I'm a trucker so FYI if you get a free card from Love's, flying J, pilot or other truck stops once you fill up with certain amount of fuel you automatically get a free shower. Plus you get credits that accumulate that you can purchase anything from there except cigarettes and beer. And yes I've given free showers to some people even a mom who had a kid that threw up on themselves lol. Stay safe out there chica. Peace out

Great video, Ahle! You can also purchase a black cement mixer tub at Home Depot or Lowe’s-they are made of extra thick black plastic & you find them in the building materials section of the store. I use one for showers inside my conversion van (using black out curtains for the van’s windows); I simply have a collapsible stool in the middle of the cement mixer tub & use two bottles of water I put on the dash of the van to warm up from the sun. Then, I use Dr. Bronner’s soap, since it rinses off easily & simply either take sponge bath or a navy shower (get a little wet and lather up with soap & then rinse off). My preference is the dog sprayer that fits any water bottle top and acts as a shower, but, I’ve also used my converted garden sprayer, like your setup. I can usually shower with less than a gallon of water that way. And, I can dispose of the water outside, since Dr. Bronner’s soap won’t harm the environment.

The team shower is free. So, no worries about not having an extra shower on card. Just show fuel cashier a shower ticket and ask for an extra team shower. I usually offer a buck or two. I got another one for you, most major cities have public bicycle rack rentals that have showers for commuters year round or seasonally, viable option that I used for camping outdoors for 2 yrs straight.
Another good place to wash up is gas station bathrooms, the ones where you go inside to get a key so you don't have to worry about someone walking in on you. They usually have a drain in the floor and you just take a large cup or something to pour the water over yourself, your soap and shampoo and can also brush your teeth, shave, etc. Don't spend to much time in there because other people might need to use it to answer the call of nature. I've found that most are pretty clean and also I like to buy something so I'm not just freeloading. Thanks for all your great advice!
When I was on the road the baby wipe method I would put rubbing alcohol right into the bag, cleans and disinfects, squeeky clean without leaving the baby wipe film. Also makes a great make up remover.
Check out Norwex body cloths. They have silver in the cloths and you just use them wet. No soap required. I live in a house and haven't used soap for 4 months now. No stink-age. A quick wipe down with these are way better than baby wipes too. Plus you don't have to keep buying them. Love your videos!
When my partner & I were on streets for a year waiting for jobs & SSI income to be reprocessed, we used occasional motel room, hospitals (when admitted) , local co-ed shelters (like a Salvation Army) or local gyms a few times. Awkward, yes, as you're commonly dealing with being nude in front of others you don't know, or having strict timing limits on how long/how much water usage to shower. Harrowing experience!! But better than nothing. If anything, when it rains, if you have any privacy ---find a roof corner , strip down to skevies or swimwear & bathe quickly there if you have to ;)
i have a driveway that is stealth for repairs and i run a foster home for pets with just a bathtub and i also am a retired army vet i live in Columbus Georgia- when i was younger i lived in my car - gas was 75 cents a gallon
Most of the truck stops have card programs and you can accrue points every time you buy something. In short time you can get enough points for free showers. The showers in the TA/Petros are big and I take my time I even wash some clothes. Just some info. If you drive a car that takes diesel you can earn points quicker.
Also, at least in Upstate, NY, most of the SUNY Colleges open their sporting buildings early in the morning and you can slide in, shower and leave without anyone even noticing.
Public swimming pools in Sydney are fantastic, a few dollars entry & package prices, all over the city, cold & heated pools, lots of parking, toilets & hot showers 👍🏻
For the water bottle, there is little showerheads that they sell for water bottles. And I think you might be able to put a standard shower head on a 2 litter soda bottle with a bit of plumber's tape and maybe some hose washers, but not sure how well the threads match.
I was a trucker (still own one), and thing is, I ran hard at times and didn’t wanna stop for 2-3 hours for a shower. But, I kept clean. What I did was every time I went into a bathroom, I would take 5 or 6 big wads of that brown paper and wet them. I would keep a small bottle of body wash in my pocket and use it one or two to wash them one or two to rinse. You get the picture. Worked for me. Then when I had time, I’d go in and take a nice shower. Oh yeah, Sure regular scent spray deodorant under the arms works for me.

