- Suresh Mathew had a brief chat with actor Christian Bale who was in Mumbai to promote his new film Mowgli and attend its world premiere on Sunday. The Netflix film directed by Andy Serkis has Bale playing the role of Bagheera, the black panther, via performance capture technology, a first for the star from Christopher Nolan’s Batman series.
Bale talks about the toll that physical transformations to play various roles have taken on him and how he’s slowly adapting to prosthetics. The actor also talks about his journey of self-discovery as a child and learning to be a survivor coming from a family that was often in dire straits because they needed money. Here’s Bale, straight from the heart.
In case you didn't get it, Christian Bale transformed into a panther for Mowgli.
😂😂 love it
That's nothing he transformed into a cartoon man who transformed into a bird for howl's moving castle.
almost fell over laughing at this comment
Almost as impressive as becoming Dick Cheney XD
I know it's a joke but it would not surprised me if he went to a local zoo and lived with a panther family and they were relieved when he left because he was freaking them out.
I love how Bale doesn't shy away from saying the reason he became an actor is because his family needed money. He even talks about his family's past difficulties. It truly makes this interview feels like a conversation with a friend and not a celebrity or a movie star.
Astri Anna Yeah, there’s nothing wrong with saying I’m broke. Very common thing
He's a man. Man provides his family.
He was a child when he started acting
No bollywood star ever says that, in fact if you ask fake celebs like srk they’ll say because i am the best fucking actor and who will it be if it wasn’t me?
He is an actor, not a celebrity
This interviewer is fantastic. He’s clearly done his research and is actually coming up with intelligent questions that makes the interviewee think. It’s not all “so who are you dating now?” Good on him
i was amazed by this. even his english is great
Thanks Kissteria
It seems Indian interviewers are following this trend that coming up with proper questions, I first saw one like this with BTS interviewed by an Indian girl. Very proper and thoughtful questions, questions only that particular people(or type of people ex: artists or musicians) can answer unlike continuous bombardment of stupid questions like do you hook up? when it is very known that the idols are not allowed to. And then I saw another interview of that interviewer, that was good too. General questions are fine but when you get celebrities who are not much available, you better try to get something new , right?
Never ever seen Christian Bale so much animated and involved in an interview. Awesome work by the interviewer. You cracked a tough nut there...!!!
Thanks Arham
@@sureshmathew8974 Hey,you lucky fucking guy
You talked to BALE,my all time favourite actor.
Bale is looking at his happiest compared to his older interviews. He will always be The batman
Christian Bale take a bow, man u r a gem, how blessed is England and hollywood. Respect and love
He's Welsh...
Xam271 he’s not Welsh he was born in Wales to an English family while they were living there temporarily. Taffs love to claim everything as their own, because they don’t have much
@@Forestgravy90 he's Welsh
We got Anthony Hopkins, Joe Calzaghe. Gareth Bale i can name atleast another 2
What a fantastic interview. Bale really opened up. Great job....
Thanks Kusuma
Who will agree with me that"Christian bale is the best Batman ever"?
Me
He is best Bruce wayne not Batman
@@MoHammad-ng3iw thanks for the info .. I thought Peter Parker is batman..dude Bruce and batman are same person
A very old debate. Him as the batman is an emotion
@@thankyou230 you didn't get what he said
Props to the interviewer. I felt like Christian was genuinely interested in sharing his thoughts, which I don't usually perceive when he's doing press junkets.
Thanks Vijai
That's what I love about Hollywood actors...giving interview with a simple shirts and cool attitude... hamare yaha actor ghatiya se ghatiya films k liye b celebrity ban k aate hai...and look at this man...it is always a pleasure hear from him...
so true, u correctly catched
thats why he's legend
Christain bale😎🔥
In India our actors are mostly politicians too
They carry that weight with them
Not all hollywood actors are like him. Christian Bale is just really down-to-earth.
Real stars don't care !!
1. Daniel Day Lewis
2. Gary Oldman
3. Christian Bale
Trinity of method acting.
Well there's Matthew McConaughey, Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert de Niro.
@@haronmenezes4562 Jared Leto too
Tom Hardy too...
Ever heard of Joaquin Phoenix
@@ankitsoni7927 Ever heard of Cilian Murphy, Tom Hanks, Nicolas Cage, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Jake Gyllenhall, Sean Penn, Benicio Del Toro, Ed Norton??
Fact, there is a plethora of amazing amazing talent in Hollywood. Joaquin is amazing, his acting in Master, Her, Gladiator is just phenomenal. Can't wait for his Joker.
But Top 3 is always DDL, Gary Oldman, and Bale. You should watch more movies to know why.
Raise your hand if you want him back as batman..
Only if Nolan returns to direct. The Dark Knight Rises was the perfect conclusion of an epic trilogy.
No. I think the dark knight trilogy was the perfect ending for him and the viewers. If there would be a fourth one it would be wrong for some reason in my opinion. But then again, with Nolan you never know.
Lubbert van Urk I think it could be done.
He's the actor we need, but not the one we deserve.
Bring him back for a multiverse adventure from the Arrowverse or a Spider-Verse type cartoon
This has to be the most relaxed, well articulate and just plain nice interview that i've seen of Christian Bale.
One of the best interviews with Christian Bale in my opinion.
Thank you
Gary inspired Christian like Gordon inspired Bruce.
That's deep
And Batman inspired Gordon
King-Professor-Kunta X except for Tom Hardy as Bane.

