Ryan Papenhuyzen is the Melbourne Storm's Full Back (No 1). He's has 2 serious injuries over the last 2 seasons. One where he shattered his kneecap into 14 pieces and another where he broke his ankle and damaged all the surrounding ligaments shortly after returning from the first injury. Just now, he will be out for 4-6 weeks as he has a small fracture where the plate had been installed in his leg.
The New Zealand Warriors are everyone's second team because during the Covid Pandemic, when Australia shut its borders, the Warriors relocated their entire team, operations and their families to Australia so that the seasons could continue. They were based in Australia instead of New Zealand for 2 years. They are credited with saving the NRL during that period and now everyone wants them to do really well.
I'm still a bit confused as to why they would be credited with saving it. Could the league not have run without them or something? Regardless still very cool. For some reason I always thought there was like a dislike between Australians and New Zealanders but I guess not from what I've seen so far in my youtube journey.
The NRL would’ve violated its broadcasting deals if the Warriors pulled out - so the league probably would’ve survived without them but at significant cost. Also Aussies and NZs are really like brothers - friendly rivals. We aren’t the same, but have many things in common that unite us. Maybe similar to Americans and Canadians?
@@flaminjamin Yup, that's right, the game didn't have enough money to keep it afloat if it violated the broadcast deal and there would no longer be a game, that is why the Warriors are credited with saving the game. It's called ANZAC day for a reason, that's how close Australia and New Zealand are. We can live in each other's countries without visas, etc. They are the absolute closest allies Australia has which also makes us super competitive when we play each other in ANY sport, not just rugby league. That being said, we would rather someone from New Zealand won in sport if Australia wasn't in the running!
Good summation of the Warriors. They’ve been dominating field position in games with hard running, but they haven’t been able to capitalise and lately their ball control has been pretty sloppy.
The guy injured for the storm already had a plate in his ankle from an injury last year …this injury is apparently just above the plate so will be out with a broken leg for about 6 weeks
Papenhuyzen is the fullback for the Storm with the long hair that got injured during the match against the Titans. He’s one of the NRL’s best players when fully fit and healthy. Unfortunately he’s suffered some pretty major leg injuries over the last few seasons so he hasn’t played much since then.
Yeah. The warriors this year have dominated territory powering up the field but have been a bit unlucky with 50/50 calls, particualrly after getting over the line (two in the last game they bizarely didn't show in the highlgiths), they've been held up over the line a few times and poor attacking options and overreliance on Johnson as sole playmaker when down attacking on the opposition's try line. In the last three games they've also been sloppy with discipline gifting opposition an easy way out of their half, with the warriors then needing to run it all the way back again. They've also managed to lose the close ones; snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. That's why the stats don't reflect their position on the table.
The negative plays stat for the broncos is crazy, because they were last for last year as well, but they are so good they still almost won the grand final with that stat. It is becoming a problem this year now especially now that they lost their captain for the season. If they had a better completion rate last year, they win the comp easy.

It's a high ankle sprain

Anymore more serious injuries and his career could end.

Tigers lost composure at the end, lost the game and the fight
The two worst teams produce the best games
Maximum chaos
So Eamonn, after seeing 9 rounds would you ever want to be a coach? I believe there are better ways to get your stress levels sky high 🙃
haha definitely not.
