@@The-Azure-Knight Its diet. I was a bodybuilder for years, natural but even with what I thought was natural cooked food screwed me up. Psoriasis and arthritis, shoulder and back problems. I went on 100% raw fruit 4 years ago. The first year was hell on earth but my body seemed to know, to force me to continue. I am psoriasis, arthritis, pain free and back to body building on fruit. We are frugivores. All other food is survival food because our species migrated north. If interested. Go grapes, watermelon, berries and citrus for the first year. Build with bananas and medjool dates.
Agreed. Don’t know why but I’ve really enjoyed watching these bushcraft channels. Check out Ana Bushcraft and Primate Villa. It’s so amazing the innovation what they can do with just the materials in nature. Truly amazing.
I love the fact that there is no music and no talking Just the sound you create and the sound of nature makes this something very special and relaxing to watch. Also, that dog is living the dream.
It's not the fact that he can build a log cabin from scratch that makes me feel less than; it's the fact he can do all that and film and edit it perfectly as well.
Many of these are professional film crews. But even so, the skills are tremendous. And all credit to the chap. … I’ve learned a lot from watching this type of video
Especially in a world where everyone has the constant need to be seen, heard, and make noise. This guy reminds me that quiet and reserved yet productive people do exist.
I can't imagine the hours of work, the pain, patience, tiredness and efforts you put in that timber house. You must have had so many blisters and dreams of wood
The hours of work pain and patience is what entices me. Sounds amazing. Getting drone footage on an ice lake on the other hand sounds boring as fuck. I hope you value hard work when you get older. I know i didnt when i was 20.
Wow the patience, fortitude, determination and ethics this young man has is astounding!!! And the work of art he created in this HOME, well he should be extremely proud of himself I’m literally amazed. I could not stop watching this amazing beautiful piece of art being built and the filming and photos and quietness of this documentary is purely another piece of art? Thank you! God bless you in all your endeavors.
Watched this together with my 12 year old son and it was more like a movie experience. The amount of interesting things to see is amazing. Not only your brilliant craftsmanship but also the beautiful nature and wildlife. We would like to thank you for taking us on this journey Erik.
wow, thats good parenting, good to see parents showing thr kids informative and what a life really, otherwise most of the kids watch cringe shows and stuffs. cheers.
Even as someone who has no interest in leaving modern society to go live in the wilderness, these videos are so cool to watch. I love seeing people put their heart and soul into building something.
Beautiful video, but sorry to say if loads people decided to build log cabins in the forest,we would have no trees or forests left and would probably have to have electricity to survive,so may not be so environmentally friendly!
I wish I could find work as satisfying as this, just as a job. Seems a lot more fulfilling than coding (or construction in a typical modern context, for that matter)
@@connieh6136 Timber is much more sustainable than the other building materials we use. Most houses in Europe use an average of 22 mature trees anyways (especially as the houses are much bigger). Trees are a renewable resource so actually much better for the environment to use. If replenished (as seen in evan's clips of planting pines) then this process is a good way to remove carbon from the atmosphere (as the carbon from the origional trees is then stored in his home and new trees are planted which suck up more carbon). So this is a misconception that this is less environmentally friendly! But obviously we should use the houses that we already have, rather than everyone ditching their houses to build log cabins... but if you are going to build new this is much more sustainable than modern house building techniques. Best x