Planet Fitness sounds like a great idea plus you can get a daily workout at the same time. Make sure you wear shower shoes though. There are a lot of funky things growing on the floors of gyms that you don't want to catch.
i belonged to a state wide gym also colleges . i would drive on the campus and act like a student . i would work out and shower . college cafeterias had good prices also . i showered dozens of time at college campuses while traveling never had a problem .

The $10 membership at Planet Fitness doesn't let you take showers at any Planet Fitness. Only the one in which you applied for your membership. To be able to use any Planet Fitness around the world, I think it's more like $40 a month.
Found that state parks in Michigan that have campgrounds have shower facilities. They all have nature trails around the campgrounds, so it's easy to park outside and not pay admission, go on the nature trail and have your shower gear in your backpack and mozy on into the campgrounds and right into the the restroom/shower facilities. No one gives a hoot, everyone thinks you must be a camper if you're there. Totally free and you get a good walk on some beautiful nature trails to boot.
I'm currently saving up for a cargo van!! Definitely want a high roof!! Like I have been thinking about this in my head going on 2 years now!!! I'm gonna have to go the extra mile and insulate + get Max fans and things to keep it comfortable so I can bring my cats with me!

"Running into a trucker with an extra shower" at a truck stop is definitely do able. Just ask enough drivers probably easiest to just use a CB radio to ask.
It looks like Planet Fitness would be good for people who live in the more eastern parts of the U.S. But there aren't that many places in the west. It looks like there are only seven in my state. That being said, my local laundromat has showers.
Before I went and showered in any strangers home I would contact somebody I know and I would give them detailed instructions on what to do if I did not call them at X00 or if I did not call them call me if I don't answer send in the forces. I do the same for travel in general I always tell somebody where I am going when I expect to arrive and my potential changes in driving. If I can I will use FB to post where I am so I can give my people reasonable place to look should I come up missing. There are evil people out there that are here for one reason to get money any way they can. How can you say truck stop is affordable? Sorry but $12 is way too expensive. PLNT planet fitness $10 is for ONE LOCATION ONLY so you need to consider getting the BLACK CARD to have option to shower at ANY PLNT. That service will cost you on average $306. You have to pay a monthly fee with their once a year maintenance fee. With truck stop showers $12, hotels costing god knows how much last one I paid for was $30 a night at a B&B that has no TV just a bed and a good shower. Oh they had some food for the AM and they did offer me a plug for my in car freezer. But you can see that even if you got a shower a week at truckstops that would be min $48 a month the PLNT wins hands down. Another GREAT reason to have the PLNT membership is you get to use their water jet tables. I drove to KS and stopped to shower in the gym in Wichita KS. I had a serious pain on my body that I had to have worked out. I got on the HEATED WATER JET MASSAGE TABLE and I was ready to go in no time at all. I got my shower did my 30 min walk on the treadmill and I was out of there. This was for the trip I took to observe the Eclipse. Another way to shower is GET ALREADY HEATED WATER from a source. I have done this at truck stops. You go in and you ask for water if they ask you tell them you need it for your radiator. They usually never check the temperature you get out the tap so fix it where you like the temp. Then you leave that truck stop with the water. Maybe go to the next truck stop and park on the back row set your water where it will gravity flow you need only 2 gallons get 3 to be safe. Trust me 3 gallons is nothing to a big truck. Water weighs 8 lbs a gallon so you want to plan this by having a milk crate and a dolly. Plan it right by DOING THIS BEFORE YOU HAVE TO EMPLOY THIS . Why because you will put the crate on and find it does not want to stay on your cart as I found out and I ended up tieing the crate to the cart. I carry a folding dolly for those times you might need it. Like if you run out of fuel and need to return to your ride with a gas can you will have a very tired arm back etc I am 50 I know what my limitations are after back and knee surgery I plan ahead. Then there is my favorite shower the one where you shower with somebody. Your back gets really clean and you need to really trust this person. Those showers are rare last one I had like that was over 17 years ago.

