Sometimes I just like to think about how alien an animal's perspective is. We can't even imagine what it would be like to be standing on a set of train tracks and not even grasp what they are conceptually, even after potentially the hundredth time you've accidentally stood on them. It's like that Roadside Picnic book that talks about the pigeon standing on a newspaper. It knows it's standing on something weird, but it doesn't even have the faculties to think about its purpose or use.

They don't realize that it runs along the train tracks. They just think it's another predator since weird big foreign thing that's moving and making a lot of noise. For the Deer, that means "run the fuck away and hope it starts eating the first guy it catches instead of trying to catch more". For the Bear it's "PROTECT CUBS PROTECT CUBS CATCH THESE HANDS MF".
