very old vídeo, but in fact, the best kyokushin training that I've ever seen. Simple, objective and a lot of martial view on it. GOJU RYU BLACK BELT HERE. OSU!
R.I.P. Andy Hug He was a MONSTER in K1, his spirit lives in the form of Lyoto Machida, just a different style of Karate. Andy - Kyokushin / Machida - Shotokan
@MbLancer1 : The kicks of kyokushin are closer to those of taekwondo than they are to Muay Thai, I think . Taek and Kyokushin both make use of a "snap" whereas Muay doesn't for the most part. And it may not be so accurate to say that Taek isn't as "hard" as Kyokushin as there are forms of Taek that are much "harder" than the ones you see in most competitions.
Its to increase the perspiration rate / sweating. Similar to a pre-boxing weigh-in, when fighters have to wear polythene suits during training to increase their weight loss. It may be used to loose weight quickly, but of course, it is best done under strict monitoring / instructor guidance.
this is a late response but watever here goes. Kyokushinkai incorporated what muay thai has as its signature kick into their style. While muay thai didnt invent shin kicks, they tweaked it to make it better. like karate and their reverse punch. they didnt make that punch, but they made it better. that "better" kick from muay thai is what kyokushinkai borrowed and put into their style. P.S. yeah ur right, the monks made all these moves
I don't agreee really. I understand and agree that static (traditional) strecthing is "safer" but I believe that dynamic stretching is an important part of flexibilty development and training
Yeah, I'm just not really good at memorizing those katas... i can do all the techniques in katas but i find it a little confusing... but of course in actual fights i know those techniques are supposed to be part of your reflexes right?
actually sorry i commented without watching what they were doing. They're using a plyometric type movement for stretching which is dangerous, so you're right. But yeah correct dynamic stretching is different
Whats wit hthe one guy wearing three layers of clothing beneath his dogi, aswell as half a mile of tape around knuckles that doesnt seem to be hurt at all. It cant be the cold, the others arent in anything else, except maybe a t-shirt beneath. I know, a dojo can be a bit footcold, but you may be a bit excessive here..
I don't know if kyukushin is like shotokan, but kyukushin is a full contact martial art, but when you are hitting the bag, you hit it with bandages no matter what, unless you want to break your arms and I doubt you do...the 1. guy with black belt is kicking very badly, his kicks aren't at full size, not stretched enough not returning the legs...how can a black belt miss that important things in a martial art?
in kyokushin we did not have yellow, only purple, blue, green, brown, black, sensei added yellow later on for the kids he was teaching, as the first colored belt
why should they give up from that "bouncy" (dynamic) stretching, when you warm up properly that way of stretching is not a problem, never heard that someones joints fell apart because he bounced while stretching and his ligaments gave up on him
"It's not the style, but the man" (Hanshi Tino Ceberano's quote) A good TaeKwonDo practitioner will beat a bad karateka, and vice versa. Let's leave egos out of it, shall we?
did i see a yellow belt doing a jump spinning back kick? how the hell did a yellow belt get that good? his other kicks and footwork was really good as well.
It does not suprise me. I learn most of the basic from books, before I started to train. Even though I could not throw a dicent mawashi gery until i was a brown belt.
That yellow belt is a great kicker...walk in the dojo and think your gonna take him out, boy would you get a surprise and your arse kicked (as well as your head) ha ha excellent stuff boys keep it up,
I do practice what I am commenting on. My sensai already tells me when my hands are dropping due to exhaustion which Kyokushin is so famous for in training. I also asked my sempais and kohais to tell me when my hands are dropping. When I am not exhausted, I am very good keeping my hands up and I concentrate heavily on it. I will not comment on anything that I already do not try or you are right, I will insult my sensai's wisdom.
@seekerjet: I pity you if you wash your black belt. And the fact these guys are good is hard to miss. @Anasazi2006: Kyokushin Karate is full contact. If you see the bruises on the torso of a Kyokushin fighter after one training, you´ll understand. The other explaination might be...its cold and the hall is not heated.
One more other thing, I have been practicing Kyokushin off and on since 1991 - so let me see that is 18 years ago and my Sensai said the same exact thing 18 years ago. "Keep your hands up kohai or you will get knocked out!" If this Russian fights any of the top Japanese fighters and lowers his hands like this, he will be knocked out. I have seen it happen many times.
The part that concerns me is the streching . That bouncing is very, very bad. You will feel it in a couple of years, I am feeling it. ( Not from practicing in the Dojo but with friends that were taught that way ) . Your hips ' tendon , ligaments and cartilages will give up. You should do some re-searche about that . Do not be scared to educated youself about how to take care of you body. I got my first Dan in 1990 from USA Oyama.
The sempai (shodan) is quick but I think a faked gedan mawashi geri to jodan mawashi geri would get him. Hands up at all times. Sosai never lowered his guard like these guys. If one practices sloppy, one will be sloppy in kumite. OSU!
if anything its like karate fused wit muay thai to make something new. they shouldnt even call kyokushinkai a karate style anymore. its like sanshou and kung fu. thats like wrestling, kung fu, and muay thai
shirts and jackets LOL, if you wore that in the dojo i train in you would be out the door because its a sign that you are not going to train hard and heat up, watch some of the video's on here ever see mas oyama or any of his students wear a shirt under their gi even when they trained in the snow and under a waterfall i dont think so.
@MbLancer1 False in so many ways. No martial art is HARDER than the other, it depends on the competitor. The effort you put in will effect the outcome of what you learn. Kyokushin practitioners may need a strong torso, powerful punches and kicks, however the spinning and flying kicks in taekwondo require just as much skill. No one martial art is better than the other, they all have their positives and negatives. Yin and yang
Why is that dude wearing 4 shirts under his GI? And wtf is this, that black belt sure needs to go study the art of the flying back kick (The guy to the right who's kicking at 2.15). I mean just look at him from 4.31 to 4.48
lol yeah ok buddy, although i respect your opinion, in a street fight, unless you are going up against someone else that is training, these kicks we finish your random street tough guy. the problem is that now after MMA has become the latest Fashion (thanks to UFC) everyone things that fighting is about the grapple. Trust me a good kick to the side of the hear/neck or even knee at the begingng of the fight would take care of your grapple loving opponant

