I was #3 in this video. (Caught all 3 off 1 incense). I used the masterball on the moltres because it was an XXL, then the articuno came out and I was like “i might as well use my other masterball and then hope the Zapdos comes out. And luckily it was the next spawn and luckily caught it.
That's astounding! Not just 3 Galarian Birdies, which I've never seen, but catching all 3, even though technically only one was "skill."

@@sharkatac9 That's what I'm saying. Mystic noticed it a little, but it's got to be astronomical odds in isolation. It happens, but you could play it for decades under the current odds, for it to happen again. The best I've had, was a wild unown literally one day in my kitchen!

The two I've had thus far went towards Galarian birds with OK IVs. Articuno and Zapdos. Very tempted to use the eventual third one on a Weezing, just because it's my favorite Pokémon.

I used my master ball during the Halloween event to catch a Galarian Moltres, which was the only one I needed for the trio. I'm curious about how many other people have caught all 3 Galarian birds!

I haven’t used my second master all yet because the moltres I caught with the first one was so bad. Now I’m terrified to try again since Zorua can be pretending to be a Galar bird. That’s so sick!
Just make sure you don’t have a Galar bird set as your buddy and that should eliminate the worry of Zorua popping up when you encounter one. Zorua only copies your buddy Pokémon

Incorrect. This only applies to raids. You can still be an idiot an lose a wild shiny legendary, if they could even appear. Wild legendaries currently are shiny locked.

For the shiny Noibat that ended up being a Zorua... what the heck man? The Pokemon would have appeared shiny in the overworld! Obvious tell that it was not an actual shiny, even before clicking on it.
I have had zorua transform into a super rare Pokémon that was NOT my buddy at the time, that’s what’s scary.
Got to admit some of those massive respect for using their Masterball, I've still got both of mine 😅, maybe one I'll use them

For the people who accidentally caught a zoura, a zorua transform into your buddy pokemon and there’s ways to know that a pokemon is a zorua like say a shadow pokemon spawned in the wild it’s a zorua
If it's shiny before you click it, its a zorua.

id already caught moltres and articuno with ultra balls so about 2 days after getting my first master ball and seeing a zapdos i was 100% using it to have all 3 galarian birds
I managed to get both Galarian Moltres and Articuno with the Ultra Balls, and when the FIRST spawn of my daily incense was a Zapdos i used it. IV's were crap, but now i have them all. ^^ And my second Master Ball is still not used.

As someone who started in January 2024 super jelly of those awesome masterball catches.
My 3 year old daughter had my phone on froakie comm day and caught a random froakie with it when I wasn’t paying attention. The ivs weren’t good and I was trying to conserve space so I transferred it. Then was confused like a week later to see the masterball gone. 😅
Zoruas are the reason I always have my Shiny Kyogre as my buddy

Did you know you can make an Eevee a ghost type by using a special kind of stone called a brick?
Theres a more effective way that can get you 1 of 2 types. Just drop it off a cliff, if it flys its a flying type!!1 If it doesn't its a ghost type. Much better
i had to use my first one on a shiny Exeggutor (the one with the long neck) and i was carpooling at the time so for the chance of it not running away while we were in a vehicle, driving.

