Having started TM in '72, becoming a teacher in '73, attended MIU from '74-'78 and lived in Fairfield from ''83 to '90 I understand the TM Movement very well. For many it does function as a cult in that people completely bought into the vision of Maharsihi. Enlightenment in 5 to 8 years, an idea society with no more was or conflicts. It was a utopian ideal that was not realized even remotely. But there was a preternatural "energy" that radiated from Maharishi that was extraordinary. It was a beatific silence of bliss and fulfillment. A holy radiance of utter purity. It was incredible to be sweep into that energy and experience such profound holiness.

I agree with you about the Maharishi. Utopia is to be Enlightened in 5-8 years in the Kali Yuga and the cessation of wars. But the cessation of wars would be possible if there were permanent groups of TM Sidhi practitioners on several continents.

I Started TM in 1968 and got the Sidhis in 1978 I have been in Faurfield since 1977.
I would like to say that I had a very profound experience with Maharishi on a Midnight Boat Ride on Lake Lucerne in the Summer in Switzerland on an Advanced AEGTC and Extention.
As the captain motored the boat from the dock Maharishi told the Swiss Captain to go to the center of the Lake and then make big clockwise circles until further notified.
Maharishi and the men and women governors closed their eyes while Sam Ved Pandits
Chanted Sam Ved while our boat made big circles again and again. Time disappered, our boat silently circled round an around. Jai Guru Dev

Very nice movie. A good summary, yet we could go much deeper. I taught TM to inmates in Senegal jails, a government project. Huge results : recidivism dropped 85% !!! Yet the most amazing thing for me was the sudden joy prisoners experienced within, just after a few TM sessions, and their gratitude for what they received, for free. After that, it is each person responsability: practice or critisism... And I am still enjoying it.

Thank you Sebastian Lange you are an incredible film maker. I learned TM in 1972, I have practiced TM off and on (more on than off) for approximately 50 years. I still meditate and I think this is an amazing technique. My perspective is Maharishi was too optimistic. Maharishi himself said he thought it would take about 10 years, before he realised what a mess the world is in. I think the same applies to individuals. Granted the world and a lot of individuals (including myself) are a ways from enlightenment. That does not diminish the power of TM to be good for an individual and thru the individual, the world. Maharishi and the TM movement, by extension, are idealists by nature, in my humble opinion it’s just going to take longer. But, you have to start somewhere and TM is quite a start thanks to Maharishi. After practising TM all these years I can say I don’t know how I would have dealt with a stressful life without this daily respite. Knowing how involved David Lynch has always been with TM I have wondered why his art is so macabre, bizarre and negative. While watching this film it dawned on me David uses his art to draw people to TM, and perhaps highlight the negative so people can see its opposite. I don’t particularly like David’s art although I love him and he has given me a huge amount of inspiration.

It is so simple to grasp. We discovered that cleaning our bodies prevented disease. The discovery that deep transcendental meditation simply cleans the subconscious of toxic emotional shadows means we can recover from mental illnesses which we all carry more or less. Maharishi gave us this...but you don't have become a groupie just do it every day.

We love all these stories of holy men from golden ages, of sacred knowledge in golden books,
of a sacred tradition that gives us the confidence to be on the right path.
It is these stories that we love. At the same time, we generously overlook what makes us doubt.
We don't want to know how it really is, because that would destroy our beautiful dream that gives us so much hope.
And when someone claims to be His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi (a great seer),
we like to believe that we are not being led by a blind man.
But perhaps he wasn't as holy as some believe, and was more concerned with luring
as many people as possible into his meditation courses for a lot of money.
No one knows where all the movement's money went.
This much is certain, it was not spent on heating the monastery in Vloodrop.

There are hours and hours of videos about how TM is amazing. But no one video on how to actually do it. Why?

    • @pearlrachel1499
      @pearlrachel1499 11 месяцев назад +26

Why? By design. Because there is a process. And, TM is taught in person. You learn one-on-one from a trained TM teacher, but not until after you call & go to a TM center, complete the appropriate application, are accepted as a student, and complete a preparation procedure. Why? Because the desire and quest for opportunity to learn a simple, yet pure, meditation technique, in its wholeness, from a long and ancient line/tradition, are NOT superficial pursuits like playing a video game or buying concert tickets. You won't have to sit outside some rishi's cave for months on end enduring inclement weather like in the old days. However, it will cost you something. A bit of money, whether it's precious to you or not, and some time . . . which you definitely won't be wasting.
Others may answer your question differently depending upon their own life experiences and knowledge gained. This is just one answer, my answer. I learned TM in 1972, still meditate. If so inclined, learn to meditate from those you are drawn to most and who you trust. Only you can choose for you. Hope you find this helpful.

