  • A last minute trip turns pretty scary when sharks predominate the first few hours. Launching before sunrise we mange to catch some small goggle eyes and then go off in search of opleu (mackerel scad). With plenty of bait we are mainly targeting yellowfin tuna that are feeding aggressively. Stay tuned for part two.

    Aloha! Love the videos. Just starting to go out further in my kayak and get it set up. Is there a technique you use to catch bait with your dashimi rig? Also how do you find the bait balls. I've ran across them on the surface before but it seems random. Do you just troll til you see bait on your depth finder? Thanks!

    • @FlyingFish_TV
      @FlyingFish_TV  5 лет назад

      Go around until you mark a school and immediately drop to the right depth. After marking a school you can troll over the area until you find the school again.

    Good fishing Dan, personally I would like a little more hull between me and a shark. You mentioned about how fast the shark was. I watched a You tube vid of a Great white pursuing, catching and ultimately eating a seal in front of a tour boat......unreal how fast and agile a really large fish can be when hungry.......play safe.

      @@FlyingFish_TV I agree. Sharks just confused they don't eat people by choice. Seen a vid couple months ago where big blue was there feeding on a whale carcass. Maybe you seen it..............famous, huge shark.

    A little divice to clip on to the line & travel down to the hook, that cuts right by the hook & locks on to the line. Also a hook that degrades in 1-2 weeks. For the sharks. To keep your fingers & hands.

    • @FlyingFish_TV
      @FlyingFish_TV  5 лет назад

      What is the product called? About 90% of the time the sharks break off from line abrasion.

      @@FlyingFish_TV their are generic hook removing tools on eBay, but I was thinking of something you could do at arms length. a pole made of aluminium, apple/fruit tree pruning arm, it's like a pair of Nail clippers on a stick with a lever pull handle. Something simple could be designed that slides down the line & grips the line as it clips off the end near the jaws.

      @Bryceeeeeeeez 5 лет назад

      Den Mun yea, over here in Florida depth matters too but being on a kayak you can only go out so far. Just curious how far from land he usually has to go to get on the yellowfin.

      @denmun9722 5 лет назад

      @@Bryceeeeeeeez im on the east coast too, jersey... i guess what i was trying to say over in hawaii, they don't have a continental shelf so you can find depths and ledges that can place you in several thousand feet of water... within a "yak-able' distance" - which is impossible and nonexistent where we live.

    • @FlyingFish_TV
      @FlyingFish_TV  5 лет назад

      I have caught them as shallow as 110ft and as deep as 3000ft. Generally I target them on the 150-200 ledge. That depends on the spot but around 1-2 miles offshore.
