Also, both Baylor and UTSA won their Conference Football Championships. Yay to the both of us.
What’s crazy is that Memphis has a graduation rate less than 50 percent but is considered Tier 1. UTSA’s graduation rate is 37 percent which is atrocious. I know Tier 1 is based on research but graduation rates should factor into. This is why the AAU is way more important and worth more. I’m sure all of the AAU schools have a graduation rate higher than 50 percent.
We are proud of you. All current B12 schools (except) TCU are now R1. 3 of the 4 B12 adds are, also (BYU is not). Memphis only escaped the grasp of the State Board of Regents a few years ago. Things have been improving quickly since getting their own BoR.

Yeah, having nationally ranked universities, R1 schools, and AAU members should result in tens of billions for Big12 members. That is, if the conference votes to integrate their libraries, research, faculty training/hiring programs, and implements a preferential grad admissions program for Big12 undergrads students (similar to the B1G and PAC). Then, the academics of the Big 12 would matter alot more.
Utah State and BYU are actually rivals. It’s not on the level of the Holy War with Utah but it’s still a bitter rival. The Battle for the Wagon Wheel is a lesser known rivalry game trophy
Tv markets is the main thing keeping USU out right now. We also need to have a few more great seasons like this year (which will subsequently help the tv revenue) to prove consistency, but if those boxes get checked, I could see an invite from the PAC-12 or Big 12 coming Either of those conferences would be great with natural rivalries. Revive the battle of the brothers rivalry with Utah or keep up the battle of the wagon wheel with BYU

Houston Got R1 back in 2011 when UT and TAMU were the only R1 schools in the state of Texas. It's not that shocking when you consider UH's connections to the Texas Medical Center (One of the best medical complexes in the world) being located in Houston , along with all the other research affiliates the schools has being in a global city. It may not be a football powerhouse, but its right up there in producing and attracting global research. UH is ranked between 201-300 in ARWU, while Balyor is between 601-700.
Idk about that anymore. Utah state a great basketball school and are catching up on football too. Plus utah has such a bigger poll of recruits than idaho
So now with Texas Tech, Houston and Baylor are all R1 that can provide some new intrigue for the PAC-12 as they don’t only take AAU schools. Could be bad news for the Big-12.
@@jesses5463 You might want to do some research about USC. They were operated by and affiliated with the Methodist church up until the 60’s. None of those schools are a good fit geographically or politically.
