Iceland is a 1942 musical film released by 20th Century-Fox, directed by H. Bruce Humberstone and stars skater Sonja Henie and John Payne as a U.S. Marine posted in Iceland during World War II. The film was titled Katina in Great Britain and Marriage on Ice in Australia. Some Icelanders protested against the film for its depiction of Marines winning away the local women.
When Capt. James Murfin flirts with Katina, her Icelandic family take his actions as a proposal of marriage to her. Desperately wanting out, he gets his buddy to help him. (Wikipedia/Imdb) - Кино
There will be many other nights like this and I'll be standing here with somebody new, there will be other songs to sing, another fall, another spring but there will never be another you. Pure gold
I am a singer and sing that song often.
My mothers cousin was Sonja Henie, my sister looked quite a bit like her. Love watching her movies on winter days. I only have a few of her things but treasure them.⛸️⛸️
Thanks for watching and sharing your memories ❤ blessings
That's lovely!
Great stars, wonderful music, and Sonja's magnificent skating... What's not to like?!😊
Excellent movie, I never new it but the Marines actually did serve in Iceland during WWII, the movie even got their shoulder patches right.
I adore John Paune THANK YOU very much.
I did not know that John Payne wos a writer and a singer.I would love to her him sing in some film. Its rare that actores have meno talents❤.
Payne. Me too.
Lovely, thank you for uploading this :-) PS/ I can confirm that the portrayal of the Icelandic people was spot on.
Absolutely delightful!❤😊
The Justice of the peace is the same actor who played Mr. Zumdish in Lost In Space, don't recall his name. Sterling Holloway the unlucky suitor also was the voice of Winnie the Pooh, can't blame Katina for not wanting to live the rest of her life with him.
Singer, Joan Merrill, at the beginning has a similar sound to Judy Garland.
Sweet and romantic.
A great song
Well done Harry Warren and Mack Gordon
❤😇🌹🐴🍀❤😇🌹🐴🍀❤😇🌹🐴🍀
At 1:13:46 was the beginning of the song by Elton John - Pinball wizard. Think about it !

SONJA IS THE GREAT WOMEN SKATER EVER
We were stationed in Iceland on Keflavik NAS from Dec 80 to Dec 82 and never heard of this movie so I doubt it fairs well with the Icelanders.
I don’t like watching this woman skate or dance. Her form, and grace is nonexistent. However, her smile gets me every time.
She is tainted.
Don’t like the singing.
