Cigars Daily is in Arizona, the shop has better quality cigars at 68% humidity. 70 to 72% made the cigar lose pleasant notes/taste. What's your reccomendation for weather in the North Texas area? I'm thinking 68% or 69%. What about temperature? I do think darkness and 70°F is probably right. So a 68/70 rule in the humidor.
This channel shows why technology is great: it shows how one knowledgeable man sitting in a chair can beat an entire editorial board and writing staff of a cigar magazine.
For my tupperdors, because no humidity is lost, due to the airtight seal, I find that 65% humidity level Boveda packs work best. Anything higher than this level helps create occasional mold blooms. A wooden humidor can tolerate higher humidity levels, because of the lack of an airtight seal.
In wet western WA state I use 69% boveda packs in wood humidors and it ends up around 65-67% depending on how often I open them up. Seems to work well.
Yes! There is no single answer to RH. When I was back home in NYC I kept sticks around 70, se when I was in Memphis. But down in Florida I found it to be too high and caused constant burn issues (I mostly smoke Nicaraguans), so I dropped it to between 62-65 and it's been perfect. I use New Air units and Boveda packs and I've had the same packs in for about a year or more and they're still like new and sits steady at 65 👍
What temp do you keep your New Air?... I have 2 units I have mine at 63/63I notice when people talk about humidity you really need to now at what temp because it changes the humidity aswell.
Good advice on not over filling your humidor. I have two humidors, one is reserved for those times when I go crazy and buy too many cigars. If you fill your daily smoke humidor with too many fresh sticks it takes longer for them to acclimate and nothing will smoke quite right for a month or so, even the cigars you have had for sometime. After a month I transfer some to my daily smoke humidor. It’s all trial and error and finding what works best for you!
That sounds about right man. As long as people experiment and find out whats best for them, that's all I really care about is the best result. Our intention here was to debunk the 70/70 rule that most people say is the way to go.
As a newer cigar enthusiast, I absolutely love how clear and understandable you are with detail. Much information tells the how but not the why, loving your insights. I have not had a cigar yet from Perdomo that has disappointed.
Nick , I really enjoy seeing you. We all appreciate what you and your family has done for the cigar industry and Hobby. We hope that you and your family are safe and happy. Blessings from Gettysburg- keep em’burning.
Absolutely love Nick’s videos, the lighting, scene, presentation & cinematography is just superb not to mention the great advice from an obvious aficionado. It’s really difficult to get Perdomo Cigars here in the UK especially single sticks to try, if anyone knows a stockist please let me know! By the way Nick, if you ever need any vital organs, I’ll swap for that gorgeous Humidor!!! 😂
Great video. I am a huge fan of your cigars here in the UK. Most of my cigars in my humidor are Perdomo. My first one was the 20th Anniversary Connecticut Epicure and I was instantly hooked. I now have all of the award winning range and the Connecticut. My family had to travel to Europe to get them for me but was well worth it. Looking forward to my sister bringing me back a few boxes from the US.. Thank you Perdomo for great cigars and great videos. Nick you are a legend in your own right sir. Thank you.
Thx Nick, luv your presentations so much so I made my first purchase for 20th Anniversary Sungrown sticks from my Cigar Merchant all the way Down Under. God Bless you and Family.
I wish i had these informative and educational videos when i started smoking cigars, it sure is very helpful. Here in michigan i noticed anything beyond 70%rh will make my cigars susceptible to mold i rather keep them at 65% and my humidors are going good so far. Thank you for sharing your time and experience it sure is greatly appreciated. Kindest regards Al janabi
Hey Al, thanks for the kind words and sharing your experience with us man. One of our main goals with this channel is to grow our community and to help those newer smokers avoid what you had to go through. I am sure that was a frustrating experience.
Most of us dont store our cigars outside, we typically store them in our homes/ a controlled environment. I live in Ga, and keep my cigars in a humidor with an RH of 69%. Using this method, I've yet to have a problem. The only acception to this is when it comes to Cubans. In which case, I keep them in a seperate humidor with an RH at or below 62% . Thanks for the vid sir.
Man o Man, been smoking cigars for years and years, learned a little here and there, but REALLY learned about enjoying a cigar from Nick's videos. Priceless !!!
Living in south alabama, the humidity often is like that of a jungle in south America. I tried 70% for a long time, finally switched to 65% after getting burn issues, not as much flavor, etc. The cigars always tasted better at the cigar lounge than the ones that came out of my humidor. When I switched to 65% boveda packs, the difference is immense in burn quality and flavor. It's all about where you live, but that 5% made a huge difference.
Nick, I am blown away by how much I learn with each of your videos. I never gave the type of tobacco and its thickness a 2nd thought in relation to humidification levels, THANK YOU! I can't help looking at that gorgeous humidor every video. May you and your family always be healthy and prosperous. #PerdomoArmy
