- Now comes time for the horsepower mod! But what tune should I go with? There are a Ton of them out there but I have narrowed it down to these top 3 !
Unitronic I have some experience with on another Audi, which was quicker than My 2019 WRX I used to have on the channel . But Is $1300 and 524 at the crank and then another another 100 for stage 2 with it.....?
Apr has been around for a long while but they have recently reduced their price, to $800 for a stage one that will get 500 is to the crank!
Dyno Spectrum is the new kid on the block coming to America from the UK. Its 1300 but its flexible with gives you options the other don't offer without getting reconfigured. Drop a comment in the description and let me know what you think!!! Also let me know what tune you are running and your experience with it.

New to your channel, but glad I found it... Keep up the great content!
I have APR stg 1 in my S7, got the ECU & TCU on a black Friday discount...still works well after 10k+
Dyno Spectrum for sure
It got so much features compared to the other
I agree! Ie is a good tune but for I want to do I’m sticking with DS1
I too live in Colorado and have an S7. We should meet up. I am looking to get a tune soon.
Absolutely!!!
Go with Dyno Spectrum... APR seemingly ceased all map development on the 4.0T in 2019, no longer offers Stage 2 for OEM turbos, their Stage 3 RS mapping is pretty conservative on pump fuel, and they offer no Stage 3+ solution for +4mm RS turbos or GTX hybrids.
I've been running APR Stage 2 + TCU tune on an S7 at 5000ft+ altitude, quite similar to Colorado... Having upgraded to +4mm RS turbos, I contacted the local APR dealer in August last year about going Stage 3, and got quoted a cool $1100... 😂
Taking into account the wider range of mod-specific canned tunes available on the DS1, as well as the flexibility for custom tuning, it's a no-brainer if you plan to mod the car further in future.
Truthfully Dyno spectrum has shown out of the three the most flexible tune that you can get, so I hundred percent agree with you!
I’m also in Colorado and I own the S6 with the Unitronics Stage 2+ and DSG tune. I have to do more research on the Dyno Spectrum tune. I like the E-85 option
You should RUN, not walk to get the DS1. Just so much more for the money. I'm running Integrated Engineering stg2, but it will NOT support my TTE turbos(wasted $800), but for now it does made my S6 a Hell Cat Killer
@@bbigrocker1 It would be interesting to see if I could keep my DSG stage 2 tune and use the DS1 tune also. I’ll reach out to Dyno Spectrum.
@@isaeaton I would not be surprised. I've so much good stuff about DS1 that I bought it!
DS1 gets my vote, but I’m biased 😂
No, you're SMART!
Go with Dyno Spectrum. I have Unitronic ECU Stage 1+ with a TCU stage 1 and love it and will be going stage 2 ECU and TCU this summer with Unitronic only because it makes more financial sense since I’ve already bought into the Unitronic program and I already own the HPA downpipes. However, if I could go back and start all over I would go Dyno Spectrum just because once you spend that $1300 that’s pretty much it and it offers so much more custom tunability like you said. There wasn’t a lot of info or videos on Dyno spectrum back when I went Unitronic so that’s the main reason I didn’t go that route but like I said I’m very happy with Unitronic I just think Dyno Spectrum is the way to go these days especially since I will have spent over $2k just for off the shelf tunes from Unitronic by the time I’m stage 2.
If i may be honest, Dyno spectrum is at the top of my list. Thanks for the feedback bro!!!
So I'm trying to go stage 1 as soon as my deployments over... what does it cost to get to Stage 2??
DS1 ALL DAY!!!
I’ve personally went with apr, while they were having a sale on stage 1
I’ve been running it for over a year 15k+ miles with no issues
But you can’t go wrong with either! Both are killer companies. It’s all about preference
i realize I'm quite off topic but does anyone know a good place to watch new series online ?
@Fox Ayaan i watch on Flixzone. Just search on google for it :)
Hi! I am very interested in the Dyno Spectrum for the RS3 DAZA becasue of the Mapswitch to Ethanol. When switching is only possible with E85 or also with fuel mix (98ron and E40-50-60). It looks like little the same like MHD for the BMW´s
DS1 is true flex fuel.. meaning, if you plumb/wire in an ethanol content sensor, DS1 will read its signal and dynamically adjust fueling to accommodate whatever mixture you're running.
