- People love dinosaurs-some a little too much-and our dinomania has always been reflected on the big screen. As this video of their evolution demonstrates, movie dinosaurs have come in many forms over the past hundred years, created by puppetry, stop motion, animatronics, and CGI.
The original 1993 Jurassic Park was considered a game changer for the way it employed special effects to create the enormous creatures, but its use of CGI pales in comparison to that of its latest successor, Jurassic World. Still, if you think Jurassic Park has aged, consider that One Million B.C. was nominated for an Oscar in 1940 for its visual effects, which included an alligator with a fin on its back and a pig in a triceratops suit.

I actually missed the stop motion Dino's just their unnatural movement's and 20frames per second always gave them that fear factor

Notice the quality difference between Jurassic Park and Carnosaur (who were made in the same year).
Different budgets. Some of the early stop motion shots for JP looked rather crappy compared to Carnosaur's decent-to-mediocre animatronics.

The way the tail moves on the T Rex in the original King Kong still looks awesome, so fluid for stop motion.

in most of the history of dinosaurs movies they don't add Fantasia and The Land Before Time.
"Dinosaur Island" used the same T-Rex prop as "Carnosaur" a year before.

Edit: what I meant was the over all body structure of the dinosaurs were right.. they were horizontal and also there skull structure was more accurate unlike the older flat head from previous movies

Xenotaris That's a stupid excuse. The point of the Jurassic Park films, was to portray dinosaurs, as accurately as possible.
Back in 1993, most of the dinosaurs were pretty accurate, for what we knew back then.
Jurassic World instead, broke the purpose and relied on pure nostalgia factor, and so the dinosaurs are stuck in the 90s.
The "Oh, but they were genetically engineered to look different", was a stupid excuse and a way of saying "We're too fucking lazy, and don't want to piss of the fat fucks, living in their mother's basements".

T. rex had two fingers. No third finger was ever discovered on a Tyrannosaurus rex.

I know what you mean, I was a great fan of stop motion animation (and still I am) but I learned that animatronics and CGI have behind the same hard work to be made.
There isn't a better form of animation, but only different style.
