Had a job many years ago delivering lost luggage from the airport and a 1993 accord. Got a large run out of town and needed extra space, so I removed my tools from the trunk; almost all of them anyway. On the way home, had a flat; no jack, no tire iron, etc. Sat there and thought about my dilemma for a moment, prayed about it; I had a socket set and my carpenters tool belt and my spare tire. Started walking through the ditch to see what I could find. Found enough manufactured wood to use as a jack, piled it up, used the hammer to pound it under the car then put the car in drive pulled the car up onto the stack of lumber. The socket set had a one large enough for the wheel lugs, had to dig out under the spare with my hammer to get it to fit.....long story short, changed the flat without the proper tools and had four new tires put on later that day.
Moral of the story: I thought that this type of malady only happened to me. lol

Prayer changes everything! I can't tell you how many times in my life something was stuck or wouldn't go on properly and after praying for help it would fall right off or go together so smoothly that it's just unbelievably amazing. Our God is amazing!

I found myself in a similar predicament but with some tools. But interesting the two people nearby who helped me out were originally from Albania + India... and those are the two countries my two roommates are originally from 🤯☺️ a synchronicity of friendly help

Biggest thing people need and think they have are shoes you can walk 20 Miles a day in. Most think their shoes can until they try it.
Great idea maybe extra pair of socks too?gonna see if my hiking boots hold up without giving me blisters.
Been on this subject for myself testing different types of shoes for a couple months now. They can make or break you. Also your socks play a major part in this as well. Great shoes can be overrun by sweat and perspiration only to have your feet succumb to blisters. I found that Dickies make three different kinds of work socks that are the best Ive ever used and the most comfortable. I own 24 pairs.half max cushion and half are the lighter versions. Just thought I'd throw that out there

It's not an eclipse. I studied Astronomy for over 40 years, the last eclipse was in the 80's. None due for over 100 years from then.

A couple tips i have would be to keep travel size cans of aresol hairspray on hand if you dont have mace/pepper spray. You can get them at dollar stores, walmart , target etc. If you have to spray an intruder or someone about to attack you while youre out, imagine how painful and sticky hairspray is someone's eyes.
Another tip. If you havent stock piled water, clean and sanitize your bathtub if you have one then fill it with water as high as you can just before the eclipse. Leave it in there for the day if possible. I may drop a half or whole bleach tablet in it.. this water can be used for many things. But to be safe also buy some drinking water now or fill jugs up with your tap water for drinking now.
But # 1 thing. Have faith in God and pray.

Totality right over my house in this little county town. Everyplace closed, yet every where is having an Eclipse event of some kind. My family and I will be staying home. With 1000s of extra people expected in my one horse town it will be interesting to see how it goes.

I just got lost on a piece of land that I thought I was familiar with... I walked 26 miles out! And was totally unprepared! I live in a rural surroundings in Norway, so that in itself makes me feel a bit safe, but then again, Russia is very close to us. My son has helped me make a box with food and some things that is only for crazy times. He even bought me a gas mask :)

I have an Atlas Road map that is quite marked up! I've driven from Cheyenne to NC and back, To Tuscon Arizona and back with only that . Had a near heart attack in St. Louise, but managed😅. Gonna vist a friend only 40 min away but still taking my emergency bag as if i were going longer distance. Thanks for the info❤

Your comment about an EMP taking out modern flashlights got me thinking.
