I designed a Death of Fox Company scenario for LNLT using the MMP maps as a guide for the map details. Then had some fun special rules and rando events.
8:03 I wonder how they test for this variability in impulse points? Do they play with attacker getting low amounts and defender getting larger than average amounts of points.
I think given the teams deep design experience its a swag. They 'know' . I bet they dont 'test' but say defenders always get 2d6 attack 3. then tweak +/- extra to help 1 side or other. You cannot account for a few turns of 21 activations vs 6 in a 10 turn scenario.
That unique game mechanic you mentioned toward the beginning of the vid, was first used in 1973, not 1974. 😉😄 I'm really sorry, I just could not resist. On a serious note, I went with OST as my go-to squad level tactical game series as well. There's some great art out there in the hobby, but Shayne Logan's artwork remains my favorite.
Hi. I am a big fan of the OST system (I own all the volumes and enjoy playing this solo). I play a lot of other systems (ASL, LnL, LYH, Panzer, CC, etc.), but the simplicity of this system is very compelling. Relative to rules discussions earlier in your list... Even though this is a great and clear rulebook, at version 5.75 I can still point out typos in there. It doesn't bother me, but it does serve to show that there are no perfect games. Just games that we enjoy.
Glad you enjoy it! Yes, Well in all honesty and fairness, Mark has always had some challenges with rulebook 'completeness' but he fixes tings quickly. My prior vids were more about choices made around what went where and verbosity. But for sure as long as Publishers correct and issue PDFS im all good as far as itgoes.
Just a rules overview of a new game. A&A will be played when either I or someone finishes a rules summary. I've removed 10% of teh words. It need another cut on the core rule mechanics then ill find a slot back in the rotation
@@war_gamer No problem, usually you will do a discussion on the rules/components and then a video or two (or more) on play. But given the length of the rules, yea, I can see you'll need a committee to break it down for you...I am still leaning on selling this one but will await your "team's" judgement!
Talk about a gaming room. Beautiful.
Cheers mate
Thanks Kev!
Now I want to pull out my old 1st edition copy!!

I would LOVE to see this set in Korea.

Good stuff. Thanks! I enjoy this as well as BoB about equally. Different vibes
Infantry game in BoB is cool. I do not like tank game however.

Thanks, Kev. Very informative video. You forgot to mention TCS, that's one of your favs too, right?
:) Indeed! Big oversight and another OUTSTANDING example of concise say it once wording.
Good intro. Well done! Thanks.
Thank you too!
How about The Last Hundred Yards?
Great game!! I really like it. Now that the rules have settled down.
