INT. DIMLY LIT ROOM -- NIGHT
We see Jason standing eager, faced towards a wall. Bundles of newspaper structure the room, stalagmites of old media. Looking closer we notice he's face-to-face with a poster which appears to be crudely taped to a full-body mirror. There's an uncomfortable silence.
CUT TO: over-the-shoulder, the poster is J. Jonah Jameson and the eyes are torn out. Jason's eyes are perfectly positioned in the reflection.
He grabs at the poster and sheers a wedge down the face, revealing a now-lit cigar in Jason's mouth. It's an identical match.
JASON (triumphant, but also kind of a whisper)
Not today, Peter... No, today I become something so much more.

Big homie didn't let his friend talk at all
It doesn't matter, he knows enough to fill the whole video already and it's all good knowledge
Do you mean Brian or the other guy. Brian does that every episode tho so
@@thomasblake5174 pretty sure they meant the Cigar guy
What a chooch
He's the owner.
Feel sorry for the guy on the far left tbh. He was clearly excited for this interview - you can tell from the fact that he's had a haircut specifically for the purpose of this interview (clearly) - but he doesn't even say anything! Like, he's just sitting (leaning) there wishing that he could talk, but he can't get a word in over that chap in with the half smoken cigar in his hand.
Well you know what? I quite like him, despite the fact that he's a very forgetful person. I hope he has a lovely rest of his life.
*Prays for checked shirt guy*
I came in the comment section to see if anybody else noticed this. I quite like him as well.
As did I! He's so much more interesting than monotone!
Lol! Well i hope he hits the lottery
Conjecture
That's Mike Rosales. Both of those guys are the owners of Intemperance
You should do an episode on understanding suits.
yes!
The Modern Rogue yes, I want to see a video like this too, please do different price points as well.
Hell yeah! In the robot voice "the modern rouge learns how to get dressed"
PLEASE, I was gunna say contact the guy who did Phil Defranco's suit, but they are all out in Cali... although you could use it as a way to get a nice vacation to Cali.
Adam Pine There's a guy in New York City that did all the suits for "The Wolf of Wall Street". He's pretty famous and all of his suits are hand made. It takes him days to weeks to make each suit.
jason looks like he wants pictures of spiderman on his desk by 3 o’clock
The guy in the back was probably thinking "why did they call me"😂😂
Yea mike is more business. But they party hard. Dont sleep on them lol
he absolutely enjoyed his buddy lecturing!
This cigar series got me into cigars 3 years ago! Thank you for helping me find this hobby!!
7:02 is the "I'm just here and not getting to talk" face. I know the feeling well.
Between the Phantom Limbs, the Krav Maga, the BJJ, and now the cigars I feel like Brian and Jason are trying to turn all of us into Big Boss from Metal Gear Solid.
Witty comment of the week aside, if y'all are looking for a topic for another discussion video, the idea of micro-nations and founding one might be interesting.
If you go through with it, look into the Montevideo Convention, the Principality of Sealand, maybe mix in some discussions about Lockean Labor Theory in there, and possibly mention some *(hypothetical)* places one could start their new nation.
Oh my god... the Modern Rogues... THEY PLAYED US LIKE A DAMN FIDDLE!
Well, I think it's obvious that we need an episode about fiddle-playing now...
Ah yes... to distract your opponents before you smack them over the head with your Millwall brick... or... just hit them with the fiddle I guess
Good Idea
Modern Gear Rogue.
I'd rename this "Two Youth Pastors Walk into a Cigar Shop".
HAHAHAHAHAHHA 😆😆😂😂
LMAO
Dude, I was thinking the exact thing ☠️
I plan on getting into cigars very soon and this video just help my confidence in visiting my local cigar shop/bar . Thanks . Awesome video
Thanks!
Now i know all about cigars... EXCEPT how to cut it, where to cut it, how to light it, what it really tastes like, what the taste differences are, how to smoke it and how to enjoy it best...
There's another episode coming.
Jason Murphy thanks, yay! And damn... i'll smoke cigars tomorrow with friends to celebrate thr new years :/ i'll have to go take a look at that website about cigars and teach myself :3
(Btw, you're great guys, happy new year and enjoy yourself!)
