Good to see that Garg also has a face that does not grin all the time. What he’s trying to explain is that there was a security number (that made the bond genuine) which was not visible to the natural eye and therefore the said number was not to be recorded. On the other hand, as a Bank, SBI had to have some number to keep as a record. So the Bank is not to be blamed.
How on earth did Mr. Garg & the government think such huge transactions could be done without any audit trail...crores would exchange hands between buyer, SBI & redeemer, without any documentation of such huge monetary transactions!! 22:18
Mr Garg is absolutely UNAWARE of the banking purpose of the alphanumeric code, which is visible under UV lamp only. Purchaser of the bond and its beneficiary can't see. It was for security purpose so as to ensure that no fake bonds are encashed. The issuing bank of the electoral bonds kept it on its record and later its encashment branch too did the same. And this was to verify it when the l balancing respective entries. After all how can the auditors check which electoral bonds was issued and which one was encashed ? And the most important question, why should these private companies are shy of having purchased Electoral bonds ? Can't Mr Garg see what exactly preceded every purchase of the electoral bonds , or the sequence of events subsequently ? Can't he see very apparent "quid pro qo" or instances of "intimidation and extortation" ? My apology to you Mr Garg your statement accusing SBI of being unlawful in its action, reveal you are hiding something. You need to be more frank and open.

Who was this guy Garg. He was just playing with semantics. If something is not visible doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. If something is on the or in the bond, it becomes a part of bond, doesn’t matter visible or not.
And what is this rubbish argument that it was a security feature and not identification number. Security feature can be anything which is same on all bonds, like a silver strip on Indian currency note, if something is very unique for each bond, it becomes an unique identification number.

I think the alpha numeric code, is not unique, it's the series no must be repeated like we have same No on bonds issued on 1 date or one tranch...then all of this make sense it's just Garg is not making it open on this channel and playing safe...he is very smart guy
An attempt is made to make SBI the bad guy. Fact of the matter is, the central govt wanted SBI to track every single bond - the donor and the receiver. The govt wanted this information, so that they could target companies that were funding opposition parties with ED, CBI, IT etc.
Then why did the govt track BJPs details as well? They could have asked the SBI to only keep account of other parties details, no?
Are you for real? SBI introduces a number into it so that they can track all transactions. The only other entity that can see it is the Central Govt, which owns the SBI. The govt gets all transactions tracked from SBI, then targets companies that donated to opposition parties. This disgusting govt can go to any length.@@vajrapaniom7410
The co-founder of ADR and Barkha Dutt appear to lack logical reasoning. The former finance minister’s competency is questionable, especially considering his past role as finance secretary. It’s perplexing that he continues to feature prominently on this show, seemingly seeking the limelight. Regarding the system for tracking bonds, each bond should have a unique primary key for internal storage and audit trail purposes. It’s surprising that such a straightforward explanation eludes those who persistently search for issues based on their confirmation biases. Unfortunately, these trivial matters often arise.
If a security feature is also used as an identifier, what's the problem. This is just bullshitting by Mr Garg.

The discussion is pretty idiotic. The guys are either trying to confuse or have no clue about the basics.
The first question is that whether there was a number, either fully numeric (e.g. 5456789) or alphanumeric (e.g., AX65789). Either way it just ... doesn't matter. The number could also be used for security purposes as claimed by one gentleman, however it also ...... does not matter. The only question that is relevant is that whether the number is "unique" . In simple terms it means that each bond has a number that is not repeated in any other bond. Then the bond has a unique number or a unique ID (called UID in tech lingo). If such number is recorded in any database or in an excel sheet, or in a handwritten notebook, against each buyer (e.g., D company bought 3 bonds, #1342, #5682 and #6586) and against each encashing party ( party A, encashed #6586 and #5682; party B ... #1342), then a small sql query (by a school boy) would generate report showing who paid how much to whom in less than 3 seconds literally.
