Excellent video. Nobody seems to talk about the rhythm of great golfers, but it is a key factor. I was marshalling at the Open Championship at RSG a few weeks ago (sorry, humble brag), and when the crowd was quiet, I could watch best swings on the planet for 5 hours. The thing that stayed with me was the unhurried quality of their downswings. As you’re saying in this video, to a man they seemed to finish their backswing and then gather their body over the ball before exploding into the strike. I’ve been struggling to process this experience, and this video has greatly helped me put some science behind the vague sense of their timing that I had. Thanks again, Jonathan
Thanks Jonathan. Understanding that my power comes com the ground forces and key is to position this power before I release. I am doing 6:2 beat. It's the pace my body is capable of at my age. Have been playing the best golf in my life. Thank you so much!!!
I think the hint to swing slower when in the fugue state of competition may be the best tip of the year for me. Hope it is just what I need for Matchplay this weekend
I spent months ruining my swing trying to obtain so called Tour Tempo, 3 to 1 back to downswing. Thank God for Collin Morikawa who swings at 4 to 1 and Sun Jae I'm, who's even slower. Now I don't worry about it just make sure I pause at the top to let my lower body start the downswing and the rest takes care of itself. I agree that it's important to be consistent but in my case 3 to 1 is way rushed.
I think about the tempo of my swing a lot & I think you've captured the essence of that in this video. When on the golf course I believe I have a tendency to rush my swing & then I might try to slow it down & that doesn't work either. Then I don't think about it & it works. This video was extremely helpful in making me realize I need to establish a tempo & stick to it as much as possible.
Interesting video, Jonathan. My big struggle intellectually with this is the kind of words that are: delay your arm swing. To explain: if I said punch a punch bag as fast as you can, you think only hit bag. Sure your body will transport your hand first before your arm extends. But it’s not conscious. How do we delay the arm swing like you are suggesting?
Best instructor on the internet.
Constituent movements - your channel is also a good source to learn the English language.

"...gather their body over the ball before exploding into the strike..." I love that. Thanks for sharing that experience and your description.
This vid helped me shoot a pb today, thanks Jonathan 👍🏻

This is so difficult, but essential for consistency.
Great video this is probably the most difficult part of the swing

Very good vid.
Do one about putting your left elbow on target at set up. Keeps dispersion tight. Especially driver. Gives automatic tilt. Etc.

Very useful Jonathan.
Thanks again Sir

Thank you once more. I am really curious to practice it.
Jonathan have you seen Manual de la Torre explain his swing that he taught
Excellent video Jonathan! Can something similar be achieved using a stopwatch? Thanks Regards Ian
The trouble is that you can‘t look at the stop watch and swing the club at the same time🤷🏻