This is a perfect example of how an interviewer should be. Respectful, professional, and asking interesting questions related to the topic of discussion. Great job!
I really like this interviewer. He actually asks good and interesting questions and is very respectful
I want to write an appreciation comment for Mr. Bale and his role in The Dark Knight trilogy, as I think he doesn't get the praise he deserves. I started reading comics in 2003, and my first comic was Legends of the Dark Knight #123. I was only starting to understand the character. Two years later, I saw Batman Begins. And that movie helped to cement my appreciation for the character in large part to Bale's superb empathetic portrayal of the character that showed a great level of nuance and character building that, I don't think, I saw in other live-action portrayals, or even some animated versions. Bale's Batman exemplifies the best qualities of Batman. He's not one-sided. To every strength he has, there's a weakness. He wants to do the right thing (he wants justice for his parents), but forgets about the consequences (wants to kill Joe Chill in the court room before everyone). He can be the smartest guy in the room (outsmarts the entire police unit during the chase), but he sometimes allows his emotions to mess with his head ("I don't care about my name!"). It's something that was pivotal to the character's reintroduction during the 70s Batman, when the legendary comic book writer Denny O'Neil, who also loves Bale's portrayal, made Batman into a cultural icon he is known as today by emphasizing his human qualities. I really want to see that depiction of the character in future live-action incarnations of him. I hate it when Batman is depicted as the walking paragon that can't fail. That's what makes some people hate him as a character. That's why I enjoyed the Legends of the Dark Knight series the most of all the Batman runs there were, because it actually put an emphasis on him being imperfect and insecure. The moment that really connects that comic book series with Nolan's Batman is when Batman tries to save a drowning girl in the sewers, but fails. It's pretty much what happens to Batman in The Dark Knight. He was sure he will save Rachel because he already saved her a couple of times, but he didn't. Just like Batman saved many people in the comics, but not all of them. Batman can't save everyone, but he'll do everything he can to do so. That's why I love The Dark Knight trilogy so much. It put more emphasis on the MAN in the Batman.
"Why do we fall, Bruce? So we can learn to pick ourselves back up" - This sentence basically sums up Bale's iteration of Batman. I really liked the more humane portrayal of Batman.
Wow, much appreciated. Your love of not only the character, but of Nolan's vision of Batman and indeed Bale's portrayal (and as You said nuanced understanding of him), shows. And I love how much You love this character whom I've come to love even more by reading Your testimony. Well-written. Bravo!
U nailed in with that last line... Well written
more of a nolan appreciation post
What a pleasant interview and what a nice inteviewer.
This was hands down one of my favorite Christian Bale interviews ever, and I've been following his work since he made "Empire of the Sun" - he seemed as genuine as always, but both relaxed, and very willing to share and open up a bit - was incredibly satisfying to watch. He's always been my favorite #1 actor and it's very interesting that he mentions that he looked up to Gary Oldman as an actor, because Gary is in my top favorites too. Both fabulously passionate, serious actors who really put everything they have into their roles. Thank you for sharing.
The most versatile actor of the world, love to see him in India, keep doing good work.
Why do you love to see him in Ind....ohhhh you're Indian! Now I get it.

2:54 to 3:21 very helpful and inspiring. Can be applied by people from different walks of life
Probably one of the best Bale interviews I've seen. Great job.
Thank you
no matter what the movie is about if bale's in it i m gonna watch it

