Trailer rebuild and BIG news, Maybe

- Been awhile since my last upload. But vacation is over. I need a better trailer so I am converting a 5th wheel to a bumper trailer. This is for hauling my tractor, but it will also be for retrieving logs because I may be getting a circle saw mill. Won't that be a fun bunch of videos?

Gotta love an old sawmill!
I wouldn’t mind watching a video of a project gone wrong. Sometimes that’s interesting too. 🙂
Awesome news. I know how projects go as well. Lol not all are home runs.
Well it's good to see you're back good video
I think id just change that 5th wheel to a goosneck hitch. mine has just a removable ball that pops out of the bed. good luck!! my brakes get power from truck, you need to get a brake controller if you dont have one
My truck has the brake controller already. The battery on the trailer turns out is if you want break-away safety brakes. So I may add that feature. Found a wiring kit that has the break-away switch in it just have to add my own battery.
@@DIYwithUncleCy Ya my trailers had those breakaway batterys too but I never used em, they always need charging. Good luck with your build!!!
if trailer has self contained battery wired into brakes that means it has a breakaway system local laws will tell by what Gross weight you are required by law to have a breakaway braking system and other required thing for that given weight.
Wow. I have never see a trailer for a pickup that was 5th wheel unless it was a camper. My SIL converted his 42' camper to gooseneck so he could pull it with his Deweze bed. I did get a bumper pull camper so that my bed would be open to haul a generator and propane fuel tanks. B&W makes a hitch that they call the Stow and Go or something similar that has an adjustable ball height and you can flip the ball around so that you don't smack your shin on it. They are only about $280 for a 2 5/16 and 2" ball. After seeing other people's wrecks with trailers, I will not use anything other than a B&W ball. Especially with a gooseneck hitch.I don't want a hitch coming through the cab.
Please rewire the brakes on the trailer. Those connectors are very unreliable ans I'd hate to see you have a brake problem on the road. Everything properly soldered and heat shrinked will be a good investment for safety.
Thanks for the advice. I did wonder about that.
