Appreciate the intro to Insta360 Studio 5.0! Looking forward to your full tutorial. Please start with importing from camera, adding keyframes, changing views, switching to the Project tab, adjusting volume levels of camera audio and background music, and exporting. Also please show how to incorporate 360 stills into the video. Perhaps a couple of the clips you import into the project can be short clips to which special effects were added in the iPhone and exported to the Mac. This is so frickin' cool... Insta360 took us by surprise with this!

my insta360 is stuck at vers 4.9.2 - no option for ver 5...what is going on??
Is it just me or anyone else noticed it? Exporting became really slow. No matter if I use x264 or x265...As I remember I didn't have this before the version 5 update.

Thank god. Having to export each clip individually before made me use my camera 1% of the time because it was such a hassle
I had the issue that, I find the app on iOS very good but you need to import the files to the iPhone and I just have like 40 GB free. Last time I had over 100 GB of files and I couldn’t make a movie as I have not enough space. Excellent news!
I’m not only very happy with my ace bro but now with this update, it’s fantastic that I can edit everything on the PC🎉

that looks very similar interface to a phone app I'm using. I do like that it will except video from non 360 devices as well.

OMG, that was a long time coming! Don't get me wrong, Premiere Pro is still top notch, but this update just makes the workflow much more seamless.
add speed to the video, exit the program and come back, it doesn't remember the video speed and the program started to freeze after 3 days of use and you have only option of 30fps

To add music you need into import your music into the Project Media and drag into your video from there. It will not be part of the music folder.
Edited all my insta 360 on insta studio so I’m very familiar with it, then export it to Final Cut Pro to do more with it and add my choice of music, Great to see more features, shame about nit being able to add own music yet but not an issue, enjoyed watching 🤩
You can add your own music by using the same file uploaded as your videos
Look forward to downloading 5.0 and using FCPX much less frequently :)

Long needed. I have the X3 and love the freedom it gives but the whole editing faff is frustrating, especially as so much is done through the phone. I far prefer a desktop.
QUESTION: Does the Insta/360 FCPX plugin allow you to do all this anyway when importing X3 footage?
Yay, looks like Insta360 Studio becomes a full video editor! The workflow of framing in Studio, then editing a full video in Davinci Resolve is so cumbersome... will try this out with the next project. Hope they add music import soon!
Just open the general media tab in project view and import music there

I have the studio app on my Mac as of today, where do you have all those Linear, natural POVs? where did that come from? I don't have them. And yes my Firmware is up to date version 5.2.2.

BIGGEST UPDATE EVER??? So why not just add a cloning brush to get rid of the tripod in stills. Way more useful than adding silly transitions or music that your never going to use. Yes, this can be done in Affinity etc but to have it there in the Insta 360 app would by loads better.
Great! This one pass editor should give better quality, in theory, than the two passes required before. Is that actually noticable?
I haven’t compared - you may notice it on a larger screen. With premiere two passes is recommended for better quality but maybe with the studio one pass is the same quality but quicker.
Finally this update solves the problem of only editing one section of the video at the time. For me this was one of the reasons i didnt edit more videos on the insta360 because was not efficient at all.
Has anyone figured out how to change the frame rate in the Project mode. Allowing it to match the clip rate you are adding? It seem to be greyed out at 30FPS

That's actually what I was hoping. I have 3-4 programs that do what the Project part does but the shot lab stuff is pretty much unique to Insta360 and would be great to have on desktop. Gettinmg tired of editing them on an iPad and then importing. Add Shot Lab please Insta360.

So I may be missing something, but I don't think this new software update supports adding audio tracks to 360 video videos and exporting them as 360 videos? Or the 180VR ? If it does, could someone kindly walk be through this?
why fps is locked? i wanna edit my onex2 videos which are 25 fps..and i cant? why is thaT? i will have to export at 30 fps which will cause drop frames ..any clue?

