My ex will argue it, but I was emotionally cheated on. For context, he had feelings for a streaming friend for over a month and told her before telling me. He would finish streaming with his friends and stay on to talk with her even if I was in the house waiting for him to be done. She lives far away so I know they never physically cheated, but the emotional distance was there.

Rainie, to answer your question what's too much time spent together with a romantic partner: that's literally one of the cornerstones of figuring out if you'te compatible socially. Having similar boundaries for joint time vs alone time is a huge part of a successful relationship.
I love that we got a follow up on that friend email! I genuinely believe that so many relationships (family, friends, and lovers) drift apart because feelings get hurt without the other knowing and it festers. Talking things out can be scary but you will ALWAYS get something valuable. The situation might get cleared up and it brings you closer, or you might find out that your intuition was correct. Either way you learn an important truth about them or yourself and can make more informed decisions going forward.
Truly loved this episode- ughhh but it makes me miss Ariel though. She's always been so sex positive. I would have loved to hear her reactions and thoughts. Maybe one day. (I get it and I know, but I still miss her).
Poor ariel. It sorta feels like she’s being punished for what ned did. She’s the one who got cheated on but also cos he got fired, she’s also coping with the consequences of it since it’ll be weird for her to take part in anything related to the try guys.
Ariel always made me smile and laugh bc her personality and thoughts were always a breath of fresh air for me. I hope she is doing well and comes back eventually and sooner than later T__T. Love all the girls though!

Lars and the Real Girl ends with the doll "dying" when he no longer psychologically needs it and is able to have relationships with real people. I really liked that movie. I'm amused by the way Becky made it sound like it's a movie about a guy who wants his sex toy with him at all times, I'd love for anyone to go seek it out and find the movie that's really there.

Sometimes I put on this podcast while I'm working, because I don't have to watch, and this one cracked me up. The sex doll convo and Rachel's snicker, thinking about warming it up in the microwave... gold.
“A little annoying” is the best explanation of every relationship I have had. It’s not bad it’s just because their boys/male and we’re girls/females.
The bit about how much you see each other is fascinating! Granted, I'm 38, and also polyamorous, but I feel like when I first get interested in someone I'm all "ooh I wanna see you allll the time!" but what that means in practice is maybe twice a week? Weekly seeing each other consistently would be a super serious relationship, more casual maybe 1-2 times a month. Even the partners who live in my house (I have a basement apartment I probably see once every 2-3 days. 😂

I met him when we were 17 and I denied my feelings bc i was in a bad spot for a while. I decided to allow myself love when i was 21 and left a failing 3.5 relationship/ engagement. Not necessarily for him, but we did end up together soon after.
We're expecting our first child in January 2023.

I would say him saying a big part of his divorce was not having enough sex is a huge red flag...maybe we're missing some important context. If not, sounds like he was probably with a woman closer to his age and possibly could have been beginning menopause which can cause low sex drive and hurt a womans self esteem which could also lead to less sex. He choice to leave and I believe started dating his current girlfriend when she was 25ish. So what happens if her sex drive lowers? Will he leave and find a younger woman again? This is me assuming we are not missing important context.

I used to really like watching Real Sex on MTV and the sex doll episode sticks out to me a lot for whatever reason 🙃 but they are customizable to look the way you want them to look (red flag if doll looks like her or ex wife) and can be warmed up though I can't remember how they did that. Also just contact 24/7 with a therapist is not exactly healthy or helpful to process what you gain from therapy. It may be the only thing accessible for some people, but it is really just... not great.

I wish there was less reading of questions and more natural discussion. The past few months of podcasts have been a little bit of a letdown. They all seem very repetitive.
They are all healing after what Ned did. It did not only affect his family, but also the people around him. Although it did affect his family the most obviously.

That’s so insensitive to say the guy should throw out his sex doll! They had it for four years in the house without her even knowing it was there, so clearly, it’s not an issue that’s going to be in her face all the time, and sex dolls are super expensive in the multiple hundreds of dollars. You don’t know what these peoples financial situation is, and the guy already went through a divorce. He probably feels unsure whether or not he’s going to stay in a long-term relationship, and if he throws out his sex doll and then they break up in two years, then, what’s he gonna do buy a new sex doll?