      @@Cheeks63091 Dear Cheeks63091,
I hope this email finds you well, healthy, and happy. We all have challenges to meet, lessons to learn, and joys to celebrate. Sorry it took me so long to respond.
It might be best not to use someone else’s opinions, life situation, wealth, poverty, or experiences as a deciding factor as to whether or not you should try TM, or learn to meditate at all. I think it best to follow your heart’s desire. Your heart’s desire alone, and no one else’s.
It is not my intention to convince anyone of anything. I thought if I shared some of my thoughts about TM, meditation, and spiritual development in general, that would be more helpful than trying to answer your questions directly, or to specifically promote TM. I found practicing TM to be a wonderfully positive activity & influence in my life. Then and now. But, to answer your questions: “How is your life ? are you healthy, happy, rich, poor, what is your state that you found that TM helped in ?” only in the light of TM, would not be a fair. I’m 77 years old, and along with TM meditating, have found many wonderful spiritual influences in my life beside friends, teachers, and co-workers. Neville Goddard, Louise Hay, Eckhart Tolle, and Wayne Dyer, top my list, to name a few. Listening to their talks were paramount in getting me through some of the toughest times. I still listen to them, and still find them most uplifting. There’s never just one thing. One quick fix. You have to find who and what ‘speaks’ to you. There is not one path for everyone. And most importantly, everything and anything you do find helpful on the outside (outside of yourself) should merely lead you back to look inward. Meditation is a technique, one of many, to help one look inward. In my humble opinion, there is nothing closer to God, or the answers you seek, than what is within you, in your own heart, mind, and imagination.

My journey was/is my journey. Your journey is yours.
More of my journey…I deeply wanted to learn how to meditate when I first heard about it, in my mid 20’s. That was my heart’s desire. And although my intellectual understanding of what the word, meditation, meant was limited, I knew it was the right thing for me and what I wanted to do. Ignorant as I was…I was going to learn how to meditate, come hell or high water; and from someone I felt was qualified at the time-from a tradition that preserved the knowledge pure and whole over centuries, or eons of time. From an age-old ‘tradition.’
I was always spiritual, since childhood. Later when I heard about meditation and techniques from the East, I wanted to learn how to meditate from an ‘authentic teacher/guru’ from India. I was very drawn to Paramahansa Yogananda, but wanted to learn from a living teacher. I was so excited when the opportunity arose in 1972 to learn TM as taught by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi (MMY). I was newly married, and 25 years old at the time. My husband and I were both initiated on the same day, but in separate ceremonies. Each person learns the TM technique individually, one-on-one, from a TM teacher trained to impart the meditation technique in its fullness and subtleties to another.
Yes, I feel that learning and practicing TM has subtly enhanced my life in every aspect. Health-wise when I was younger, I feel meditating helped me overcome panic attacks, nervousness; to stop smoking, and with a number of other things.
I am thankful and grateful for the many wonderful people, opportunities, amenities, gifts, and blessings I have in my simple life. Things that many others on the planet struggle to secure. I am poor in that many of my family and friends have passed away, and I miss them-and the opportunities and comforts they brought. I am rich in the beauty of sunrises following the darkness of nights, and in peach-colored sunsets; in the joyful singing of small songbirds just outside my doorway, and I am rich in friends who call to check in on me, and to help me when I need it. And I am blessed with opportunities to help others, if and when I am able.
      - I think TM is a wonderful tool/technique that could, and most likely would, contribute to anyone’s better health-spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically. I think it’s one of the best meditation techniques widely available to Westerners. I feel privileged and very fortunate that I had the opportunity and funds to get initiated into the practice of TM back in 1972. And to attend the TM Movement’s ‘1st World Peace Assembly,’ a 40-Day Course at UMASS during the summer of 1979. Fortunate, indeed.
      - Do I think TM is the ONLY valuable meditation technique out there, no. There are others, like Mindfulness. You’ll have to do your own research.
      - I think the cost of TM is steep these days-if that would be a hardship for you, try contacting a TM center to see if something could be worked out. If not, research other options to learn how to meditate. Ask, seek and you will find.
      - If you are drawn to TM, then, that’s probably what you should do. If that can happen easily, without financial hardship. Otherwise, you will find something else that will be right for you. Only you will know what is right for you.
I sincerely hope you will find some of this information helpful. All the best to you.

