Great races. One must say that no much bouncing after the first set of cars it's crucial, then keeping a straight line until the second set. Plus some risky, bold driving like Rod Litzau displayed here. USA 1-Grave Digger was the best race... And Mad Dog almost bites USA 1!
The references they make to previous races, who beat who, how, why; those are the details that make for an interesting series & get people invested in who they want to win. Those story-lines combined with the fact that every single race determined how much money each driver made led to some great angles on & off the track. And we've seen that those rivalries can exist with the same camaraderie & sportsmanship behind the scenes that keeps the sport of Monster Trucks alive & well. Take notes Monster Jam, at some point the spectacle impact will wear off & you'll be searching for substance.
I think the spectacle wore off several years ago. Freestyle used to be awesome before the rules and scoring became needlessly complicated, and the car and bus stacks were replaced by immovable dirt mounds. "Sick air", popularised by Tom Meents and Jimmy Creten, and cyclones have been replaced by backflips and frontflips.
In terms of points during 89, Bigfoot only ran the New York miniseries and no other races. The events in which Bigfoot competed during the winter for TNT were non-point events.