AniBunny (Antoine S.) You cut the cigar at the head. There are two line/barriers at the top end of a cigar. The first one is the head, second is the shoulder, you cut the cigar at the first line/barrier aka the head.
It should take you from 30 min to two hours to smoke a cigar. Take about a 3-5 second slow inhale per pull. And pull/inhale twice per minute.
Take your time smoking, watch a program, turn on some music, hang out with a friend or make yourself a drink and enjoy.
i’ve only smoked a cigar a couple times but i think the way to enjoy it best is with friends or just good company in general, share some stories, jokes and really just have a good time, don’t overthink it
@mitchtrevino my favorite way to smoke is while I'm sketching outside. Smoking with people is very solid as well, was happy to get one of my good friends into it
guy in the back looked so awkward like he was excluded lol
Should have been a round table
Dylan Demarco b
Dylan Demarco I’ve seen that look before, that man is holding in a massive fart.
The few times he tried to speak he was quickly cut off.
Would probably love you more than I already do if you made one on coffee
We're trying to make that happen.
Jason Murphy 😍😍
Man, coffee is a deeeeeep subject to cover though.
Hey pigcake's here!!
Can't wait!!!
I used to smoke 4 cigars a day, now I’m down to maybe one every week or two. These guys explained everything very well with all the information any beginner could want. A truly excellent episode for the uninitiated. I would have loved to see Olivia (the Connecticut is phenomenal) in their pile as well as some more boutique brands like Tatuaje (Tattoo and series P are the best budget cigars by far) or Warped. Also, Rocky Patel and it’s owner are horrible except for a couple of cigars.
should have asked the guy in the blue a specific question, so he could've shared his knowledge as well.
you could tell he didn't want to interrupt, but every time he started to say something, dude in the green would talk.
made the whole thing kind of awkward...
Green's the front man. I have no doubt the guy in the back knows just as much and is quite used to, even prefers, the other guy to do the talking. Nobody wants Eddie Van Halen to sing, right? But what's the band's name?
We are surrounded by carcinogens everyday. Air pollution, UV radiation, fuel-burning appliances, room fresheners, food preservatives, alcohol and even coffee.
Enjoying a cigar every once in a while is just as tolerable as occasionally drinking alcohol or smoking pot - as long as it is in moderation and you know and understand the associated risks.
The negative stigma of (tobacco) smoking is mainly due to the widespread of cigarettes, which are way more dangerous than pure tobacco, as already stated in this video.
We must differentiate between chain smokers and tobacco enthusiasts - just as we differentiate between alcoholics and wine aficionados, for example.
I've thoroughly enjoyed this video and I'm looking forward to more videos on this topic - pipe smoking or chewing tobacco, for example.
couldn't have said it better myself.
Well said.
Agreed.
To anyone reading this: don't start smoking, ever. If you're already addicted, I don't really care. If you're not, don't get yourself addicted.
Jacob P. Cigars aren’t addictive people Ik only smoke like once a week
Im not gunna remember 95% of this but when someone at some point in my life starts talking about it im gunna recall most of this information and come off as really weird for knowing it
Michael Bay Dude... are you me?
This is my life now. I learn so much random shit from these two, and all the other youtubers I watch that "teach" weird things about random ass shit, that I know so much random stuff, and the explanation is always awkward. Like, oh yea, I watched a video about that on youtube... LIKE just the other day at work, I was talking about how the UK and EU run their mains voltage on 240v so their tea pots (the electric kind) boils water WAY faster than ours do. And then, apparently we had a new guy from the UK there that was in the room, so they asked him, lol. He was like "I never really noticed, to be honest, never really measured it"
Michael Bay Probably same.
That's my entire life in a nutshell.
Basically me to my friends and classmates
That's why they hate me 😂😂😂
The dude in blue is like kill me now
Jason Voorheese fuck who
Jason Voorheese Jesus! did he kill your family or something? Like damn