Because you have to find out for yourself. Correct me if I'm wrong everyone but I think it's the opposite of doing. The mind is terrified of stopping whatever thing it's occupied with but when you really succeed it brings a new clarity to your surroundings and you can feel true peace and at the same time energized because all energy that was locked in your body to keep a certain view of yourself/reality is now starting to free itself so that it can be of more use to you. A very beautiful video work of art about a unique man who became a leader of a kind of celebrity cult organization. I learned TM in 1970 and have been meditating my whole life in many forms - from TM, to Zen (weekend retreats,) martial arts (I am a sensei in 3 different arts,) Yoga, etc. I think TM does work and is certainly more accessible than some forms, but I find the organization to be a cult for the wealthy. The TM course cost $30 in 1970, and now it's like $1,000 and then all of these ancillary courses costing thousands are stacked on top the grift (levitation, flying? Really? Show us...) There is no reason why someone who learned this rather simple form of meditation should not be able to teach it to someone else, but outside teaching is forbidden. In this way, it seems to be cult like, similar to Scientology, or at least it's a giant corporate entity rather than a simple form of relaxation; a simpler way to "transcendence" like the many other forms I learned for free.

I became disillusioned after he had berated me once too often and I decided, enlightened or not, he was not someone I wanted anything to do with any longer. I have since accepted Jesus and, after initially being attacked by Demons for leaving yoga, I have experienced a joy that yoga never gave me, not even in my deepest meditative experiences.

Maharishi was a Kashatrya, not a Brahmin. Kishatryas are cremated. Some say Kashatrya is the higher caste. He was called a Maha Rishi by the saints in India. The hierarchy goes like this -- guru, avatar, sidha, rishi, and maha-rishi or "Great Rishi". An avatar incarnates once every 11,000 years or so to help the world. A Maha Rishi incarnates once in the lifespan of a universe (371 trillion years) to save a planet from total destruction. Maharishi was the first to spread the lost knowledge of TM and the TM-Sidhis to the whole world, then to create a group of pandits large enough to chant the World Peace Yagya eternally which is easing the transition from our dark age of Kaliyug to a. mini-Sattyug of 10,000 years, an age of perfection. As world purity rises from the chanting and meditators, it stirs up the darkness, temporarily creating the chaos we see on Earth right now beginning with the collapse of governments and economies and the threat of nuclear annihilation. Maharishi said the chaos will end sometime between 2023 and 2025, then comes permanent world peace in the new age of Sattyug. The world transition brings attacks on the highest knowledge from the world's ignorant. The dark forces are trying to stop the coming of the Golden Age. But Maharishi always said," Never worry about the world situation. Just keep meditating and wait for Sattyug." Thank you, Maharishi.

There are several stages of flying described in Patanjali's Yog Sutram. The first is sweating, then shaking, making noises, then hopping "like a frog". With extended practice one hovers for a second, then for longer periods, then moves through the air. In our dark age of Kalliyug, it's difficult to hover in the air. a team of male ghmnasts were invited to try hopping for half an hour with the sidhas, and they couldn't do it. They all collapsed from fatigue while the sidhas kept hopping. The gymnastsall said, "I don't know what it is, but there's someting going on there. The TM-Sidhis create great energy and great bliss. what gets me is that they teach TM to inmates FREE … it’s great that they learn it ; but the rest of us (in Australia anyway) have to fork out $1500 AUD 🇦🇺 . I understand maybe $300; but $1500 is too rich for me.

Whoever made that film doesn't understand the Maharishi or the purpose he had in the world. He gave his best to the world...and inspired people. Many benefit and that is enough. He sowed a seed that is enjoyed by many individuals and Enlightenment is not something that comes overnight...and it will happen sooner or later, in this life or the next.
The Age of Enlightenment is coming, it is destined because the small kali yuga is ending and the Maharishi played a good role for many.
World peace could be subverted if permanent 7000 groups of TM Sidhi practitioners were created. Not a single Teacher changed the world because people didn't listen to him.

As world purity rises from the chanting of the 150,000 pandits Maharishi created and from the millions of meditators he created, it stirs up the darkness, temporarily creating the chaos and danger we see on Earth right now beginning with the collapse of unworkable man-made governments and the fall of economies and the threat of nuclear annihilation. Maharishi was called a Maha Rishi by the saints in India.

Jesus didn't multiply himself by creating teachers of a technique that would bring enlightenment to them and to the whole world. Maharishi did. We are witnessing his promises of a golden age come true with our present pralaya, the chaos that arises during the Earth's shift from darkness to light just before Heaven descends to Earth.

    • @rickved
      @rickved Год назад +6

This is false. Maharishi's organization is a non-profit education organization audited twice a year by the IRS. As such, the IRS records are available for the public to read. Maharishi's technique is the only meditation technique to have a large body of scientific research validating its many benefits on the mind, physiology, social relationships, and the occasional large group effects on world events. All these effects are validated with over 600 published in peer-review scientific journals. No other meditation program has this great body of published research. Maharishi didn't need money for himself. Those who appreciated the knowledge he gave them took care of his. needs. He never owned a Ferrari like some; he never owned a motorcycle, like another "guru" does. Every moment of his short time on Earth was spent trying to help the world.
