By episode 6 I was getting SOOO bored with all the endless fighting. People were trying to kill her everyday all day but she kept leaving bad guys injured but alive. She spent 5 episodes beating the sh!t out of practically everyone but gets bested by a woman who's been in prison 10 years. A man who murders EVERYBODY convinces her not to kill him because it might affect how his son will be affected in life. Really? Who the fvck wrote this? This was another missed opportunity for a truly great series. It was just so-so.
I agree 100%. When she took a bullet to the stomach, I already knew she was going to walk away like she has nothing worse than a blister on her heel. They should have invested more in the plot development and less in the fight scenes. So many questions unanswered in the end but bodies everywhere.
I agree with your judgement. Erin, her husband and neighbor/detective were characters that could have been written tighter. The convenience of what happens situationally again and again made a lot of it overblown. Evin Ahmad was a great leading lady, I just wish the writing had been more cohesive.
Great review Chris! Spares me the watch at your expense haha. I just finished binging The Rookie on ABC, have to say it's a great show, good characters and humor. Some of the plots are crazy unrealistic, but the characters are compelling, so it all works out. Would recommend to you if you haven't seen it already!
Your friend Ruby had a rather more positive take...Will check it out later to see where I stand. It does boast a rather impressive cast, that's for sure!
Just finished watching this. Really enjoyed it. The things you mention that wrapped up the end are very true 😂. But honestly it didn't take me out of the story too bad. I enjoyed it.
its had a great premise but poor execution, as the title said "who is erin carter?" i think this would be answered great like any spionage mystery movie, but no. Till end i feel like what? just like that?
I also enjoyed the mystery angle of the show. I wish episode 4 had revealed a little less so more information could have been strewn into the later episodes. spoilers ahead Towards the end I started skipping the fight scenes because there was just one after the other and it was getting boring. And you kind of already know the main character isn't going to die but get badly wounded once again, only to be back at her day job the next day like nothing happened (spontaneous cartoon healing). I would have liked to find out more about how Erin managed to build her new life in Barcelona and how they got there. Also, how she and her husband manage to rent that house on a nurse's and substitute teacher's salary, plus the daughter's private school. I found it a bit hard to believe the police didn't look into that (if they even went to the trouble of calling her references in Strasbourg) and saw it as a given she used some of the gold from the heist but then she says she didn't? Another thing, why does Lena go to the grandparents' house in Canyelles and then all of a sudden they are back in Barcelona? And why does Jordi leave Erin in the house when he takes Harper to a safe place? Can anyone explain?
Having grown up in the 70's and 80's, i can appreciate shows that don't have a Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad level of quality to them. Harmless entertainment that requires you to suspend disbelief and just enjoy the show in the way it's intended. I only wish they would have carried out the mystery of her backstory a little longer - once we find out who she is and what she was all about, the story loses a bit of its punch, i thought.
Chris for me you summed up this somewhat faux thriller perfectly. The lead actress who for the most part is excellent especially during the action scenes. However, the series itself holds your attention mostly in the early episodes but less so in the latter ones. Although the plot and premise for the main character is less than believable you still wish they would have given it greater gravitas. Or am I in the never never land of prim school teachers living double lives as assassins. Oh! yes by the way the daughter plays quirkiness superbly.
I haven't yet finished the first episode, but thanks to your not-so-good review I'll go through to the end to see for myself. The two female leads are wonderful and the scenery shots are beautiful. The F-word gets stale quickly and I'd like the action to be more believable, but perhaps I'm missing the point.
They send a fire team to go get her, and the 2nd breach man is in the living room still playing candy crush on his phone after a dozen gunshots are fired in the kitchen 😂
You should consider reviewing these two movies: 1. _Christmas is Cancelled_ (2021) 2. _Max Winslow and the House of Secrets_ (2020) Both these films were shot to be a much bigger deal but because of the pandemic the first one was quietly thrown onto streamer Lionsgate Play in late-2021 which hardly anyone uses and a very limited theatrical run in select countries, while the second one despite being on the festival circuit between late-2019 and early-2020 only got a very limited theatrical run in the US and UK that unfortunate year. Summary: 1. Girl returns home for Christmas to find out her dad has a new GF and it's her highschool nemesis, so she does everything she can to try to break them up. Starring Dermot Mulroney, Janel Parrish (To All The Boys), Hayley Orrantia (The Goldbergs). 2. Willy-Wonka-meets-Elon-Musk when a tech billionaire launches a competition to win an AI-powered mansion before it goes rogue. Starring Chad Michael Murray, Sydne Mikelle, Tanner Buchanan (Cobra Kai).
For me it was too late, I had watched the series already and was looking for an honest review and to find out if others would rate the series as I do because the IMDb rating is misleading
This genre is very popular. The audience must suspend their concept of reality. Fight scenes are choreographed to mimic dance. My first recollection of this was in West Side Story
I fell over. She uses that excuse a lot. Believeability is very low, and plot holes, and dialogue, but at least you get to watch Evin Ahmad, and car chases, and fights etc. Imdb rates it at 6.4 and thats about it. She disappears, comes back bruised up and husband never asks who shot out the back window. I guess you can shoot up with adrenaline and then run like an athlete and dispatch an army of armed gangsters. Its so over the top I wondered almost if it was satire. One minute arch enemy Lena punches her in the stomach (that she had shot her in the same a few hours earlier) and then they are hugging while Lena sacrifices herself. It was mildly entertaining if you turn off your brain.
The series is actually quite good for the first 3 episodes, the 4. is great, the 5. is good, the 6. is ok and the last episode is just so stupid, it ruined the whole series
Like women can't be good agents. Going on 65 saw all James Bond movies and this was pure fun. Lol all thee unbelievable things 007 has done and critics like you quibble about a limited series. Baah humbug 😅😂😂
This show was OK till just about 2last episodes, but later I had to stop watching as it went complete nonsense and predictable. I can survive bad acting or low budget production but I need good quality plot and this movie can't deliver instead become annoying towards the end
Loved this show. Just finished watching it! I'm going to tell my friends and family about this one! 😊