He said it, he said the thing!
I recently got into cigars, partially thanks to this video. This is legit my favorite video to watch/listen to when smoking. 30 minutes is like the perfect smoking session time for me
My family was once invited to this Polo match event because of my sister's involvement with hospitals and stuff but it was sponsored by Bently luxury car dealerships and everyone there was filthy rich. Everyone was walking around in $500 suits and the women had big hats and there was a booth where you would pay this guy to hand make custom cigars right in front of you and that just blew my mind. Imagine being so rich that that's just a normal family outing. Polo, luxury cars, cigars, and whiskey.
Donnie Montoya that sounds pretty cool, but $500 suits are cheap, I would imagine they were a lot more than that
$500 suit?!! That's off the rack!
Yeah, a $500 suit is a cheap suit. Also, you can hire a cigar roller to come to your gathering and roll cigars, and it’s not all that expensive. I’ve been to a few gatherings where they’ve had a cigar roller, and it’s quite interesting to see them work.
$500 suits are cheap as hell, buddy. you were just drunk in New Orleans, ok?
I think he may be speaking of a time long before now. He says the women had large hats on in reference to their status and that really hasn't been a thing for a while. Therefore a $500 suit would've been a lot of money 🤷♂️
I don't care about cigars but I like you guys
that makes two of us.
Make that 3

You guys should do an episode on pipe smoking
Yes!
@@ModernRogue Any update on this? I'm a newbie pipe smoker myself (one year in) and quite interested to see how you guys experience the hobby :)
@@ModernRogue I'd advise searching RUclips for a group of channels known as the YTPC (RUclips Pipe Community). Get with any of these guys. There are bound to be several in Texas. Derek Tant, for one, is over in West-ish Texas.
It has just been uploaded

You're welcome
I consider myself a cigar connoisseur and I smoke about two cigars a day but I would love to smoke more. This is the most informative cigar introduction that I've ever seen. I highly recommend this episode for anyone that wants to get into smoking cigars.
We NEED a feature film where Brian and Jason put everything they've taught us on modern rogue to use, a kind of Macgyver-esque spy film where Jason's the villain smoking cigars and his minions are chasing Brian while he does sick drifts. PLEASE

Can there be a 30 minute video of you guys smoking and ranking different brands and prices of cigars? I'd watch that
Aigsup 1234 yea I was really hoping they’d go into the brands and flavors. Perhaps there will be another video, I’m pretty sure they had several videos with both the whiskey guys and beer guys
I would love to see that video.
We've got another video with these guys coming up soon. There, we talk about cutting, tasting, etc.

8 a day? Jesus Christ!
Jake Greene That's how you tear a fucking whole in your lungs
(you mean mouth, since he doesn't inhale them, because they are cigars.)
That's a good 6.5 to 8 hours a day spent in cigar smoking, damn...
Kahmoj maybe if you watched the video you wouldn't look like such a chooch
Kahmoj 1st wrong hole (ha). 2nd you don't inhale cigars. 3rd cigars are an actual plant unlike cigarettes so there are mostly no adverse effects.
Cigars, burbon and classical music, now that's what I call a good evening.
@Mike G what bands? I mainly listen to classical but I do also listen to metal, like slipknot, beartooth, 5FDP, BFMV, BMTH, I could go on and on lmao.
The best store would sell cigars, whiskey, wine, fine books, beer, coffee, and donuts.

Kyle Kwartel micheal from GTA?
Kyle Kwartel you can keep the classic music! I agree with the two out of three.
I just stumbled across this video and had no idea that these guys are in the town I live in! Thanks for the interview y'all, I'll be in Roma Craft soon!
Recently, I got into the cigar hobby and appreciated the art and degustation aspect behind it. I note down the different flavors and experiences that the ones I try leave, I only smoke one cigar every two weeks or sometimes only once a month, since the reason I'm in the hobby is not to form a habit but for the tasting aspect of it, so to avoid addicting myself to it. Since that would run the entire thing for me, I truly enjoy the taste and overall experience and I do not aim to make that a crutch or bad habit, just like a wine aficionado tastes and appreciates wine.
And do not mistake yourself smoking cigars done wrong is a huge health hazard, so you have to have the right mind to start this hobby if you have doubts that you will get addicted to it don't START!
“Oh hey modern rogue uploaded, neat-“
*sees the topic is my favorite hobby*
“yeeeeeeet!”
Haha I had the same reaction... only a year later
This is a very good video one of the best I've seen about cigars. I've been smoking cigars for over 20 years.
Nice!
Both of the guys - Skip Martin and Michael Rosales did a great job in my humble opinion. Cigars and cigar smoking couldn't have been explained better than this. Kudos to you guys!
Glad you liked it!