What if it's a gay porn movie starring Christian Bale?
@@SanjuSingh I would watch that, He would probably make porn realistic.
@@somilsharma9130 So that means either u r a closet homosexual or a bisexual.
@@SanjuSingh umm, I am not, and even if I am so what's the issue
Such a fantastic interview! I love how it's so relaxed and how much Bale is open to talk, rather than get cut off and bombarded by questions constantly. And the focus on films themselves and the craft and skills of an actor was also so unique. I feel like we just don't have much of this anymore when actors go to promote a film. Excellent video.
I've always noticed, he never misses calling out the director, make up artists, cinematographers, editors and others behind the camera. this is pure class.
it's a good thing he's starting to realize that extreme body transformation can take a tool on him.
Respect for Bale as always.
Easily the most mutually respectful and informative interview I’ve ever watched. Hollywood interviewers, please observe this man’s technique and subtle calmness that practically infected Bale, who is by nature a fiery individual. Bale is also the GOAT Batman.
Apart from him being one of my favorite actors, I have such a huge respect for Christian Bale for the amount of effort he always puts in when preparing for his roles, maximum professionalism all the time. You can't get better motivational material than him doing his job.
Kudos to the interviewer. But this last couple of years Bale has totally changed his ways in interviews. A lot more joyful, sharing and open.
This is a really great interview. Great questions from the interviewer!
A proper interviewer, being professional and ultimately giving fans an incredible insight in to Christian Bale.
Thanks Marjan
I remember being in love with this man from 13-18 years old, and finding out he was actually married. I was so heartbroken!! 🤣🤣🤣🤷🏾♀️
I just love watching this guy's interviews. He's always very articulate and engaging.
It's truly amazing how he always has something interesting to say (or to add when he is with somebody else).
I guess it must be a reflection of a very active and brilliant mind.
I really would like to meet him and have a chat over a beer!
That was some damn good interview. The interviewer asked crisp, relevant, and thought provoking questions for the interviewee, and Bales answered it very well. May have enjoyed those questions
Thanks Jimmy
Sureth, this is a great interview you. Keep it going, you don't ask the questions that are fat, you ask the meat of the questions that matter. Love to see a smile on your face.
Thanks Max for your words of appreciation
Christian bale is amazing with transforming his body.
After this video, I had to go to American Psycho video and see him when he still young and hot as hell lmao 😂
What a lovely interview! So nice to see Bale just chilled and chatting about stuff.
Thanks Aaron
I just a fan of how he played Bruce Wayne in the Batman trilogy. I was so mesmerized by the was he adopted the character. Love you Christian bale
This man is my hero! He is THE Batman, THE DARK KNIGHT for me! Such humbleness, such friendly aura! Christian Bale, u r my hero!
Christian Bale was in high spirits. Great actor, loved him in Batman
My most favorite Actor in Hollywood. Salute to this great Actor
Instead of some crap like showing memes and whatever, like they do with celebs nowadays, this guy asked great questions and it was a pleasure to watch. Thank you.
Thanks :)
This is hands down one of the most wholesome interviews of Christian Bale, it's visible that he was comfortable and enjoying himself in this conversation!! Loved every second of it, thank you Quint, for making the ever green master of the craft open up❤️
Stop with that annoying music The Quint. You are talking to the institution of acting itself. Always been a fan of this great, humble and inspiring actor. So looking forward to this and especially Vice. More power to you Christian Bale !!
surbhi chauhan
Shut up
How the hell did you guys pull this off ? I'm super happy Quint can get a A-Class hollywood actor such as Christian Bale.
I like an interviewer who let's their subject answer their question before asking 12 more. Thanks :)
Thanks Jickie
This interviewer was amazing and very inviting.
Thank you Benjy
In this interview, I see a humble aura from Christian. I now what it is like to be in a financial problem, and I know how hard he works as an actor.
Bale is so humble and relaxed, also the interviewer doesn't interrupt, good interview
Thanks Stevens
Christian Bale > Leonardo Di Caprio. Period.
Not even a competition, bale is twice the actor Leonardo will ever be.
If it wasn't for chocolate boy looks in titanic no one would have known Leonardo.
Americans like to hype their artists too much, don't get me wrong di caprio is a great actor but not in the same league as christian bale.
Abhinay Malasi Agreed to the full. Bale eats movies like The Wolf of Wall Street for dinner every night . Finally I found a fellow Bale fan on the internet.
@@htotube I'm a huge bale fan,he has a very unique acting style.
Leo's acting style doesn't change, he always goes for intense and then everything, whereas American psycho, machinist, the fighter etc. show Bale's range
Hell no
He seems more comfortable with this indian interviewer than with any western.
What a fantastic interview. A testament to both gentlemen! Suresh Mathew deserves many more high profile interviews.

One of the most talented actors of his generation. Christian Bale never fails to amaze me with his roles.
Damn never knew the original Batman's scene was shot in INDIA.
Aakash Siddhartha it was the prison scene in Jaipur
yes when he climbed up from the pit, that pit scene was in Rajasthan
That scene is just amazing, the struggle of Bruce to stay alive and escape the pit, with Hans Zimmer's music and the chants of "Deshi Bashara" in the background.

It's very good to hear that Bale realized huge physical transformation for his body is definitely good for his health. Bale is a very respective actor with a very admirable attitude for his job, but it's not worthy to reduce your life time for your work. After all, people work for a better life.

You had Christian Bale to interview. And you blew it.
Christian Bale is always fascinating. Articulate and "deep" with his answers. As deep as the question will allow. Can't help but appreciate his passion for the craft.
Christian Bale is sheer force of will. Thousands of youtubers out there making videos about how to get ripped. But I guarantee you not one of them would be willing to give up their fitness to get fat, only to start the workout process all over again.
I honestly don’t know how he does it. It took me over a year to get fit. It’s unimaginable for me to put on all that damn weight again
Great interview 👏🏾👏🏾👌🏾
