Peter, you sir are a legend and a gentleman. Your straight-forward, simple, sensible video was exactly what this morning required. Spotting your fluffy white work robe helped bring an extra element of calm and a smile. They say these things come in threes, so I am unfortunately waiting to find out what my third thing will be this week, as yesterday my tumble dryer snapped her drive belt...
Thanks Peter! Fixed my Henry, great start to my day. Your calm tone and fluffy white lounge attire gave me reassurance even after I broke a connector and had to improvise a solution. Also if 85% of the 235 comments are from people who have fixed their vacuum cleaners, at an average replacement price of £120 you have saved people nearly £25,000 so far. Well done!
you just got a subscriber! bought a henry off car boot in the uk, for £10. predictably, it did not work. Tried this and YESSSSSSSSSS. Fired up perfectly and im in the middle of cleaning@! thanks so much! best you tube tutorial ever.
Lovely video Peter. The Henry refused to start on Saturday. My wife was equal parts impressed that I could fix it, and disappointed I wasn't going to buy a new one. Well done and thanks. Tip sent.
Absolutely fantastic clip ……henry is now working……took me about an hour because I’m a complete beginner…..but you sir are a genius…..thank you very much
I knocked Henry over and he stopped working. This fix was easy to implement and worked perfectly - I've prevented another piece of premature landfill! - many thanks for nice clear instructions.
Just echoing all the other comments 🎉 thankyou so much. I've had my Henry for 16 years and only today it died. Your video has her running on full chat which saves me the hassle of pushing the button every time. Thanks again, great video 🥳🥳
restores your faith in humanity people like you my missus a underpaid cleaner and we have 3 henrys and had to replace pcb boards and the high and low switches at great expense this works a treat never use the low any way. grateful to you my youtube friend
Well, thank you so much for video. Followed your guidelines and henry powered up, this confirmed p.c.b was faulty. Saved me £20 to replace, thank you again.
I did it and my Henry works, I'm really chuffed - THANK YOU. It took watching the video about a dozen times before acting to get my head around what to do because I have zero electrical knowledge so some basic things I needed guidance on which might be taken for granted by people who are familiar with connecting wires etc. My tips are: (1) to disconnect the wires, don't be scared the metal heads of the wires have a push-in pull-out mechanism, I used a flat-headed screw driver to loosen the grip of the metal heads connecting the wires. (2) the switches have a side panel, so to access the wires connecting the switches again I used a flat-headed screw driver to remove the side panel - push in (the screw driver) from the side and lift; (3) if you have done 'too much' in removing the layers to access the motor just follow video for what the coverings around the motor should look like, for example, that plastic 'frame' with a triangle bit around the motor completely came off so i saw too much motor, in fact lifting it out completely but the motor fits back in like a puzzle, there are three areas that you need to make sure are in place - again like a puzzle look for the bits that fit; (4) in taking out the motor completely I disconnected one of the white wires from the motor I just looked for a head that didn't have a wire and job done.
Maribeja Intel that’s great news. And thanks for notes. Am sure they will be helpful to others. I’m no electrician. I hadn’t done this before. I made the video because all the advice I found online was too technical. So after reading and looking at a circuit diagrams I figured out the solution and wanted to make an easy to follow video. I had no idea how useful it could be but if it saved one other person buying a new hoover, or paying for repairs, it would be worth it.
@@hesbs It was generous of you to share what you learnt, I've always been someone who likes to give it a go but being daunted by the wires showed me how much we (well, me) are estranged from basic DIY and how our solution is to throw away and buy new. I'm convinced if we were all able to do the basics the skills of the professional would be higher. My paper shredder broke a week early than Henry died, can't wait to get stuck in now 😊
Peter many thanks, my Henry is working again, 3 year old video but it's still helping other out perfectly well thanks. Seen some questions asking if the hoover will work on full power only and the answer is yes, FULL POWER ONLY. This will make your Henry hoover work on full power only as you are removing the low power switch wiring... HOPE THAT HELPS CLEAR THINGS UP, If you do this and your hoover works then it's the PCB printed circuit board that's no good, so if you still need your hoover to do low power then you need to replace the PCB printed circuit board
I was apprehensive to fix it, but your video really helped make it look like a simple job... So simple, it's just opening the Henry up, and pulling the wires off the Hi/low switch, removing the "pcb" board, and plugging the 2 white wires where you removed the blue and brown wires into the power switch... watch the video, and it's very clear. Thanks so much! The Henry is Alive ! ALIVE !
I bought my Henry when I was 18, I'm now 33, married, and have 2 kids. I still remember when me and my now wife moved in together and she saw my Henry for the very first time, haha! She loves a good hoover! He's been part of the family for years! Today, I thought I was going to have to say goodbye. It was a sad moment. You just saved his life and saved me over £100! Thank you.
excellent, thank you, my machine suddenly stopped working and i assumed it was a fuse, it wasn't, i opened it up and was surprised to find so many wires and a pcb so gave up. After seeing your fix to an identical machine i just tried it, initially i was concerned that you did not say which of the two white wires should go to which of the two switch posts, since one post is positive and one negative and i wondered if it might make the machine run in reverse and blow instead of suck if i got it the wrong way round, or even burn it out, but i took a chance and either it doesn't matter which white wire goes to which switch post or i got lucky, it sucks great. thanks.
I bet numatic love you!!! They have just missed out on a £130 sale this morning because i chose to followed your expert video. You utter legend, thank you so much!!!
Wish i had seen this before paying out for another Henry. We had the James and worked fine for just over 6 years then i just turned it off on the hoover switch & came back 5 minutes later & it wouldn't start again. I tried all the usual things like fuse took it apart to see if anything had burnt out couldn't see anything. So last night we bought the Henry XL Plus as it's supposed to be more of industrial so might last longer. Just seen your video this morning and by no means am i an electrician but can put a plug on with ease , i went through what you did on here and now we have the James working on Full Power , ah well it will do for any diy , garage and car work we need doing. It's no wonder the world is a throw society as things just ain't made to last long these days , more and more cheap crap parts are made in China for pennies for every single thing we use in our houses now. So glad i seen your video pity i hadn't seen it soon enough not to have paid out for another one though. Can't thank you enough for your easy step by step guide , if i can fix this then anyone can follow and fix as well.. Thank you

Absolutely brilliant, Peter! I was looking online this morning to replace my Henry vac, because it gave up on me last night. Then I came on here looking for a possible solution, and after following your instructions to the letter I managed to get it going again. Thank you so much!