I am not old enough to smoke (14) but was a wedding and they had a person making cigars and was the only sober one there and got talking to him and he was really knowledgeable and discovered that the things i was taught about the people that sell cigars and cigarettes. Get to know your people and make friends with em and you’ll learn a lot by just talking to them.
TL;DR Talk to and make friends with your people and it will be great.

Feel free to cut off the last part. Anyone who doesn't read something because it was "too long" doesn't deserve the knowledge, especially if it was only a sentence or two. Any person who is seriously that lazy and willfully ignorant would be brought up for summery execution in a perfect world.

Gotta say, I was skeptical at first about this channel, but I was blown away. These guys are great
Knowing how to cut, light and smoke are very important as well. Not cutting too high or too little, lightening the cigar evenly and not smoking too fast. Lots more behind it! Great start though, keep 'em coming

I just started a job at a cigar lounge & this video was very helpful. I walked in not knowing a damn thing about cigars but willing to learn & luckily my boss is willing to teach. So I’m doing research on my days off.
Nice!
Good explanation of cigars. Will definitely put this on my cigar playlist
Thanks! The RomaCraft guys really know their stuff.

I’m from the uk and we definitely don’t consume machine made cigar more regularly. Our cigar merchants are usually solely Cuban hand rolled cigars!
You've done beer, whisk(e)y, cocktails, and now cigars...GUYS, WHEN ARE YOU DOING WINE?!
good point.
I guess the ultimate question is; do you feel wine to be rogue material or is it too pretentious?
Not too pretentious at all! Just need to find a good expert and make the time.
Awesome! Brian and Jason, I love how you gents are active with your community! If you decide to pursue an episode or two about wine; I eagerly await The Modern's Rogue's approach to it! Stay awesome, stay rogue!
Thanks!

I really like the lighting of this room. Feels so welcoming and full of warmth.
I probably won't ever smoke anything in my life but this was still very interesting. I can definitely appreciate it more now that I know it's not just a "big cigarette" like I thought. if I was ever presented with the chance I might actually try one but just one to see what it's like. it's always great learning about things and getting a new perspective.

Happy Cotton Candy Day, daddies! XD
I have been smoking cigars for 7 months, when I started, I made a mistake/ a good idea and got a Camacho triple Maduro, and let me tell you guys it’s a delicious cigar, paired really nicely with a craft cream soda. I ran before I walked, but I thoroughly enjoyed it, now I have been going for Camacho ditka signatures. I don’t know if you noticed but I love Camacho.
This video and it's follow-up was so helpful, I'm 20 years old and ordered my first cigar today, in fact my first tobacco product and the tobacconist was indeed very nice and helped me pick the right cigar and I didn't feel completely lost and a chooch. I don't know why cigars aren't more liked by my age group. As a 19 year old, I really enjoy a good cigar. I get alot of wierd looks though. On another note, Cuban cigars really are amazing. If you are ever in Puerto Rico, go get an El Gapon cigar.

With the right marketing, they could easily become popular among young people. Just like Jägermeister Kräuterschnaps.
I started smoking cigars when i was 16 and since then my favorite brand has been Joya De Nicaragua.
“The modern rogue knows what a cigar is”
Good for you boys
I never thought that cigar could be an interesting topic that you can talk about for 30 minutes straight
This channel deserves more attentions
Started smoking cigars about a year ago. I was on temporary duty in San Antonio for six weeks, every weekend I would go to Cigars International. Just going in the humidor researching all these cigars probably help me learn a lot about the “vice”.
25:46 lol. Guy in the back was about to make a comeback. Ahhh, no... Lol
Cos fatboy can't shut he's trap and allow the poor chap to get attention
Never smoked cigars, but i am finding this suprisingly interesting to watch.
I'm so glad we got a cigar episode from you guys. I enjoyed the fact that it was a lot more information on the history and details of the cigars and makers. Now there needs to be a part 2 that focuses on the act of smoking and how to enjoy it best. The tastes and aromas. And especially the community. That would be a more fun and free episode that wouldn't have to be as long and educational. A great place to go for it would be out in Arizona at TNT Cigars with Tim and Bradley. Thank you guys for the awesome content as always!
Ty just getting into the amazing world of cigars. These are the best combination of entertaining and informative.