Erin had serious anger management issues, a very short fuse. It got exhausting later , her throwing punches at the drop of a hat! 🤕🤕
I can forgive all of that given she loves her daughter especially under the circumstances. She is one of the best mother's

She was a legit special agent who was trained and then went under cover not just a teacher 🤦♂️
This reminds me in a way of the superior series, In From the Cold, but with more humor and slightly less angst.
Suspend disbelief. Enjoy the adventure. Excellent casting team. Great musical score.
I felt the ending seemed rushed, how did the woman die from shooting the oil barrel? She had cover 🤔

I don't understand people who are okay with violence but not the f word. No judgement but I honestly do not understand this.
It gets much better, I'm probably one of those people too the cursing feels forced and jarring particular in school and domestic scenes.
The action was way too smoothly violent to be believable.@@Britt-r3r
Don't let reviews guide what you watch, don't be a sheep, I watched it, absolutely loved it.

@@MoviesAndMunchies No problem. Can't wait to see 'em.
Per usual, an awesome time saving review. ❤❤

He was a Singer / Disney Star.
Yeah haha
I gave up after 2 episodes

I actually liked it
Jailer review?

Yeah why did she punch her at first I thought she was giving her a weapon
@deneengrant2086 she took a sticker off of the rare window when she got home showing she got it replaced 🤦♂️
Good call. I was expecting something like body guard but even the first episode was boring......
It gets much better
Oh listen at all the critics. It was a great series limited. Thats my point of view. She is CIA yeah !!!!
Hmm.. looking forward to the weekend as you and Ruben seem to disagree :)
Hahaha, yeah, it should be a fun discussion with Ruben!!
I couldn't get through the first episode....bad acting and bad dialog
thank you again!
The series is actually quite good for the first 3 episodes, the 4. is great, the 5. is good, the 6. is ok and the last episode is just so stupid, it ruined the whole series
The only problem is the walking and running wounded part it's ridiculous.
Thanjs!
Don't watch
Waste of time
Completely lacking in writing, plot, acting and the fight scenes are so CARTOONISH they should be animated!
No one sits at a table loading a gun like that, just saying 😅
What?!
LOL! We'll have a good talk about this, I think!!
It is great show !
More girl boss BS. A 7 stone woman beating up all in her path. Just Hilarious
Tbh most fight scenes in movies and tv are unrealistic regardless of gender
She used martial arts kind of like Black widow she doesn't over power as much but the finale was ridiculous even though it was entertaining.
Like women can't be good agents. Going on 65 saw all James Bond movies and this was pure fun. Lol all thee unbelievable things 007 has done and critics like you quibble about a limited series. Baah humbug 😅😂😂
Netflix shows aren’t what they used to be. They even ruined ragnarok for me.
This show was OK till just about 2last episodes, but later I had to stop watching as it went complete nonsense and predictable. I can survive bad acting or low budget production but I need good quality plot and this movie can't deliver instead become annoying towards the end
Gala-thrrrr-iel, with brown hair?
Excellent
It doesn’t VORK like dat , it used
Knives and stabbing Veapons

The stupidest last episode of any television show in recent history.. Bruh.... I should've stopped watching at episode 6..
This show was awful!! I was so pissed with myself for having wasted so much time,
Spoiler: it’s nick carters brother
Some terrible acting from the main woman and cast. Dialogue is pretty bad too. And I'm only on one episode.
