  • Allison Transmissions. How To Check & Clear Trouble Codes Without A Scan Tool.
    In this video I have a Heavy duty truck with an Allison automatic transmission with a check transmission warning light on in the dash. I show you how to check and clear trouble codes without a scan tool. I also show you what to visually look for and common failure points that I have seen over the years that could be the cause of your check transmission light. It is an easy DIY that requires no expensive scan tools. Hopefully what I show in this video helps you save a lot of money. What should you check first? Watch and find out.

    Good Evening Shaner I have a 2015 Peterbilt 365 ready-mix truck with an Allison MH 1000 trans. I am told the the auto neutral feature was an option back in 2015. My truck does not go into auto neutral with the parking brake in engaged. Do you know if the above is true and how do I get the auto neutral feature to work so my truck will not take off when parking brake is engaged. Thank You

      Check for a fuse in the battery box. Allison likes to draw power from there. Check the fuse and connections for corrosion. It will look like an added on aftermarket fuse. Hope this helps let me know what you find. Thanks for watching.

      There should be a tag on the side of your transmission with a model number. If you look up on internet the code with the tranny model, you should find a manual with code descriptions. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

    You ever tried one of those cheap china clone nexIQ scan tool things? I got one off ebay and so far I like it the little I used it, it came with a bunch of pirated stuff and also included the allison stuff, hoping I can unlock 6th gear on mine at some point, you have any experience in unlocking 6th on these 3060s? I have one in a school bus converted to a motorhome. Thanks for the video btw, great to the point without drama and bumming, I like your style and will be watchin more ty.

    Hi:
    I have a 1991 fleetwood RV. It has a allison MD3060. It has reverse ok. Going forward is ok, for a few miles then it just does not go forward very much almost to the point of the engine dying out. Cummins repaired the motor and says the motor is ok. Anything I can do?
    Thanks
    Baldo

    • @shanersmechaniclife3164

      I would start with the basics. Are there any trouble codes? How is the transmission fluid level? Is it the proper fluid? ( should be transynd or equivalent) One thing I found was some of the computers get powered directly from the battery. Look in the battery box for any fuse holders and check them for loose fuses or corrosion as well as any other loose connections or corrosion. Hope this is helpful to you. Keep me posted with what you find.

      Some trucks have a fuse for the transmission in the battery box. Ran into that issue once. If I remember correctly it was a Sterling truck with an Allison. Let me know what you find.

    I have a Allison 3000 in my RV, The wire from the battery shows a 2.60 constant amp draw which kills my starting batteries in just a couple day, I left that wire disconnected and got check eng light with no input to transmission ecu and no trans control message, When i reconnected that wire message and light went away and trans control came back,, Any idea's on what to do next?

    • @shanersmechaniclife3164
      @shanersmechaniclife3164  5 месяцев назад +1

      The wire you disconnected is most likely the main power wire to the transmission ecm. If you leave it hooked up, are there any transmission trouble codes? That could lead you to where the draw could be. Keep me posted on what you find. Best of luck and thanks for watching.
