Tip: you do not need to hold freight trains until their "passing" time. That is basically a due date and you can route them through any time before that.
@@bas5430 What I meant was that they pay out a larger percentage of their contract value if you get them through sooner, rather than having them wait until their "due" time
Thanks Squirrel. You're one of the few gamers that explain and show things in a watchable and comprehensible fashion. Plus, BBC should contact you to do voice-overs or live interviews. You have a soothing voice and just the right intonation and timbre to stay attached to as a listener. Greetings from Belgium.
Small note, these stations aren't new cities, every station on this map are in glasgow itself or the greater glasgow area. Queen street for example is practically round the corner from glasgow central. However the layout/map is definitely not geographically accurate
I really like watching these videos at the point l'm at in the game so as not to add spoilers to my experience. I learned a lot of techniques I never thought of. Great series so far.
Loving the series Squirrel. I'm playing this same map as well. However, rather than expanding to new stations I have been concentrating in the starting 3 stations and building up to the auomation (sensors) that I think you will be going through next episode. That way I was able to get that area fully automated before expanding outwards. The biggest advantage of that is that it avoids the manic stage having to juggle multiple areas, I can concentrate on the new area and the original schedules just take care of themselves. Much more relaxing :-D
You got me hooked on this game from your first video, thanks for that. I’m like 30 hours in, and I cannot stress enough how important it is to press hard for automation before expansion. Otherwise you’re chasing chickens. Seriously, go all in in automation with your first 2-4 station network and then expand. Good luck!
Literally after the first video, I downloaded this game off steam, and can't wait for another video, so I can compare what you've done to what I've completed. Great work, can't wait for the next!!
Do you get penalised if those freight trains are let out early? Cos they tend to just camp a station for AGES. Perhaps a holding line above the Cumbernauld-Easterhouse could work, if it'll fit. 33:58 Ah yeah, that side makes more sense.
Its hard to work out if you ignore the comments from previous clips with regards to the timings for the freight trains, or if you released this clip before you had an opportunity to see the comments. I hope it is the latter.
I'm very, very new to this game and I am here to learn as I move through a very steep learning curve. But I'm pretty sure that the outcome of he New Contract Trial is not fixed and the outcome will improv if the performance is improved. That is, at the 52:29 mark, even though the trial result was poor, the reasons are known and it is also known that it can be easily improved upon once the human error is eliminated. Therefore I would have accepted the contract. Please feel free, anyone, to correct me if my understanding is incorrect as I would rather be corrected now than continue to make errors if I am wrong.
Great video. I'm thinking about buying the game. If you think that's nuts, some of the simsig maps are insane to do. I could see you doing virtual ATC next.
You need to read your comments Squirrel. You do not need to hold freight trains until the time they need to pass. The time they need to pass is a due time. They can pass at any time before that.
I do have a question: why are you making these UK trains travel on the right-hand rails, like it’s the US? In the UK trains usually use the left-hand rail. I’m on a train as I type this, it’s whole journey is on the left rails. Just curious. Cheers.
I’m sorry, but this episode is far from perfection, at least gameplay wise. Squirrel is way to distracted. Too many things going on at the same time, and while explaining he lets the game time running so is missing due times and stuff…
I think you're messing things up, because you try and work at too many sites simultaneously. I can only recommend you first automate one site as widespanning as possible, before you consider spreading any further. Oh, and one more thing you might put into consideration, when it comes to Intercities. They have a locomotive at only one end, just like the freighters, and if they are forced to drive backwards they have a speedlimit of only 30 kph. So if you have an Intercity-contract from one station to annother and back again, you better find a way to turn the train around so that the locomotive always stays up front of the train. Otherwise you will never get a good payment out of the contract, because the average speed is just too slow. One way of doing that, would be to build some kind of loop or turning bay, which works best, once you can use tunnels. By the way this is also very important when it comes to coachyards. When you accept an Intercity-contract out of a coachyard make sure the locomotive will point in the right direction. On your contract trial there is a button looking somewhat like this ">>", when it comes to accepting the train out of the coachyard. When you press that button you can choose if the Intercity will exit the coachyard with the locomotive up front or reversed.
Uff.... so many signal stops for no reason... especially the last 15 minutes were just painful to watch 😅 I really appreciate the effort, but you're trying to focus on too many things at once 🤷♂️
Tip: you do not need to hold freight trains until their "passing" time. That is basically a due date and you can route them through any time before that.
Better yet, if you route them through earlier I think they actually pay out more.
@@paulgiddy57 they won’t, they’ll only give the max reward that’s stated in the contract.
@@bas5430 What I meant was that they pay out a larger percentage of their contract value if you get them through sooner, rather than having them wait until their "due" time
You reaaaallly stressed me out with that freight train that needed to pass at 13.54
Poor freight train that was supposed to pass at 13.54 :c "let's keep an eye on that" 🤣
Squirrel a tip, you don't have to wait until the freight train due time just send it off when it's ready
you don't need to hold the freight till the pass time you can let them go once immediately

44:01 Hey Squirrel, you left a piece of track just after Stepps which is doing 40kmph till the branching.

The anxiety of seeing squirrel not pause the game and miss a bunch of things makes me not want to watch it anymore. Freaking pause the game!
44:04 you couldve used a small area which didnt need the 'tunnel' thing. Theres a small gap in the line you couldve used and saved money
Hey man,u can send out freight trains right after they are done,u don t need to wait.Waiting will give u less money
I don’t really have a clue what’s going on through a lot of this. But the music with squirrels voice makes it an absolute joy.

Awesome squirrel, one of the best out there. A series on railroads online is much needed from you.

Same here! Such a fun little game.
"we let the comuter go first" - and make lot of freight guys swear really hard :D

You really should pause the game if you are going to explain, show or build something, it's there for a reason
This would spin my head
For the love of God PLEASE let the one time freights go as soon as they move to the signals.
When you colour coded the stations... it also colour codes the trains with the next station with white meaning de-spawn
The music is great in this one!
28:47 those two trains wouldn't have needed to interfere with each other at all, if you just switched the tracks.
I got this game because of you squirrel, pretty fun.

I am very torn watching this. The game seems awesome but your tendency to forget about trains for ages is painful!
You playing it really well! Nice to watch 👍.
you really went bonkers in last 10' but managed it all well 👏

i dunno about this one buddy. i'm surprised they don't make you get 5 greens before you can even play the game.
I bought the game watching you. You may charge your commission from the developers or steam, now! =D
Great videos squirrel can I ask will you ever bring back my summer car
who else was waiting on when sq notices the missing track on route to queens?
Faaaaaakkking perfection:) thank u squiwel
