That's a great technique. I recently tried foundation paper piecing and really needed tissue paper. I could see how much easier you were able to tear the paper. And it leaves such a clear pattern for embroidery. Brilliant!

If it works for the foundation pieces you're making, old telephone pages are also nicely thin, for tearing.