Get a membership at a Y or other gym you encounter often. Most campgrounds will not let you shower there if you are not a guest.

Go to a smaller no name truck stop. The showers are usually much cheaper. Even free at some.

I actually bought the portable shower pump.. Is like 30 bucks and it has a medium shower head, good water pressure... Works great!

another California tip, In Monterey, Ca...the Coast Gaurd Pier has showers inside the restrooms, privacy and 25 cents per 5 minute meter.

a California tip.....Salvation Army allows free wash/dry clothes and showers and food. No cost.
I had a membership at Anytime fitness and showered there when I was living in my car.

"Running into a trucker with an extra shower" at a truck stop is definitely do able. Just ask enough drivers probably easiest to just use a CB radio to ask.
It looks like Planet Fitness would be good for people who live in the more eastern parts of the U.S. But there aren't that many places in the west. It looks like there are only seven in my state. That being said, my local laundromat has showers.

Any urgent care on the road will take u. If you have no insurance it's a $100 flat fee for an appointment. I know I've done it many times

Before I went and showered in any strangers home I would contact somebody I know and I would give them detailed instructions on what to do if I did not call them at X00 or if I did not call them call me if I don't answer send in the forces.
I do the same for travel in general I always tell somebody where I am going when I expect to arrive and my potential changes in driving. If I can I will use FB to post where I am so I can give my people reasonable place to look should I come up missing. There are evil people out there that are here for one reason to get money any way they can.

PLNT planet fitness $10 is for ONE LOCATION ONLY so you need to consider getting the BLACK CARD to have option to shower at ANY PLNT. That service will cost you on average $306. You have to pay a monthly fee with their once a year maintenance fee. With truck stop showers $12, hotels costing god knows how much last one I paid for was $30 a night at a B&B that has no TV just a bed and a good shower. Oh they had some food for the AM and they did offer me a plug for my in car freezer. But you can see that even if you got a shower a week at truckstops that would be min

Another GREAT reason to have the PLNT membership is you get to use their water jet tables. I drove to KS and stopped to shower in the gym in Wichita KS. I had a serious pain on my body that I had to have worked out. I got on the HEATED WATER JET MASSAGE TABLE and I was ready to go in no time at all. I got my shower did my 30 min walk on the treadmill and I was out of there. This was for the trip I took to observe the Eclipse.
Another way to shower is GET ALREADY HEATED WATER from a source. I have done this at truck stops. You go in and you ask for water if they ask you tell them you need it for your radiator. They usually never check the temperature you get out the tap so fix it where you like the temp. Then you leave that truck stop with the water. Maybe go to the next truck stop and park on the back row set your water where it will gravity flow you need only 2 gallons get 3 to be safe. Trust me 3 gallons is nothing to a big truck. Water weighs 8 lbs a gallon so you want to plan this by having a milk crate and a dolly. Plan it right by DOING THIS BEFORE YOU HAVE TO EMPLOY THIS . Why because you will put the crate on and find it does not want to stay on your cart as I found out and I ended up tieing the crate to the cart. I carry a folding dolly for those times you might need it. Like if you run out of fuel and need to return to your ride with a gas can you will have a very tired arm back etc I am 50 I know what my limitations are after back and knee surgery I plan ahead.
Then there is my favorite shower the one where you shower with somebody. Your back gets really clean and you need to really trust this person. Those showers are rare last one I had like that was over 17 years ago.

Planet Fitness is great, but I worry about how to dry the towel afterward if you don't have the space of a van
They make quick-dry towels that work pretty great! Or just use the gym towels.