Don't update to Studio 5.2 without completing your projectsver and exporting them because ver 5.2 won't load your old projects
Rich: Is the music non-copyright so it can be used to monetize your videos on RUclips? Capcut's music isn't usable, at least some of it as it demonetized my video where I used a few of their songs and 2 or 3 got hit immediately on upload. It looks like it is becoming a decent, if basic, NLE.
Hi Danny, that’s a good point and the reason I didn’t demo the music because I’m not 100% sure. In the past I’ve been told insta music is copyright free but it’s always a gamble on RUclips which is why I use epidemic sound. Yes it is getting closer to being a very easy to use NLE, it’s been a long wait.
@@EatSleep360 I did a test and the music was found to be copyright but permitted to be used strike free.
be VERY careful using any of the supposedly free music in this app as ive already had a copyright hit when using it!
Can you tell us which track? The one I used was fine (copyright but was permitted to be used).
@@Ozpeter track by Stuart jones- together in love, according to the RUclips link it’s provided by orchard music enterprises released 2006. I think unless all music in insta360 studio is declared as usable it’s best to avoid it all because it will just create additional work for everyone and obviously a lot of uncertainty as to whether it’s usable or not. I only used the first 2 minutes which is what’s in The insta studio app.
@@Ozpeterjust had a SECOND “video cannot be monetised “ message from RUclips even though they originally said it was fine. I will not use any more of these so called copyright free songs, it’s not worth the effort when someone else is going to benefit from my video

Ver. 5.0 will not allow export of edited videos. Asked same question on Insta web site but no answer but did notice many others having same problem. Kept getting Error code 1024
I'd like my titles below every footage, mostly first line in Dutch, second line in English, that's not possible I saw. That would save a lot of time. I used to edit in 'Movavi'. Further very nice update!
All I want is FASTER exports of clips so I can edit in Davinci. The exports are extremely slow.
I'm having nothing but trouble with Studio. Not sure if it's my laptop. It's got a Intel Core i7 4800MQ 2.7GHz with 32gb RAM. Irrespective if I try Media or Project the files just won't load. I tried a 10 second clip as a test and an hour later the loading icon is still turning with no pic of the clip. I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it and nothing works. I've even tried it through Winlator onto my Samsung S8 Ultra tablet. Same thing there just won't load. When you click anything while trying to load it crashes every time. Any help would be greatly appreciated...
As there is no option to import music yet, I was able to drag into the timeline an MP3 Music file from my Mac library, On exporting the project, the music track is heavily compressed with a lower volume output and somewhat a little dull sounding, but possibly useable if its not an important project video
This will make using insta360 for video a lot more useful.

I see people saying that the new update also allows GPS data overlays, but as yet I've not found a way to do this, I know it can be done on the mobile app, but I also see some people saying it's come in the new desktop app. Would be great to see a video on this at some point. (I know you did one a few yrs back on an older version, but an update would be fab)
Really like that we can now add multiple clips to a project, it's one thing that's really been lacking until now.
I had just upgraded my insta360 studio to version 5 but I did not see music, text, transition in the apps. Can you tell me why ??
still can't edit the exposure, shadows and highlights..... :( you can do that stuff in the app on a fucking smartphone but not on a computer??? or am i just to stupid to find it?

@@DorianGRMC I solved the issue. in Mac OS the Insta360 Studio starts with Full Screen, that's why you cannot see the new Media and Project option. Just go to Window menu and choose "Enter Full Screen", the application will extend to Full Screen, Choose Full Screen again and you will see the new Media and Project options, or just press Shift+Command +F twice and here you go.
you can import mp3 by dragging the file onto the timeline ;)

Not seeing the ability to edit log footage - where's the LUT support? Even though there's no real video editing capability (in terms of image parameters) at least being able to export corrected log footage would have been good. Now I have to think about not using log unless I'm using Resolve as the editor.

