I never forgot about Brendan/May, but I always considered them the secondary rival anyway. Wally was so much more of an interesting character to me, and while I somehow have no recollection of jamming to this music back when I played _Omega Ruby,_ I can sure as hell say now that he deserved his incredible score.
It broke my heart so bad...Omega Ruby was my first ever Pokémon game, and after hours of pouring everything I had into that game I went through Victory road and came to see...Wally. He of course treated me and told me of his dream. I was so happy he made it this far, but it absolutely killed me how I had to beat him to continue on. Gahhhh the feels.

In my opinion wally is your true rival in that region. The professors son/daughter was mainly working on their dads fieldwork.Wally on the other hand collected all the badges and even did it quicker then your character, he earned it and deserves the title rival. Blue,silver,and wally are only 3 rivals that had my respect as trainers.
Wally actually gets the badges after your character. The point of wally was that he was the rival that was always a step behind you unlike the previous rivals who were always a step ahead
I respect Wally, Cheren, Gladion, and Marnie. I haven't met the Gen 1 or 2 rivals before, and I don't hold much respect for the rest. May, Barry, Bianca, and Hau aren't down to earth enough, I don't feel as if Kalos has a true rival, Bede is a jerk, and Hop is not really cut from the same stone as his brother.

IMO, the theme was *far* from perfect. It was just suddenly "WOOOOAH HOLY SHIT HE'S GONNA KILL YOUUUUUUU" Basically, the theme was very much missing buildup, which this remix adds.
If theres one character they made so much better in ORAS, it's god damn WALLY. In RSE, he was barely rememberable and his fight in Victory Road was boring. It was just "oh hey, I'm your rival now." But in ORAS, he feels like an actual rival, at first following in your footsteps like you're a role-model for him, and once you meet him in Victory Road, he still respects you and sees you as a role-model of sorts, but now also sees you as a rival, and treats you as such. When the battle begins, and that theme starts playing, you realize shit has gotten REAL between you two. Simply by the way he throws his Pokéball, you can see he went from meek and timid, to confident and determined. With an actually decent team and Mega Gallade, he goes all out against you, and will do quite a number on you if you're not careful. And when you inevitably defeat him, he accepts that he still has room to improve. That's what makes him a great rival. Hell, he's such a great rival, you even forget Brendan/May is also supposed to be your rival.
I thought Wally was always a bitch, even since I was young and played Ruby for the first time. Imagine my shock and pure joy to see that Wally had manned up and actually had gotten a decent team (with his own anime theme song to boot!) *I was so proud of my boy and still am!*

I used to want to punch this kid at how much of a child he is, but it was nice seeing him man up in the final fight of ORAS. i just wish there were more fights in the game instead of one more in the beginning of the game and one at the end. i wanted him to win, but its like I have plot armor, so my attacks are super effective
