- I wanted to challenge myself and see if I could make the new Star Wars movie make Sense. So I adjusted the perspective a little and filled all the plot holes and flaws with a story that made the movies better. Enjoy.

Just like the Jar Jar sith theory for episodes 1-3 this would save the trilogy for me.
I've only watched from beginning to end the second movie of the 2nd trilogy. That being said, I've never really cared for the Star Wars franchise. I love the redlettermedia content to come from it but that's it. This theory makes me really consider watching this trilogy once it wraps up if it truly ends up being correct. Great vid once again, love your work!

@@pianogirl8439 Yes, Jar Jar is theorized to be the Sith Lord that started the war in the middle trilogy. It appears that he uses a force jump in one scene dodging drones rapidly firing at him. He is also seen using his Jedi Mind tricks on characters during pivotal scenes where serious decisions are made. He leads the main characters right into Darth Maul and is seen with another Sith Lord in the beginning before the big meeting of political leaders.
This is so good it makes me physically angry that I know they won't do this

@@johncarpenter413 I think Palpatine's original plan was to move his soul into Rey's body. He wanted to posses her because his own body was utterly broken and crippled, but when he saw both Rey and Kylo are couple in the force, he learned that he could harness the energy of balance of the force to recover. I saw a change in his true plan. I can say Palpatine had no idea how to use the force to heal or recuperate because the dark side of the force knows only pain and destruction, it seems the balance of light and dark is the answer he and Anakin sought for so long. Sadly that answer only lasted for a very short period of time. Kylo learned that power from Rey, but this power required sacrifices, it took a heavy toll on user's body. This is the reason why Kylo got the upper hand when fighting Rey, because Rey had used that power to heal the giant snake, Rey became weaker, then when Kylo used that power to bring Rey back into life, that power consumed all his life force and then he died.
In Star Wars, all Imperials have British accents, so this theory can be canon.

@@journeymanX In the Old Republic the accents were greatly discriminated. Once they heard someone with a British accent they immediately assumed that that person was an Imperial.
The same probably doesn't apply to the movies series.

Well, she does have a British accent, which is traditionally reserved for the baddies. So, your theory clicks.
Maybe George Lucas started out with that in mind, but it all became very inconsistent throughout the saga, because not all of the bad guys have British accents. There are some imperials that have North American accents in EPIV (Chief Motti), EPV ( crew of The Executor ) and EPVI (right at the start in the landing shuttle). I guess that most of the senior ranking officials and character do, so that explains cannon fodder like stormtroopers having US voices ("there's one, set for stun!"). But the biggest baddie of all Anakin/ Vader has an American accent - although James Earl Jones sounds like he's attempting to sound British. And Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi Wan Kenobi are goodies...and have Irish and Scottish accents respectively...kjør debatt!
@@rangeboy7210 To be fair, I meant it as a joke, but I really enjoyed reading your reply. There's probably no intention in assigning British accents to evil characters in SW, but the US filmmakers do have a penchant for doing that, which likely rubbed off on Lucas.

Near the end of the movie I was hoping for Rey to turn to the Dark Side because it'd be a huge cliffhanger and would be an actual subversion of expectations.
Like you already mentioned, she went straight towards the Dark Side when on the island so her turning wouldn't be completely out of nowhere.
This theory of her always being evil is an even better idea and am sad now since I'm 99.999% sure that it's not going to happen.
If I would be doing movie 9 I would have her flip to the other side.
Luke tried to warn her about the Jedi and the restrictiveness of the jedi code, Rey saw this as Luke having lost his faith.
She has takes the books from the tree that turn out she was not supposed to have, and goes full ham on the jedi codes and all the things Luke tried to warn er about.
So when we would see Rey again in Episode 9 she would have basically become a jedi code extremist.
then have a moral to the story that going to extremes on either side is a bad thing.
What makes you 99% sure she won't turn to the dark side? That's literally the only place her character can go. The fact that most people can't figure it out baffles me.

@@Trazynn It could've worked if Rey was an unwitting sleeper agent, so everything about her remains consistent. Like Red Arrow in Young Justice.
Its also not uncommon for young Sith to betray elder Sith to gain advantages. Infact, its encouraged. They believe that, by doing this, old and weaker Sith can be replaced by younger and more powerful ones. It is possible that Rey deemed Snoke weaker and, therefore, eliminated him. Thus, she takes his place and becomes stronger.

