Did what you talked about and it worked!!! Thanks I been waiting on my property manager tech to come for two and half days now to fix this issue I was having. My Family and myself appreciate the video.
Awesome! Glad it was helpful.
I came home and My thermostat was off. I checked my drain pump connected to the AC and the water level was up to the brim of the pump. I gave it a few taps and the pump kicked in, Which in effect turned on the thermostat. Really appreciate it!!
bro opening with the red solo is insane
Thanks for the video, I was troubleshooting my A/C and my thermostat stated that it was not getting power, and eventually shut off. After watching this, I went and triggered the valve on the A/C and the thermostat came back to life.
Watched this video and the first one you made. It definitely helped out. Now my gf thinks I'm a hero and I'm about to go have some fun!
So vacuum the water and then it turns on by itself??? No need to do anything else ??
There‘s typically a drip pan that the unit sits in. There is a switch that will turn off the unit if enough water fills up the pan and reaches the switch. So remove the water from the pan and the switch will reactivate the unit. If the water is removed and the unit doesn‘t reactivate, then there is another issue somewhere.
go outside with your shopvac (filter removed as you did before) and find your AC's condensate drain pipe (near the condenser unit). Use the shopvac and your hand or similar to apply suction to the drain pipe (and marvel at the gooey phlegm you are about to extract). That will relieve water condensate back-up due mold/algal growth in the pipe.
Awesome video! I exactly got the same problem and resolved it after watching this video. Thanks to this video I saved some $$$.
😂 That little switch is a Fill Level Limiter… too avoid having your pan overflowing! Your issue is… 1) You need to change your filter or filters. (The one you showed & possibly another at Air Intake Vent.
When these filters get dirty or clogged, the system will not run efficiently enough to remove the moisture from the air and this will cause the moisture to accumulate in the pan!
2) Vacuum all the water out of your pan!
* Another situation that will cause this problem is…. If your outflow tube is clogged up, it will not drain the water from the pan!
The easiest solution is to find the vent pipe for your outflow pipe. It’s usually easy to find, because it is the only pipe (usually 1/2” white pvc pipe next to the unit, in a horizontal position with the top of the pipe open toward the ceiling!)
Carefully… Pour about 2-3 cups of liquid bleach into the open pipe and let it sit in there for about 10 mins.
Now, pour about 8oz of water into the open pipe!!!
This works well, Good Success!!!
You’ve given me some things to check and i am crossing my fingers!! 😊
“Captain save the day” exactly what my problem was thank you! 💰
So the thermostat turns off IF the pump stops working and the drain pan fills up?!!!
Yea Honeywell don’t add any type of indicator other than just completely turning the thermostat off! Great job…
Thanks for this video! We didn’t have the same problem but it sparked our thought process to fix it.
Problem in freezing temperatures: Woke up with my thermostat, no power ?
Discovery: our condensation line that leads to outside from the inside unit. If your having this problem check for this condensation line outside. Mine was solid frozen, preventing proper drainage. I used a high heat hand heater to carefully thaw out ice. Once I cleared the line, unit resume heating operations. Hope this will help someone.
I called the maintenance company: the problem was that the tube inside was full of water (not like yours) but the sensor made the thermostat turn off. He removed the sensor, to drain the tube, and he also went outside and put a vacuum next to the AC's condensate drain pipe for about 20 min to drain the rest. A lot of crap came out of there. We paid $250 for everything.
It worked for me!
Thank you for your video 👍👍
Thank you! This worked!
Can Confirm
Thanks Chris. Similar issue only took wiggling the plug wire. Unfortunately ours is all enclosed but just the wiggle got everything draining again - it was probably the water like yours.
Since you have a Condensate Pump, it's going to happen again. Buy some HVAC pan tabs (tablets) and put one in your pump catch basin and put one in the condensate pan of the HVAC unit when you change your filter or more often if you have a lot of humidity. Pan tabs are essentially fungicide/algaecide that will keep the water from getting 'snotty' and clogging up the drain lines.
NEVER use bleach or chlorine in your pump or condensate pan as it is corrosive and will ruin your coils over time.
I worked at an apartment complex that used those condensation pumps and one of them did the same thing, it would start working when you tap on it. You will need to change the pump, or it will keep shutting off and letting the water drain in the pan.
Very helpful, thank you
Thanks save me some $$$. Was able to suck and clean my AC pipes.
Thank you!!!!!! I have the same setup. Bought this house in December. It took me a bit to find. I now know the previous owner also had the same issue because they left a little tool to suck the water out from the tube and a small Tupperware to put the water in lol. Now I just need to find out why that is happening.
You are sent from Heaven 🥹 thank you brother
The Electric Company was working in my neighborhood and shut everyones power. My screen has been frozen ever since. The unit still comes on but I can't control the temperature
AT 1:51 OF THE VIDEO THERE IS A RED WIRE GOING TO A FLOAT SWITCH ON YOUR PAN. THATS WHAT WAS KEEPING THE UNIT FROM WORKING.
I had a blank screen on my Honeywell, I trouble shot every thing, an the last thing I did was checked the 3 Amp fuse in the furnace control panel an notice it was blown, 1 dollar later my system was fixed.
Saved my ass, Thank you king
This saved my ass. Thank you.
Just noticed my Honeywell wifi thermostat had no power either. Coincidentally I just happen to have a main sewer line that is clogged (moron previous owners dumped grease and whatever down it so I have to unclog it every now and then) but the float switch was full of water. Didn’t think it just cut the power to the thermostat. Know I know! Thanks! 😂
Thanks this worked for me!!
Mine doesn’t have a drain pan and my thermostat will come on 😢
Appreciate that
My condensate pump tripped because the plastic tubing (discharge) to the outside had frozen. This causes an error on the pump if it can't pump and trips the power to the thermostat. I have a five gallon bucket and about two feet of tubing that I use until the freeze is over. This clears the error on the condensate pump and restores power to the thermostat. It takes a few minutes for the heat to start up. I have pictures of this if anyone would like to see them.
Yes please

THANK SO MUCH...!!!!
I had my AC fixed last week. Today it stopped working. Apparently the water detector was laying on the bottom of the pan.
Or check the little 5 amp fuse in the furnace. Looks like I’d blown mine
Control voltage circuit open
Nice shirt
Where can I find this water?
Float Switch
YESSSSSSSSSS
Omg. So there's a raccoon hanging out in this part of my house. I suspect he did something and that's why my thermostat isn't turning on.
Wildlife removal guy can't come until tomorrow... i hope he didn't cause too much damage
Two words, wet vacuum
Don’t forget to put new batteries in thermostat 😮
Since the thermostat has never had a place to put batteries, I duct-taped some to the front. Still didn't work. Batteries must be expired.
thanks you so much it worked for me!
