lavos never crashed, due to temporal timewaves.
@Luigi4evermarionever They decide to hunt for Lavos because they see the destroyed future. If Chrono destroys Lavos in 1999AD then the future isn't destroyed so even if Reptile Chrono does end up time traveling he wouldn't go after Lavos, it would have been just fun brief adventure avoiding some soldiers.
I thought about it, makes perfect sense to me... The original background was that Azala was defeated by Ayala. This caused the humans to end up victorious. However, Crono interphered and this caused Ayala to follow him. Since she seems to not have gone back after defeating Lavos, she didn't go back in the past to defeat Azala. Because of this, the Dino Age began, with the Reptiles becoming victorious and dominating.
That was a play on Metal Gear Solid 3. To answer you question, it goes on with EVERYBODY as reptites, save for the ONE reptite that was in the race at the millennial fair which was humorously replaced by the only human.
I think it is not because they didn't helped the humans in the past, if you remember well, in the past lavos felt from the sky in a comet, near the reptites lair, if chronos defeated him before he felt, so it may have a influence great enough to the humans lose the war
That's pretty strange if you think it, I know sometimes it's better not to think about the time paradox too much, but in order for this ending to make sense, Lavos should have been defeated before it struck the world's surface, shouldn't it?
haha nice.. the story itself depends on the time where u defeated lavos.. haha :) the story writer is such a witty person making different endings like this,
Makes me wonder why they did not made an alternate playing mode in the Dino age. The only thing they would have to change is: Any Dialogue concerning reptiles to humans, Switch Reptiles with Humans and Vice Versa, Simple task. Make special sprite for the main characters and main supporting cast, and alter the Old Age Story line to where you go against Ayla instead of helping her. Except for the specialized sprites, is not such a big task.
Because its not an alternate world like that. Humans still existed but were defrated. This ending only happens if the female leader of tje cavemen doesn't return to faece Azala so she wins.
Maybe Crono alters the time line in which humans win the battle when Crono arrive with Ayla and that caused what the Reptites win (Sorry Google Translator) :P
This is an enigmatic point, because then we have to ask; Because Chrono didn't do that now, was there another time line in which he did and it just branched off? Or was this all pre-destined? This is a deep philosophical question that cannot be easily answered...Good point, however un-refined it was. ;)
Now with this dino age, when Crono and his friends go to the past, they would be helping the reptiles. Now this would cause either: A: Crono and his friends defeat Ayala and the humans, helping the Reptiles as they are Reptiles. This follows through the normal story and ending.
THIS MEANS, if Lavos would never have landed, the Reptites would've survived, defeated the humans, and thus the Reptites became the dominant species. Without Lavos landing onto the planet, the humans would have never defeated the Reptites.
Yeah, I knew. It's just annoying how they always kept on changing names. But yeah, their best stuff is their older stuff. I say that cause it's the old that made Chrono.
You cannot re kill something already dead. Lavos was killed breaking the bonds of time resetting everyone to the proper time but leaving all changes made. so there would be no need to re kill a dead lavos. it would feel as if Lavos never existed and everyone was already like this. My best guess
i believe that if humanity survived because of Chrono, then.. Chrono should have been born a reptile the first time, no? Because if he did nothing back in 65 and a lot BC (which he couldn't, as he was born 65 001 000 years later), this ending shows how the game should start (and end). My brain hurts too....
Unfortunately it's not that simple. ALL time paradox's have to do with Lavos' influence. The Reptites lost without Crono existing yet so.. it has to do with time paradox's and Lavos...Lavos influences all time periods not the Queen of Reptites Azala heh...
Lavos was killed in 1999, but reptites win against humans because Chrono and the others didnt care to save ayla's captured mates. Ayla alone couldnt defeat Azala.
Well lets be honest, the developers use a very loose interpretation to time travel, usually only when it benefits their flow of story. Next, it could be like in Soul Reaver 2. Crono, in every single possibility always went back on a journey through time, history depends on him going back through time to get to where he was coming into existence in the first place. Either way it's one hell of a pime taradox.
THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN... even if chrono wasn't there, the humans actually won over the Reptites! If not how did the original timeline have humans as the dominant race? so whether chrono was there to help ayla or not does not matter
actually people say time travel changes the future but it doesnt because in the future people think its wat was posse to happen..............my brain just got raped because im confuseing myself

This is what happens if you beat Lavos but don't save the human race from Azala. It's a joke ending but very appropriate in context.
