  • I sure you, your humidity percentage on Boveda pack will not change and will be remaining exactly what it says on it. Every single pack have a different mixture of chemicals in them, so for that reason it will remains same so you will not be able to overcharge your packs too!!! I been asked that many times... My method will not ruin paper on the pack !! Unless you not using distilled water. It's very important to use distilled water, wash your hands in prior to that and wipe your surface where you placing your wet paper towel. You want to make sure you keep it clean as possible, because you will have a chance to ruin everything and possible grow mold. I did this many many times and mine still looks the same and work great! You can also use different method by simply filling your tupperware with a distilled water and placing your packs above water, on supports so it will not touch water. Container have to be sealed, it will work but going to take much longer..

So 3-6 days, depending on how dry. I will use distilled water. FYI, a small water distiller for around $100 is well worth it for growers. I make a lot of distilled water, use it for germinating, mixing sprays, humidifiers and foggers for terrariums, and to clean the calcium and lime buildup from hard water out of my coffee maker with descaler. Now I have another use for it. Thanks!

This works and is how I recharge my packs.
Another good tip is to run the pack under a tap quickly (the pack should go a darker brown) so its damp before you wrap it in the paper towel.
Note: I have tried the "place Boveda over water in a container" method too with little success.

@@IvanRossS Nothing wrong with re-hydrating them this way, although I prefer to fold the paper towel and place it at 1 side of the bag, and the boveda pack on the other side, not touching each other. You'll get a lot more uses this way. Also it is possible to over hydrate them. Only way to know when you're at the proper % is to use a digital scale to weigh the packs.

How about smarter not harder. He went off track right after filling the Tupperware with distilled water. Ditch the paper towels and Ziploc bags. 1) Put something in the Tupperware to create a 'moat'. I use one of those cheesy humidification blocks that always come with medium or large size humidors. 2) Fill moat with distilled water.3) Set your Bovedas on top of that standoff. I use one of those cheesy humidification blocks that always come with medium or large size humidors. 4) Snap the lid on top and set it under the bathroom sink for a week (so you'll forget about it).5) Retrieve from under the sink a week later and your Bovedas will be topped off to the max.For those chucklenuts who don't know how Bovedas work - the solution used in the packs is different for each rated % humidity. The % of humidity the pack will try to achieve isn't affected by how full they are (unless they're dry). The puffier the Boveda, the longer it will work to hold humidity at whatever % it was designed for.

Glad to hear you're still with the living. My 'chucklenuts' comment was geared toward the skeptic who made the negative comment about recharging the packs.I had one of my packs touch the water during recharging and it came out looking damaged. It's possible the paper towel method doesn't damage the packs, but I think you can avoid having to repeat the method if the pack doesn't charge adequately with a paper towel on the first try.Mine are used in conjunction with Hydra electronic humidifiers. That lets them serve as virtual accumulators - they basically act like reserve humidity waiting to be unleashed if the power goes out while I'm out of town. I have a UPS for short power outages.

No, the paper towel (I use a micro fiber cloth) is easier and faster than the 2 plastic container method. I've tried several methods and the damp cloth way is much easier and faster, I only need 48 hours with the microfiber cloth. Some people completely submerge them in water and that's definitely not the way to do it because then you have to let them dry out. Trust me it's way easier to just dampen a microfiber cloth then it is to find and use two containers and wait a week.