I’m only 13 min through the video and so far what blows my mind is not that you’re building this on your own with CRAZY good cinematography, but that you really shower in a cold river after a snow storm 🤯
Idk why RUclips recommended me this video but wow. He did such a good job, I love how he made it look easy peasy going in the water in winter! 🤣 Herregud! Erik är en riktig viking! Bra jobbat och tack så mycket! 🎉 jag hoppas att du är nöjd med resultatet.
This is what a social influencer should look like. Hard work, dedication, self-respect. Crazy honestly to do a build on this level solo. Quarried his own stone block. Probably the most authentic self build iv seen. Ever.
@@LAkadian idk if you’re just being sarcastic (I cant tell) but they mean creators on social media. People that have a platform. They’re called social influencers because obviously they’re influencing the people that watch their content
i'm fascinated thinking about the technicalities. -How often did you need to head back and charge or replace camera batteries or get extra supplies? -how many camera batteries do you have and how picky do you need to be about shots to make them last? -how far are you from a town or electricity/stores, etc? -Do you own the land or did you need permits to build? - It must be a pain going back for the camera after each shot. Either way, Your documentation is hugely entertaining and inspiring. Best of luck on the next one.
@@coryvore ya there's some very basic patterns it can fly once you lock onto a target. It's absolutely valid that he did all this alone, just a lot of crap to lug around lol
It’s incredibly possible that he had a solar charger and powerful enough batteries to last the entirety of another one charging. I know Les Stroud did that when he would do long term filming in the wilderness. He probably got drone shots afterward to showcase where he was
One of my favorite parts about this (apart from how amazing it is and how peaceful and calming the whole environment feels) is how in the portion called “Vorsteh Puppy” he really isn’t getting annoyed by the dog messing around and stuff, he’s just letting the dog do it’s own thing, whether that’s playing with the dog toy or digging in the fire pit, it was just weirdly wholesome to me. Absolutely loved every bit of this video. Bravo 👏

@@redrock8259 It's a tree for crying out loud haha "skinning it alive" you're talking like it's an animal. Not saying trees aren't important as they obviously are
@@jasonchandler2754 You're not saying it, yet you're implying something similar which is devaluating them (I assume because they don't express feelings like animals, which not even all animals do) AND you're devaluating Orhan's concern for the trees, which may not be dramatic but it's also not very nice. The important point is, though and apart from semantics: trees are living beings, even though very "primitive" and they appear to be skinned alive which would be not cool. So Orhan has a very valid point and is right to adress the issue. In this case, though, he doesn't really, because the skinning seems to be done correctly, which causes regenerative and therefore deniably little harm to the tree.

I appreciate that you left in parts where, as you were working, something or other collapsed, and offscreen you would have to drag the necessary pieces back again. It really hammers home the idea of what this is: arduous labour, well and true. Some people have this idealized notion that living out in the woods self-sufficiently is some fun aesthetic dream to escape their current life, when in fact it's just as rough if not more so, for different reasons. It's something that you have to be passionate about, like you are. It takes courage and willpower to move on from failure, and oftentimes that failure is something that you had no control over. For people for whom this prospect meant life and death--for whose families the work done each day signified whether or not they would shudder out in the cold another night--you really painted a vivid picture of just how hard it would have been for them while also showing the methods they needed to succeed.

I am a Material Scientist, teacher, builder and have a keen interest in medical matters. You need to understand that when the human body is exposed to low temperatures and the core temperature is lowered , this can result in death. Humans maintain a temperature of 36.7 degrees Celsius, and sitting in water say at 5 degrees is quite dangerous. I teach construction at high school , here in Australia , and show students correct lifting techniques. Unless he used block and tackle, I do not understand how one man can lift some of those logs. Lifting weights wrongly will damage the spine and make the person unable to work. Seeing him lift that very heavy rock shows me he is doing things obviously wrong. There are many ways he can be injured, in particular, the receptive hitting of timber with an axe, He will suffer RSI, Repetative Strain Injury. I have used axes and mattocks and know, my wrists are not in best shape, he will develop early artrithtis.
@@daverivem4411 nailed it. I think the skills can be learned through trial and error. The actual issue is the land AKA money. Beautiful video, but sorry to say if loads people decided to build log cabins in the forest,we would have no trees or forests left and would probably have to have electricity to survive,so may not be so environmentally friendly!
@@connieh6136 that won’t even be likely a lot of people randomly decide to make A log cabin

Heart, soul, and a lot of money. which i assume come from his farmer parents. farmers tend to be fairly rich in sweden.
But obviously we should use the houses that we already have, rather than everyone ditching their houses to build log cabins... but if you are going to build new this is much more sustainable than modern house building techniques. i'm fascinated thinking about the technicalities.