Ben, you can complete the story whenever you want if your team is strong enough. You can even do it without bringing Crono back to life.
God dammit, humanity lost again.
Anything can happen in this world but there shall always be cats. :D
Springfield Ohio says different. 😂

Ancestors of modern humans were jailed (and killed) by Azala's team so human race died and reptiles won.
azala finally won
I would say time traveler's immunity, but... Frog Marle.
This....just hurts my brain when i consider the options...
This is the best ending. When you travel in time, make sure you don't destroy the timeline boys and girls!
Best ending.
I love these time travel what-ifs! Time travel in general is fascinating, and this just blew my mind way back when. good memories. :)
Not everybody is reptite, G.I. Jogger managed to stay human by running away from all that timewarp confusionism!
G.I Joggers like gota go fast bitch!!!
3:00 LOL in the race the reptile turned into a human in the alternate timeline.
LMAO
And a person change into Kiwala.
What do you think could've happened to Dinopolis and it's supply after being dragged back, I'm really curious.
No problem, I'm glad you liked it
In the first part, Lavos screams in laughter
@TimelessOne123 The tyrano lair is pushed underground by Lavos' impact, but there's no actual Reptites in there, just dinosaurs and fossil apes
Thanks for posting this ending. I never got a chance to see it because I was interrupted. Interesting ending I must say.
@Luigi4evermarionever Not endless and not repeative, every person's choices have different effects on their own universe. While the chance of Retite Chrono going back in time and doing this again might occur, there are also chances that it might not. Or something differently might occur.

Make sense?
I've always wondered... How come there's a reptite in the Fair Race, if they were all killed back when lavos arrived...
i think these are costumes.
And in this ending there's someone disguised as human lol
“Remember our enemies from long ago?”
Ever seen Back To The Future? Chrono Trigger cranks the plot of that movie up to 11.
oh now i get it you get this after defeating lavos after magus so that means the reptites defeated the humans so the future has been replaced with reptites
This is what you get when you mess with time!
wtf look in the minute 3:12 its frog in the race!
in this ending everybody are reptiles because it was Lavos who destroy the reptlies in the prehistory but when lavos was kill, the reptlies kill ayla and the human race
Crono, you can't do that! You've created a time paradox! *dun dun duuunnnn*
Its not like that. Azala won because of the cavemen brave female leader not returning to face her. This ending happens if you dont face Azala.
@Aeroil Then what about the Reptite remnants in Giant's Claw in 600AD?
Joke ending but not so bad. By the way, I feel sorry for Ayla and human race.
@ShadowStar1224 They'd all suddenly end up being humans?
This is what you get for screwing around with the timeline!
@darklight286 no, but since crono didn' help ayla out the apes lost against the reptites, thus from that moment on reptites survived 'till that time
That was a play on Metal Gear Solid 3.
To answer you question, it goes on with EVERYBODY as reptites, save for the ONE reptite that was in the race at the millennial fair which was humorously replaced by the only human.
It's almost as if Crono had already visited the past when he starts his journey!
That's cool.
I think it is not because they didn't helped the humans in the past, if you remember well, in the past lavos felt from the sky in a comet, near the reptites lair, if chronos defeated him before he felt, so it may have a influence great enough to the humans lose the war

So is this alternate universe that will end up having Dinopolis pulled out of it's dimension.
Maybe Crono alters the time line in which humans win the battle when Crono arrive with Ayla and that caused what the Reptites win
(Sorry Google Translator) :P
where do you see him??
The reptites die in the ice age regardless of whether or not Azala is defeated at the Tyrano Lair. This ending is silly and obviously non canonical
Turning a funny joke alternate ending into an important plot point in the sequel. That's either the stupidest idea ever or the smartest idea ever.
THE GUY WHIT HAIR GREEN BELIEVE ME
What I don't get is, how did this evolution take place after Chrono screwed up the past?
David Icke liked this ending
I like how in the race with the four creatures, the reptite got replaced with a human xDDD
My eye's! What monstrosity did they turn my beloved Chrono's Mom into?!
