This book reminds me of Soul & A Christmas Carrol. In both, they’re about the protagonist realizing that they need to live their lives better. In The Midnight Library, it’s about Nora wanting to live, which is living better than wanting to die. You see the basic premise in a lot of works, it usually goes something like this. A person can’t deal with the death of a loved one. They try to kill themselves and wind up in a coma instead. They have a lucid dream, which is actually real, where they meet that loved on the other side. That person tells them they have a lot to live for and to go back and they do. This book is an original and a unique take on that premise. A bit of a plothole that Nora was in a coma for slightly more than a minute and then simply came to. She was able to get to her neighbor’s door only to pass out again. I would give this book a 2.5/5.