The important point is, though and apart from semantics: trees are living beings, even though very "primitive" and they appear to be skinned alive which would be not cool. So Orhan has a very valid point and is right to adress the issue.

I used to not be a quitter but I think life and the past few years have made me very angry and impatient. Patience is a virtue and brings wonderful things
I’ve also been screaming a lot recently. Just a lot of anger...and no result seems worth my time so I become lazy. Thank you for sharing

WELCOME BACK ERIC. I'M SURE I COULD SPEAK FOR MANY TO SAY WE MISSED YOU... THE CABIN... THE DOGS... the snorting pig too!
To see all this in one video brings the memories flooding back. Here's wishing you continued success and perhaps much more besides. Above all, I've never seen you looking miserable, so you're obviously doing things "just right"!! Best wishes again from UK.
This is one of the reasons why I love Sweden, it has an endless supply of trees and nature. It's perfect for people who wants to stay connected with mother nature.

@@dylanhale6853 buying land is actually incredibly cheap compared to an actual house, you could buy an entire acre of land with a few thousand dollars
Around a year ago, I stumbled upon your "1 year alone" video and boy was I in for an amazing ride. Seeing the cabin now is just amazing, but what amazes me more is the message that I'm getting. That we deserve everything we want if we are willing to work for it. Thank you for this reminder! You are an inspiration! 🙂
That is, if some filthy rich person grants you 50 acres or so of pristine forest land.
@@Merzui-kg8ds I think this is northern Sweden, a few acres of land is not for the filthy rich up there. Most of Sweden is forrest. As if you moved to remote Canada.
@@Merzui-kg8ds Yes things have changed over the centuries and it is difficult to find land that is not already owned by someone. They usually sell it for the going rate which is expensive, hence why people like "the woodlander" here on RUclips works to connect groups of people to buy land collectively, and then begin the long process of living on it.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this young man build muscle throughout the video. And watching the puppy grow. So much growth in so many ways. What a delight for all of us who are lucky enough to watch this video…. There’s just something here that gives a genuine feeling of hope inspiration and encouragement.
Holy crap, Erik you're a badass‼Making a cabin by yourself with no power tools, breaking boulders, bathing in icy water, working in the rain and making amazing videos. Great job man, i'm subscribing.

This is hands down one the of the most beautiful videos I've ever seen on YT, not just seeing you build a cabin, cooking, and playing around with the dogs but also the cinematography, the way you film certain parts made it feel like a movie and that ending shot was just beautiful.

We have a saying in Jamaica: "You see a man's face, you don't see his heart;" so when I saw you haul your first few logs by hand, I thought to myself, Are you sure about this?! Two years later I decided to drop by, and am so proud of what you have accomplished. As an architect, you a layman(?) have taught me a lot with this video alone; so now I must go and check out the others.
Very few people in this world has determination like Erik and the skill/talents/natural gifts to be able to pull it off. Heck, people can't even change their own brakes for god's sakes.
This type of project is out of reach for 95% of the population.

My most sincere and enthusiastic congratulations to this young man for his amazing accomplishment.
What you have done is commendable. As an older adult now who built houses, I feel compelled to tell you that you need to take it easy on your body. I did the things you do and have no cartilage left in my right hip. Just because you can do it, doesn't mean that you should. I say this with respect and concern.
I was thinking the same thing. I cringed watching him man handle those logs.
My dad was the same and caused himself issues. I saw this and was too careful with how much I did and caused myself issues. Looking back I realise how dumb it was to avoid physical labour. It’s a balance.
Agreed, aint worth a bad back or a lost leg. When ya get used to hard work and ya get old an crippled up ya go stir crazy when ya can't do it anymore. Make sure ya stretch out every day.
Was it not worth it?
Don‘t worry, look closely, not all is as it seems.
Unreal where you sometimes get your strength from. Love your videos. ❤❤
Man, as a fellow established carpenter, I must say I am extremely impressed by some of the things you accomplished solo in this, firstly because of the danger of some of the tasks to attempt alone, but the skill and techniques you used. Very well done. Love to see this in this day and age.👏🏽
