While we've evolved to have some pretty stupid bodily functions, I think that what I've learned today, has animals set on another level

Cheetahs are essentially high performing atheletes, in comparion to a normal individual, who have to work like sh*t to get by the day. They have a miserable life because the same ability that keeps them alive, can't be used for longer hours and doesn't guarantee success. Cheetahs have explosive speed but not enduring speeds, as they can't maintain it for too long and can end up losing their prey very easily. Also due to their vulnerable hide, they really can't defend themselves once the speed is out.

Nini got the best evolution stats in nature without needing opposable thumbs.

Praying mantis aren't that often cannibals. There was a documentary where a female hunted while mating with an male. The myth comes from praying mantis in captisery

Watching that Casual Geographic video was the first time I realized that Peacocks aren't flightless birds like Emus and its cousins. I'm 37 and had never before seen a Peacock take flight 😆

sloths could have been great if their engines were better but they decided to keep running on leaves which burn poorly

Lions actually do hunt, and very often. But they mostly do so at night when no one is looking. During the day the lion watches the kids and protects the home while the lionesses hunt. That big mane of theirs makes it more obvious when the sun is up that something is hunting you, so they trade off day shift and night shift.

I absolutely adore any and all commentary on kiwi, they’re so stupid and they’re my country’s National animal. We have that ridiculous bird as part of the logo for our Air Force.
