One of my favorite things about improvising a solo each night is sometimes the audience becomes a part of the improvisation. Recorded 9/18/2022 with Sungazer in Atlanta.

Shoutout to DJ at Terminal West for the multi-track audio. This is a quick drum mix I did in the van on AirPods, with a little camera audio (DJI Osmo Pocket 2) mixed in as an audience mic.
Sorry it’s in vertical! Filmed for Instagram, reposting here. 🤷♂️ Видеоклипы
0:37 love the crowd reaction to playing nothing!!!!
"You have to listen to the notes [he's] not playing." -Lisa Simpson
as a drummer... that was one of the weirdest and unique drum solos I've seen. Love the originality!
the way you didnt hit that crash at 0:38 hit so hard
What a sick solo :D I loved going up in subdivisions under the audience's counting, that was awesome
My exact reaction to Shawn's solos
Sounds great, Shawn! Never seen this kind of audience reaction to a slowly-building drum solo before. So bummed that I missed this show.
He ASKED the audience to participate, kept them involved, and messed with them at every turn! That's a Sungazer audience right there, folks!!! Unafraid of a few time push/pulls and being appreciative for them. This is where music IS AT right now
This kit sounds freakin gorgeous. Only Shawn Crowder aka Shrowder turns a drum solo into a time keeping lesson. I even groaned audibly at that cymbal feint holy-
No one quite like you brotha. Keep going in your own direction. ❤
Drums solos are incredible with audience participation
Bruh, just discovered your channel. Holy**** man, love it!!!!
You play with such ease. You make it sound really hard and punchy without slamming the kit. I like that!
I was really ready for the beat displacement to trip the crowd up. I guess they were ready for it by then, wild! I was really surprised by how the crowd's expectations got developed through the solo. Neat to see you communicate that kind of idea so intentionally!
Listening at the start like "nothing's happening, what's the big deal hey wait a minute... oooohhhh."
Bro all the fake outs I love it
Definitely an exercise in keeping your count with all the people counting, seemed like a good show :)
Nice solo!
Audience participation baby!
love the guy at 2:57 literally scratching his head in confusion
So good!!!!
What a blast holy crap!
This was such an awesome moment that night, loved it.

I'm in ATL and didn't know about that show.
breaking the crowd's collective ankles but they pulled through as much as they could lol
Fucking phenomenal
Solid fuckin groove
Is your audiance mostly musicians :D
Didn’t know Benny Greb had a RUclips channel
That was rude, bro
I can hear brainwork of an audience
Love every second of it, lmao
What happened to the short posted the other day? I was wondering what song was in that

amazing.
wish the crowd would stop counting... are all sungazer shows like that?
They ask the crowd to count.
It just happened this time 🤷♂️
@@ShawnCrowder Cool!
This is like some Virgil donati shit (and better imo)
You completely lost me, but it looks like you all had fun. :)
lmao
The public doesn't know how to listen.
Thank you. Saw Jacob Collier live a little while ago and during one of his mind melting improvisations, during every single quiet moment, numerous dipshits would scream out at the top of their lungs or whistle. This is a relatively recent phenomenon where people don’t just sit down and absorb what’s going on but instead need to draw attention to themselves.
This sounds more like practicing in your rehearsal room, than an artistic statement. Its great as a technical exercise, but has no worth as a piece of art.