How is this a video response to itself?
lol nice, and more like crono you've made 9 time paradoxes lol
This is an enigmatic point, because then we have to ask; Because Chrono didn't do that now, was there another time line in which he did and it just branched off? Or was this all pre-destined? This is a deep philosophical question that cannot be easily answered...Good point, however un-refined it was. ;)
They need to settle on a freaking name though, Square, squaresoft, square enix, it goes on!
No, they replaced the reptite that used to be there with a human. There are plenty of sprites like that in the game, besides Glenn.
Now with this dino age, when Crono and his friends go to the past, they would be helping the reptiles. Now this would cause either:
A: Crono and his friends defeat Ayala and the humans, helping the Reptiles as they are Reptiles. This follows through the normal story and ending.
Actually,he is switching alternate dimensions, that's why he didn't affected us.
What a happy ending!(At least for the Reptites)
Talvez Crono altero la linea te tiempo en la que los humanos ganaban cuando llego con Ayla y eso causó que Ganaran los Reptites
i think during saving the future... something somewhere went TERRIBLY WRONG
THIS MEANS, if Lavos would never have landed, the Reptites would've survived, defeated the humans, and thus the Reptites became the dominant species. Without Lavos landing onto the planet, the humans would have never defeated the Reptites.
when is dino self goes back he will be rejected by the humans and attacked therefore never having the chance to fix the problem. there paradox solved
Yeah. but then the Reptites wouldn't have attacked him on sight.
Yeah, I knew. It's just annoying how they always kept on changing names. But yeah, their best stuff is their older stuff. I say that cause it's the old that made Chrono.
haha I like how one of the racers is still a human...and there seem to be many more cats in this alternate 1000 AD...
@Inot16 thats what i ment
Yep.
chrono and the rest of the team couldn`t help ayla to defeat the reptiles so they defeat the humans
Lavos disliked this video.
Is it because they never defeated Azala so then the reptites won?
You cannot re kill something already dead. Lavos was killed breaking the bonds of time resetting everyone to the proper time but leaving all changes made. so there would be no need to re kill a dead lavos. it would feel as if Lavos never existed and everyone was already like this. My best guess
Its just that the reptiles won against tje caveman because their brave leader never returned with them.
LMAO look at the human 'costume' in Leene's Square. Originally in the game, it's a reptite. XDD
but wait if you were already human...... what does not fighting the reptite leader have to do with anything he already obviously wouldve lost
They forgot to defeat Azayla, so the reptiles took over the world?
Yea that is correct.....
Hehe its all theoretical...who knows what would actually happen if one of us did slightly alter the course of time
i believe that if humanity survived because of Chrono, then.. Chrono should have been born a reptile the first time, no? Because if he did nothing back in 65 and a lot BC (which he couldn't, as he was born 65 001 000 years later), this ending shows how the game should start (and end). My brain hurts too....
lol, Crono is dino
wait the purple reptites are dudes and reen 1s or girls but 2 purple retites bump into each opther so that means............marle is a dude :O
Unfortunately it's not that simple. ALL time paradox's have to do with Lavos' influence. The Reptites lost without Crono existing yet so.. it has to do with time paradox's and Lavos...Lavos influences all time periods not the Queen of Reptites Azala heh...
Lavos beckoned the beginning of evolution.Since he was killed instantly, humans were left unevolved. And hence, reptites are everywhere.
Lavos was killed in 1999, but reptites win against humans because Chrono and the others didnt care to save ayla's captured mates. Ayla alone couldnt defeat Azala.
Humans already existed when Lavos arrived to the planet.
No, It's a reptile dressed as a human, Like the other costumes in the festival.
So would Tyranno have been a giant ape, rather than a huge reptite? :o
No, you don't seem to undestand it. Humans still existed
Either way it's one hell of a pime taradox.
they have two cats now??? lol
it would be cool to play as reptile chono lol
Chrono Cross be like:
Something.... Lavos will come in 2012...
Melamamoduro prediction was wrong. Too bad!
This is probably one of the wierder endings.
hmmm 3:01 has a human in it....
THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN... even if chrono wasn't there, the humans actually won over the Reptites! If not how did the original timeline have humans as the dominant race? so whether chrono was there to help ayla or not does not matter
That's what happens if you don't take care of business ;)
crono has 5 cats
00:19 seizure
actually people say time travel changes the future but it doesnt because in the future people think its wat was posse to happen..............my brain just got raped because im confuseing myself
to put it basicly
chronos didnt help so reptites won ydda ydda ydda