i love kyokushin ! which country is this ? :)
its russia my comrade
@arjybarjy it is about fighter after it is about trainer and then it is about martial art :)
actually sorry i commented without watching what they were doing. They're using a plyometric type movement for stretching which is dangerous, so you're right. But yeah correct dynamic stretching is different

fantastic fighters no nonsense martial arts but i dont agree with belts myself good to establish ranks but i still dont agree with it
I agreed W U but some Hydrogen peroxide will do the job. Just pour some on the blood stain. It work very good on most of the fabric. Try it
jel ste vi slepci
yo godanp, a yellow belt in kyokushin karate is the 4th belt. Not the seconde like shotokan. So that is why is not so bad
@44excalibur lol i think were arguing about the same thing. everything borrows from everything now a days so it doesnt matter anyways unfortunately
The Best!!!1
I don't think that yellow belt is a yellow belt at all :|
Haha, that was my reaction too xD
maybe he has some taekwondo or kickboxing or other karate styles before kyokushin
Que los cinturones no te engañen, esto es kyokushin el arte marcial donde hasta un cinta blanca te puede partir la madre
oss !
Why so many shirts under the Gi? Sweading THAT much is not healthy in training.
Weight cutting for competition

Yellow belt guy was much better, confident and skilled than the black belt guy with wavy haircut.

To the Karateka who is putting blood - stained bandages on his hand - get some new ones ! They don't cost that much !
Maybe he is trying to loose some weight. I did the same thing when I used to compete in boxing and kickboxing.
