Wow!!! This is exactly how I remember Saturday Morning cartoons were. I was 10 in 1980, and love how you picked what shows you exactly would have seen…the now lesser known programs such as Dingbat and Drak Pack, played alongside Tom & Jerry and Plasticman. All finishing the day with Scruffy on the ABC WEEKEND SPECIALS! I remember when that first aired…ABC promoted Scruffy beforehand and played it as a continuation over three weekends. Nice to see you ran it fully here with the old ABCWS intro and end title. We all watched it…everybody loved it despite it being a bit dark. Coincidentally, NBC aired “Old Yeller” on the Wonderful World of Disney over the same weekends ABC ran “Scruffy” back in 1980. How’s that for a double whammy!!!
Funnily enough, Mel also went on to voice Heathcliff in the Heathcliff and the Cadillac Cats Show. Heathcliff was one of the last original voices for him before his passing.

Can't believe it's been 40+ years since these cartoons were on the air. As far as the Heathcliff cartoons, how about the ones with Marmaduke? Those aren't available on DVD but are a bit hard to find on this forum.
The animated cartoons made by H in this video that originally aired on ABC & CBS are: “Nautical Noodnicks”, “Gold Digger Daze”, “Bungling Baby Sitters” & “Hives”
Man, it is a trip revisiting this era of TV. I remember watching most of these, but so much of it is so weak sauce, it slipped away from my memory. It's like the nutritional value of a Twinkie.
I enjoyed watching the scruffy cartoon, I got teary eyed when it showed the dogs being sent to a dog pound, I'm glad it ended happy, but that just comes to show that if people wants to have a dog or cat, the best place to get them is the city pound, Don't buy a pet, adopt a pet.And don't blame the city pound for putting the animals to sleep because it's not a city problem it's a community problem, if people don't want their dogs to cats to be roaming the streets have them spayed or neutered that way it prevents unwanted litters.Be a responsible owner. Because that's what I did to my cat.
Idea: there might be a few cartoons that feature music that won’t get you copyright strike like the Jackson 5 cartoon etc. can you see if you can get away with it and do like cartoons with music.
You are a lifesaver! When I can’t fall asleep I turn on your cartoon list and I’m out. I also find I sleep for a solid 6-7 hours. Thank You!!!!!
Happy to help!
So I've always remembered Heathcliff and the cattilac cats, but Dingbat set off new nostalgia, thanks again man.
When Heathcliff was a solo show it had a cool theme song
I totally forgot Dingbat as well. For whatever reason classic monsters were big in the early 80s. Drak Pak, Frankenstones, Fang Face,......

Stay Tuned Now For American Bandstand with host Dick Clark, Next On ABC!
Kick Axe !
Scruffy was sad.... 😢
Ok, that music in Tom and Jerry is creepy and ominous. I remember hating this show as a kid due to the repetitive music. Really pay attention to it.
lol nostalgic
Yaaaa