Just got done watching this and your How to Drink Your Bourbon Properly video. These videos are great; they make me feel like I'm not wasting time on RUclips
I got into cigars about a year and half ago, just as something that I wanted to try out. I’m not an expert by any means. I did a bit of reading online to get a general idea of what basic things to look out for since I had zero experience, then just went to a local cigar lounge. One of the people that was in the lounge heard me talking to one of the workers at the counter and offered to spend some time going through and picking out some stuff to try. I think I left that first visit with 6 or 7 completely different cigars and I spent around $60. I still don’t smoke very often, maybe a couple times a month or for celebrations, and I typically spend $60-70 each time I go to a shop. I usually get a couple of cigars that I know I really enjoy, then I’ll get a few different ones to try. You can learn very quickly what you do and don’t like in a cigar. It’s not nearly as expensive of a hobby as I initially thought it would be, though it definitely could be if you wanted it to, as with any hobby. Honestly, to anyone wanting to try it out, you can look online and there are tons of different videos like this one telling you what kinds of cigars are out there, some even give you some starting points to get your footing, and then just ask someone at a shop and they should be more than happy to help you find some stuff to try that fits what you’re looking for along with your budget. I would also recommend keeping track of what cigars you did and didn’t like, and if you want to get even more specific then you can also keep track of what you didn’t like in particular about each cigar. That can really help when you go to look for something new because you’ll know what you do and don’t like.
I would avoid going for the cheap flavored cigarillo type stuff for obvious reasons, but there are higher quality cigars that do have added flavors that can be enjoyable if that’s something that you’re looking for. My brother actually got a couple $6-8 cigars with things like vanilla or coffee, and they taste good but they can get overwhelming and annoying to me. Romeo Y Julieta are great cigars at a good price, and there’s such a big variety. I find myself falling back to them as an all around good cigar for anything. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten a bad RyJ cigar. If you’re looking for something smaller for a really quick smoke, ~15 mins or so, I do also enjoy the miniatures from time to time, though I definitely prefer something more substantial if I have the time. It’s really just about finding something that fits what you’re looking for. So far I’ve found that there is something for everyone. Don’t be afraid to go into a lounge or shop and ask questions or ask for help with finding some things for you to try. And don’t be a dick or a “chooge” or whatever they called it.
Now that I’ve watched this, I’m gonna go have a smoke! Great video, guys!
Next episode : Understanding Suits
I've been trying to put that episode together for a while now.
I once went into a tobacconist. I wanted to give my father a cigar for his birthday.. A real fancy one.. As a surprise. I never managed to procure one from the tobacconist, since I had no idea what to ask for, and the tobacconist was obviously disgusted, by how little I cared, and how much I relied on her knowledge of the product, in order to give my father a good cigar.
Not calling it "cigar joint" could be a good start lol
That middle cuban with the black and yellow label was the first real cigar I'd ever smoked. Was on vacation in mexico, and had never done it before. I remembered that Cubans were legal in Mexico, so I figured if I was going to try it, I was going to try a Cuban. I didn't have a torch but I did have a lighter, and I bought a clipper as well. Was very drunk so I'm not 100% sure how much it was, but I think I spent $15 altogether, which I was perfectly happy to do.
A quick google search taught me how and where to clip, as well as how to light, and I already knew not to inhale. I know nothing about tobacco at all, but that cigar was amazing. It was sweet, lasted like 2 hours(ish), and wasn't nauseatingly strong. I had a great night smoking that cigar and drinking mezcal. Very interested in doing that again here in the States, but I didnt know where to start. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Everyone is a dick for not engaging him and the chubby dude won't stop dropping his knnnowwledggge.
The guy in the back is in the back for a reason.
"Your a Chooch Brushwood, a chooch!" I'm in tears
Great video. One of the best introduction to Cigars video on You Tube. Really enjoyed it. Very down to earth.
This guy so serious. Brian Just laughing like a mad man. Best show.

8 a day = 73000 cigars
This guy is saying he's smoked seventy three thousands cigars in his life
I was thinking the same. That’s like 6 hours a day smoking cigars.