You can select proxy files when you edit which should make it quicker as they are lower resolution but still export at high resolution

I wish dragging the edges of 2 clips would make an automatic crossfade, like in Vegas. I don't see why hardly any editor does this.
Yes there are little tweaks that hopefully they will now make like fades and dissolves

Have You selected project, not media and then import your clips and the options should show up. Make sure you start a new project otherwise the new options don’t come up - I had that issue with titles which didn’t show up at first.

It looks promising. Though I STILL figured it out how to export project to 360 VR in native 5.7K res (I can do that from Media tab, but in Project tab I can't find the VR export options - they are only for flat records). Someone help? 🥺
Following this, as I'm looking for the same thing. Would love to edit my 360 VR clips together to view on a Quest headset, but don't see that in the export function.

Is it possible yet to cut from one view to another with continuous audio, or are we still limited to 5-frame zip-pans as the closest two key frames can be together? This would be useful, for example, when cutting from one person to another in conversation around a table.
You’d have to just put the same track on the time line twice in a row and then trim it so that it cuts from one person to the next. This would only work if there’s no overlap in the two people talking. The studio does have limitations and this is one of them.
Great news! I'll go and fire up my PC now! Are there any copyright issues with the music? I don't want any copyright strikes on forthcoming RUclips videos.
I uploaded a public video using the V5 music and it was flagged as copyright but permitted to be used with no strike.
i had a copyright hit .... couldnt monetise it so removed and had to replace music so i would suggest avoid.
Are keyframe transitions broken? Or maybe I'm doing something wrong. In the previous version I just clicked on the yellow line between keyframes. This doesn't seem to work anymore in 5.0.0. Thanks for the video.

Ok, here's how keyframe transitions now work. Instead of delicately clicking on the yellow line, simply ensure the playhead (the playing back position) is over the relevant keyframe transition line. Make sure that the clip you are working on is selected (click on it so you get the yellow box round it). Ensure that the "video" tab is displayed on the right hand panel of the interface. Then you will see the options for keyframe transitions appear and you can click on the one you want, to edit the yellow line currently (in effect) playing. This actually works much better IMHO but - YMMV!
I tried it last night with a video from our Cruise in DEC. It went so smoothly and I love adding the sound and titles right in the program now. Thanks!
Only update for reframed videos? Nothing for 360VR creators? That's mean we should to stay sticked to Premiere. This update didn't bring anything to me then . 😢
I would not have purchased resolve if this would have been there 5 years ago, but now I am happy I have it. Will still give it a go

It's crazy that after all these years, they finally figured this out. Lowkey, this is giving CapCut/inShot vibes wouldn't be surprised if they brought in some devs from those respective teams.
Biggest Fail: Music. Like, bruh WHAT? lol... Why can't I drag and drop a mp3. That's craziness.
You can import mp3 using the standard file importer - I was looking under the music tab - my mistake. Yes it’s taken them a while but it’s the first step now to becoming a proper edit software - give it a couple of years I reckon.

This might rejuvenate my interest in my X2 camera.
I just did a quick upload of a garbage video made with this great new version and I proved that...
- Yes you can use your own audio
- Yes you can use video not related to Insta360 cameras
- Yes the Insta360 music is copyright on RUclips but allowed to be used (no strike)
- No you cannot crossfade audio between clips
- Yes you can fade audio in and out
- No you cannot fade in video at the start nor fade it out at the end of the project. Shame.
A great summary thanks Peter, I’ll share this on my facebook group - the one thing I haven’t tested yet is the ability to export multiple 360 videos on the same timeline. One crude workaround for a fade could be to upload a black matte photo or literally to record with the lens cap on, shorten it to two seconds and then add a transition. Surprised they missed such a simple feature.

! woild like to see how you unwrap a tiny planet clip and later show it as an equi-rectangular video
You can add a keyframe and select tiny planet or natural view and it will transform from one to the other. I think I was showing 2.35:1 not equirectangular - you can’t go to full equirectangular from tiny planet as far as I know.
