- wanted to try a little something different with this one by doing an ASMR style type video. by all means this is not a tutorial video but more of a example of the detail i go into when doing typical restorations on my cars. there's still a lot of good how-to in this video so if you're looking to do your own lights, the process is mostly the same. i didn't get to film me replacing the halo adjusters on the inside of the light but while they were apart i also replaced those. you can see them working at the end of the video when i turn on the lights you can see them auto adjust which means the repair worked. :)
below are all the links to all the parts i used/replaced

one big thing to note if you're specifically rebuilding your late model e39 headlights: production dates 8/02 (august 2002) and onward have inseparable seals and require MUCH more work. you can find the production date on the back of the housing in a tiny clock looking stamp. the year will be in the center with an arrow pointing to the month of production.

Great video...! Thank you for the tutorial. Your work was meticulous and thorough. Much appreciated and thank you for inspiring me to do the headlights on my m5.
You should put warning at the beginning of the video.
"Not recommended for people with weak heart and nervous system"
i like this, thumbs up from me. good work
The link in the description doesn't work for me, can you please change, I need those lenses
Très belle vidéo très bon travail. Merci beaucoup
Hello. Good job! What is the working temperature of the blower?
where did you get the new lenses with clear indicators??
aliexpress
I saw what you did there at the 2:05 mark. You obviously felt shame for your deception, causing you to only show it for 1 second. Well I paused it, I seen the truth. You must of forgotten to take a photo prior to cleaning the housing causing you to have to take a photo of a random dirty headlight, because they isn't the same. You replaced the entire headlight housing, lens and inner components. So why did you clean the old parts and pretend the new parts were the old parts cleaned? I actually think you went as far as to just bought a new pair of Hellas, took them apart and rebuilt them on camera whilst making it appear you were restoring the old pair...
Mistakes You made
Didnt see installing new reflectors.
That glue should be butyl, so next time you can again reheat and open the lenses.
nice work) result is amazing)
Good job and well done!
what did you use to clean the headlights in the blue bin? just wondering, thanks
probably dawn dish detergent.
Nice
What did you do to get those wheels to fit I want those on my 540i but 74.1 hub doesn't work.
Hub adapters maybe? Let me know.
If u wanr any wheels on the e39, spacers or hub conversion 😅
No, not the permatex!!!! Use the correct materials. What will you do in 15 years when you need to redo?
What about the adjusters? They are always broken! Do them when the headlights are apart.
In 15 years it won’t be an issue lol I did replace the adjusters just not in the video and I replaced them with aftermarket billet ones so they will never break. Thanks for your input though
is there a link where i get the new lenses with clear indicators ?
In my opinion, best way to restore them is just buy a new set of Hella
Exactly!
Hid xenon lights Hella is 1400.00 yall sound stupid it takes 1hr to do an the lens cost 65 dollars so go ahead an spend 1400 an he spent about 100 bucks for everything an a few hours of his time can tell yall broke because you don't know how to save money an you keeping the car original
are those 7 series wheels plug and play?
Very atmospheric video, I want to ask what camera did you use to shoot the video?
canon r5

why didn’t you use a clear or chrome bulb for the turn signal?
because it’s a turn signal, i’d lather keep it amber
I like it.
Where did you get the new front plastic for headlights?
Or did you polish the old one?

We love you

Any idea what the rotating/cap thingy on the top of the lenses are? They almost look like adjusters for something but they aren't. On mine, the driver's side headlights gets a bit condensated after a wash, and that cap thingy there rotates. On the other headlight it doesn't, and it doesn't get moisture in it. Any info on what these are, and if I should be able to rotate them at all?
i’m pretty sure they’re vents? i count be wrong. they’re only on euro lights/lenses. they have seals on those caps so you might need to replace those seals. they turn tight so it also might need to be tightened and the other might be seized on.
@@tangtyler I see, that does make sense! And yes, I've only ever spotted them Euro lenses/headlights. Thanks, will check!
As far as I know they are caps for changing right hand drive to left hand drive. There is this lever under the cap that you need to move if you use headlights from car imported from UK
tell me please, where are you doing the yellow reflectors?
only reason I watched the video and he doesn't even show it
🔥🔥🔥
I saw in the thumbnail the e39 had style 95 wheels. What size tires did you use??
The links dont work bro