The fulfilment of your theory there is the only actual way I could end up liking the new trilogy. I pray to God that this scenario is what they had in mind from the start. If so, I will be the first one to applause.
I will add some nuance though : I don't think Snoke would have planned to kill Rey if she was his secret agent. After all, she's more proficient with the Force than Kylo Ren, and probably and better disciple. So, my theory is that Rey is actually a double agent indeed, but working for a third party : emperor Palpatine. My belief is that she's a clone of the emperor in hiding, while his spirit is finding a way to come back like in the expanded universe. Maybe he will even possess her at the end.
She was given the mission to find Skywalker and ensure Snoke - Palpatine's challenger for the command of the empire's remnants - is eliminated. So Rey's true mission might be to prepare the emperor's return. The only characters whose role in the story I still don't understand are the Knights of Ren.
But once again, congratulations for the amazing theory. You really blew my mind there. You won a like and a follower.

Now just come up with a way that Luke isn't dead and you'll have my lightsaber.
Force teleportation. Only Luke has mastered it. He teleports off planet at the end of episode VIII and appears on another planet at the beginning of episode IX. No space ship needed. It is also why no one can track or find him. It does take a lot out of him though. We, on the other hand were led to believe he died. Clever ruse.

Luke's mechanical hand never fell to the surface when he "died". He is absolutely still alive and my theory is that he is 100% using force teleportation. I predict he'll be alive and well, living in the outer rim with wife Mara. I originally placed Rey as being the daughter of Luke and Mara, cousin to Ben/Kylo...but this GENIUS idea that she is actually a Sith spy is PERFECT! It sets up the return of Emperor Palpatine in IX nicely, her creator, and sets up a MONSTER battle as the closing act.
Luke is the actual Sith Master and Kylo is his apprentice. The rest is a show to get the other two sides to play against each other. Luke needs the Republic and the First Order to wipe each other out, but the resistance is losing after Star Killer Base wiped most of their fleet and primary headquarter planet out so some balance needs to be restored first and First Order needs to be taken down a notch and Snoke eliminated along with his REAL student, REY. Luke makes himself appear to disappear (he's able to block his force presence so Leia thinks he's gone), but he will show up alive and well in the next movie. Luke is the new the Sith Master as the final film will reveal and the galaxy will bend to his will. He realizes where he screwed up was passing up his father's offer to rule the galaxy as father and son and so now he intends to rule the galaxy as Uncle and Nephew. This brings me back to the Rey’s Parents theories; there were a lot of similarities between Rey’s and the Emperor’s fighting styles (both using specific thrusts and whatnot). Also, there was the vision that had Palpatine’s voiceover when Rey first touched the lighter saber. Could be a link?

What if she WAS a sith but ultimately lost her memories only to be retrained in the ways of the Jedi, like Revan? We know it’s possible to be in control of both the light and dark side.
In order for this story to be true, the writers would have to take risks. Disney and Lucas Films arent in the business of taking risks. They like safe predictable baby stories that have happy endings.

What if Rian Johnson is a secret genius, who knew he'd never get the good but absolutely bonkers story he really wanted to make approved? So he decided to hide it in a story that the Disney managers would eat up. For real, checking off all the SJW checkboxes is no excuse for making a boring film with boring characters doing useless things. But what if it's like a 'Usual Suspects' situation, where the story you watch isn't the actual story of the film? Of course, there are a few differences. Namely, the false story in 'The Usual Suspects' was still a very good story, and finding out it was all fake was what really shocked you and put the film over the top. TLJ didn't do that at all, so I'd still call it a failure in the end, but it would be a much more respectable failure.

I think the only part where the theory kind of falls apart is at the idea of them sacrificing the Death Star 3, er, I mean, Starkiller Base.
This idea makes a lot of really odd and/or bewildering design choices suddenly make some kind of sense. And it would also make sense of something that always bothered me: that she has an Imperial British accent. Sure, Daisy Ridley is a brit in real life, but so is Finn and he doesn't keep his accent - however, if she were an Imperial Spy, that would explain why she wouldn't sound like the other people on Jakku do.
Sadly, though, we know this can't be true because that would mean Rey would finally have some depth as a character - and then, not only would she no longer be all-powerful for no reason, but Disney couldn't reasonably try and sell her as a role model for little girls and couldn't reasonably use her character in their theme parks. :^(

Don't a lot of "high grade" and high budget movies have terrible story lines much worse than a lot of "fan fiction" anyway? Games and movies are losing their story-telling authors. Maybe people aren't as creative today, or too focused on money, or there just isn't as good of instruction on how to story tell anymore... regardless... many stories in the movies today are not about good stories, but about graphics/cool scenes, politics, and making money off previous franchises.

Interesting theory, but it's a little janky. This whole idea becomes a lot more elegant and more low profile if Rey doesn't know she's a sleeper agent and if Finn isn't one at all. Everything else stays the same and still makes sense, but we don't need to reinterpret as many scenes scenes and it leads into 9 with an actual conflict for all the characters involved. Even if it were true, though, the most it can do is make it _possible_ for 9 to be good. It can't retroactively make TLJ _not_ boring and incomprehensible.