I want to try the Unitronic tune but I never see much about it
Good company, I’ve used them in the past but for the 4.0t DS1 is handing them their exiting papers.. that’s just my opinion 🤷🏾♂️
I’m new to this, how exactly do you go about installing this tune?
It pretty simple. But I can make a video on how to install
I thought that with the ARP mobile app and dongle you are able to switch between your tunes.
Unfortunately not my friend. Only the Dyno spectrum allows for that!
You would only be able to flash from stock to whatever tune you purchase
@@Daily5280 Incorrect.
APR allows changing from 91, 93, 100 etc octane using the indicator stalk on the column. No dongle required.
OBD2 dongle WiFi’s to your phone, PC, iPad for data logging
Take a gander at intergrated engineering.....not bad for the money, Just did my S6.....it's UGLY!!
Use SRM
So APR gives you better fuel economy?
Fuel economy is going to be up to your right foot…. Real talk!!😂
Brows vs Browse
have you looked into Integrated engineering?
I actually tried out the IE tune. It was an aggressive tune. Impressive power gains, but for what I wanted for my car.. the ability add other performance parts and have a tuner that will allow me to progress to other stages, the IE fell short. Also with that tune it will quickly Fatigue stock parts, and would not allow you to add up graded parts.
@@Daily5280 I know, I got it because I had not yet had my TTT800 and associated gear installed and there was assed to be kicked NOW. LOL. I have DS1 in the mail. But for the butt I kick in the interim, it was worth it
Is it ok if you get the stage 1 apr tune...how will it adjust to the transmission with the tcu
Yeah you should be fine to get the tcu tune with stage one. You will notice a slight difference with shifts and torque on that map. But it dramatically increases as you step up to stage two and eventually an E85 tune!
@@Daily5280 I just want the stage 1 tune no tcu tune
@@Daily5280 will the transmission be ok
@@traybutts4425 then yes you will be fine.
@@traybutts4425 yes the dsg transmission can withstand 700 wheel hp. But the longevity of the transmission is going to be dependent on your driving habits. The Apr tune claims 627tq which is about 200 foot pounds over stock, so you are putting added stress to the drive train . But this is nothing that will be catastrophic. To nut shell it….don’t go launching your car everyday
How do you think IE compares with the rest?
Honestly I would say that IE is a tad more of an aggressive tune compared to the Apr and the Unitronic, but when compared with the DS1 it’s Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, with IE being Hyde. The DS one will give you a nice horsepower bump overstock on stage one, coming in around 540 crank horsepower. Whereas the IE tune will give you 625 crank horsepower on stage one but that’s also including the full ethanol tune
The DS1 tune comes in very conservative but will allow for more of an aggressive tune with add-ons or supporting mods to allow you to fully dial in the tune. Whereas integrated engineering for all intents and purposes is a box tune that only allows the ability to toggle in between 91 and ethanol
@@Daily5280 I've got IE's stage one on my S6, and even just with 91, I noticed a good bump in power. I plan on going E85 in the next few months. I'm good with their tune, but it looks like if I ever start getting deep in the motor, I'll have to be going DS1. Thanks man.
@@thunderch1ck3en No problem at all!!
What are the cons of tuning?
None so far!! The DS1 has been fantastic!
@@Daily5280 did you do a TCU tune? I know DS1 doesn't offer it. Just wondering how it would do without a TCU tune.
@@pauljohnson4339 Paul I finally did go with a TCU tune through Integrated engineering, and it makes a world of difference. Quicker shifts, more torque lower in the rpm band! Down shifts keeps the shifts well within your power ban for better Acceleration! And over all it’s to keep our motor from over powering and killing the transmission!
There are tons of cons with tune. 1. More smiles. 2. Whooping other drivers. 3. Ability to impress your friends. 4. Sometimes better MPG.
Y’all sleeping on weistec
Their turbos are great but they don’t have a tune still the last time I checked. I emailed and called them for 6 months straight getting the same.. it’s coming soon talk before I went SRM RS7 +4mm turbos with a tune from a local shop