I got an articuno with a great ball. I was new and didn’t know that it was rare until someone told me
i caught my galarian moltres before i got the master ball, and i hadn't done a raid in a while so i was out of golden razz berries. i caught it on an ultra ball and a razz berry.
Buddy functionality idea / introduction of “bottle caps”:
What if for a certain amount of Km walked with a buddy, the buddied Pokémon were to find a bottle cap where, when applied, would increase or decrease the buddy’s IVs by 1.
For this idea, let’s say the Km needed to “find a bottle cap” were based on the rarity of the Pokémon and would multiply by 1.2x each IV gained.
For example, based on the eggs the Pokémon hatch from, or the level raid needed for the reward encounter, would determine if you needed 20 (tier1), 30 (tier3), 40 (tier4) or 50Km (tier5) walked for a single IV change. If a trainer had a 10/15/15 IV Charmander, they would need to walk 148.832km (round to 149) with the buddy Pokémon to get to 100% IVs. If a trainer had a 10/15/15 IV Gible, they would need to walk 297.664km (round to 298) with the buddy Pokémon to get to 100% IVs. If a trainer had a 10/15/15 IV Mewtwo, they would need to walk 446.496km (round to 447) with the buddy Pokémon to get to 100% IVs. The same math would be applied to reduce IVs for PVP Pokemon.
In addition to finding bottle caps with your buddy walking, perhaps they could be found in other activities by your buddy. Such as spinning stops/ raids/ gym battling / etc. This would also be EXTREMELY rare.
To avoid problems with caught 100%s, the stat changes could be visibly different than normal stats with the following:
* a notation on the Pokémon screen
* different colored IVs showing a bottle cap was applied
* the CP of these bottle capped Pokémon would be -1 of actual 100%s or PVP IVed caught Pokémon
* the 100% bottle capped would not be searchable with 4* but would have a search just for “bottle capped.”
Pros:
- This would make spoofing or radar services less profitable and encourages more gameplay with the same Pokémon.
- Entices player to “bond” with a single Pokémon for longer and therefore play the game more often to get the coveted 100% dex.
- Allows all types of players to get 100%s while also not flooding the player base with actual 100%s.
Cons:
- All players would have access to the best Pokémon if they walk enough
- The need to catch all Pokémon would be reduced slightly
If you can think of any other pros/cons, reply to this comment so we can share our thoughts about the idea and maybe someone at Niantic will pick it up! Ideas welcomed and I’ll update the post accordingly.

I got the 100% iv shadow Mewtwo and I should have used my master ball on it, I instead used it on a Galarian Articuno a few weeks later.
i hope they do 1 per season. if they do im using my next one on a galarian moltres or one of the lake trio if i run into one and run out of pokeballs while trying to catch it cause fun fact the lake trio have a 1% catch rate but 0% flee rate. but yeah probably galarian moltres

I’ve been stacking my black rocket radars specifically for the day rayquaza is a shadow, and hopefully shiny. When that day comes and I find that shadow shiny I will be using the master ball

Used my unused master ball from last season on my last ball on a 96% shadow Lugia which I promptly purified into a hundo for the master league. Still have one master ball left :)

Haven't used either of my masters yet but my first encounter of the fashion week wooper was coloured and I caught it so. If Cosmog ever comes to a raid and it is max IV if I get down to the last ball I will use one as my first one was max IV so to complete a legendary set.

Legendary birds are so elusive, I stumbled with then twice or thrice, but they always run away and I did excellent throws twice. Then I didn't see one for months, even capturing 25 ~28 mons with my daily incenses. I will keep grinding for these birds, but I'm afraid that when I find them again I will use one of my master balls, because I'm looking for this catch since I've came back to the game.
My last encounter was with an Articuno and I had the mb, but I choose war and the bird flew away...

Used mine for a Cresselia the IVs were good but the moves WERE NOT including the tm moves. A day after I saw a galarian zapdos and I was master ball less
I wish I saved mine to catch a a shadow mewtwo. I got lucky and won a local raid with it but stubborn thing wouldn’t get caught :( you could only fight it through local raids as well

A lol moment: I used my daily incense and a galarian zapdos spawned. I knew that zapdos was a legendary Pokémon but I threw a NORMAL POKEBALL WITH NO BERRY but guess what? I got it with a critical catch
Got a Galarian Articuno yesterday during the incense, weather boosted with ???. Just got the master ball a few days before so used it. Turned out to be a 3 star 3266CP! 😀
First Catch of my master ball was a 100 percent Shadow Moltres out of a raid used all my regular premium balls but of course it popped oit everytime so I had to use the master ball sadly
I am a level 46 in pokemon go right now and I still remember getting my master ball at level 26 (the may one) and back then my fav legendary was the galarin moltres and one day when I was walking home I had my incense on (mind you I was level 31) and at the last 10 seconds a moltres had spawned right next to a pokestop so when I tried to click it I clicked the pokestop and almost died, but once I got into the catching screen I instantly used my masterball and to this day my moltres is still my fav legendary.

The other day my 4 year old used my saved-up Masterball on a random Trasla (Ralts?) - and I didn't even get to see the animation because I was distracted. I cried internally, but would never blame her, giving a young child unsupervised access to a game is on me... but still 😭