Huge massive flaw in this theory.
When all of the surviving members of the resistance were trapped in the old base, why would Rey save them at the end of episode 8, if she worked for the first order???
Think about it, all of their enemies were seen to be on that planet and Rey knew already from what she had been told that if someone were using the force to fight someone on a world where they were not physically at, they would die as Luke did at the end of episode 8. The power requirements were more than any being could handle and it simply burned them out to the point that their bodies just failed, as Luke's did.
So there was no longer any need for Rey to stay close to the resistance and therefore no reason at all to save them, and since they knew exactly where Luke was, they could even send a fleet of star destroyers to decimate all life on that planet just to make sure that he was dead.
Rey even commented to Leia at the end of the movie that Luke was dead, and Leia agreed, so again, Rey had completed her mission to locate Luke Skywalker and she even knew that he was now dead, and now she had the very few survivors of the resistance at her mercy, but she did not kill them, she saved them.
She could have quite easily just dropped a boatload of big rocks on their heads and literally crushed the resistance.
I think the flaw is that (Snoke/Sidious/Rey) is not looking for Luke necessarily, but for something Luke has/had/knows... something to make the parable of Darth Plagueis reach its end, perhaps. Maybe they need the third piece of the Deathly Hallows (sic).

I agree with you on this because there is a lot of scenes in the first two movies which shows the protagonists being genuine in wanting to help the resistance. I think its more of Rey being a culmination of both the darkside and lightside because when she went in to the dark side nexus she didn't seem to have an alteration in her personality unlike with Anikin which clearly went from light to dark. I think that the d23 sith Rey would be like a fight in her mind in which she would accept the both her dark and her light sides all together bringing perfect balance in the force. That would make more sense than her being just a sith sleeper agent. Also Kylo already lost his chance at redemption in last jedi it shows on the final scene where Rey closed herself from Kylo. I think that the plotholes in the Last Jedi would be rounded up in Rise of Skywalker in which Rey will create a new order that finds balance in both the light and the dark. Those are the most common thropes in the stories recently.
Maybe finding Luke wasn't her only mission? And maybe Snoke was just a Palpatine puppet the whole time. Like, palps orchestrated the fight between the First Order and the.... "resistance".... so that both sides would loose a lot. Then Palps swoops in with the real empire and crushes both the First order and the Resistance.
What I am getting at is.... maybe she is still undercover to cause more damage to both sides, so it will be easier for Palpatine's empire to conquer both sides.
Moreover, and relating to Palpatine, I thought he originally started those whole war by creating rebels so the Republic would militarize because he foresaw a large scale attack from a civilisation outside of the KNOWN Republic. Knowing the Republic had no defenses because it was peaceful, he caused there civil war and continued to keep there sides... Even enough... So that both sides would become stronger and could come together to defend against a truly bad common enemy.
I think there is a good portion of audience would like to see Rey turns to the dark side. But the Mouse won't let this happen.
I would like to see her die along the other sequel charachters. Seriously the only way to make me satisfied. The characters i don't care about may die the way nobody cares about. Like make Rey die in the beginning with arms chopped away by Chewbacca because she won this hologram game with him. This would save the movies cause i would laugh my ass of for 2 hours straight :)

Figrin Dan I’m just imagining how this could pan out in the real movie... holy crap it would redeem the series. One of them hears the “code word” from like phasma or snoke’s spirit thing and then a massive flashback would take Rey or Finn by surprise and have the audience catch up with the whole thing through scenes that flash before the audience’s faces. Yunno, pledges of allegiance and killing good guys stuff 😂 And a way Disney could actually have this done (coz I know full well they don’t have the guts to actually have Rey or Finn be a dark side character) is they could have the character fight these feelings and memories with the experiences they’ve had helping the resistance.. and Ye big epic plot twist that ends in the character changing from their sith roots to a light side hero ready to fight the first order or whatever nonsense they gotta do to be the hero.
In the end there will be another generic rey vs kylo ren fight, rey will ultimately win, peace is restored to the universe, the end.

He funded the Knights of Ren as pirates prior to Darth Sideous "killing" him...but NOT removing his head which was his counsel to Darth Sideous while he was Plagues's apprentice. Likewise, Plagues was the money behind the entire plan to get Siedous as Chancellor. He could have funded the rise of the First Order after the empire's fall. 7 gift-wrapped so many amazing potential plotlines but the dropped them all. ALL OF THEM!

Having now seen the episode 9 trailer, wouldn't it be a slightly better fit re: the plot beats if Rey was a spy for Palpatine, not Snoke? That way, all the animosity between Rey and Kylo/Snoke would be genuine.

It's an automatic fail for them to even say that publicly. GL didn't reveal that piece of information until AFTER the scene was shot, and only James Earl jones knew because he needed to say the line in his ADR session. Most people in the crew, and the actors didn't find out until the movie came out.
