I just had a shift pad failure. Your video is helping me to diagnose and confirm the problem. The video is very to-the-point and helpful. I have a 1993 Monaco Dynasty with the MD3060 Allison and experienced erratic display behavior - including a "NoShift" message on the display and the idiot light on the dash. Then the display went dead and the resulting engine start failure, too. Luckily this occurred during my monthly start exercise and not while I was traveling. And the levelers won't go down because "neutral" isn't detected. A hive of issues, yes, but your video gives me hope. Thanks for the link to the Transmission Instruments website. The troubleshooting there will help me confirm shifter pad failure and perhaps a rebuild. Good job on this video!
Glad to hear. I had this trouble also when doing my monthly start of the rig. I usually check it out once a month and drive it also. Good exercise for the rv. It sure sounds like your power supply in the shift pad controller is failing as well as mine did. The team at transmission instruments were excellent in their work and knowledge. You really have 2 choices, either rebuild it or buy a newer used one somewhere on ebay or at a dealer that has been on the shelf for years. They still have to program the shift patterns in from your old one though. John at Transmission Instruments will do all that and check it out thoroughly. Mine was perfect after getting it back and we drove it to the Grand Canyon and hoover dam with no issues at all. Good luck and hoping for the best. Thanks for watching. Zach
@TignerAdventures Holiday Ramblers are some of the best built rvs. Back in their hay days, they were the cats meow! I very much enjoy our endeavor. I will try to make a few more intuitive videos on the rig. Thanks for watching!
@@hvaczach510 Sounds great. I subscribed so we will be here when you do. I pick it up the 1st week of Oct and will be doing some videos myself. Ours is a Navigator.
I will say this. John and his crew are good at what they do. There is alot that goes into rebuilding one nit just capacitors and a new transformer. He also re flashes the memory with the factory shift settings. I just took a trip to the grand canyon and hoover dam over 3000 miles and it shifted like a champ with no issues at all. I would highly recommend them to rebuild it.
@@Undersafav yes just follow the shipping instructions carefully. I would call also just to talk and let him know your sending it. He is very helpful and nice.
Fixed my 1994 dream from doing that. Its c41 can capacitor inside the ecu. Not the relay box not the shifter module. Id its like a 1uf 50volt capacitor. I replaced all the can capacitors just in case . Has like 4 or 5 4.7uf 25volt one 6uf 100. You have fewissues. ecu issue and the shifter module
@tryduck5571 I could have repaired the power supply in the shift pad module, but i did not have the tools and software to flash the shift patterns back into the memory of the module. It is reccomend to do that after the module throws the code. My rv had erratic shift paterns before the power supply failed, most likely due to the intermittent module power failures. It now shifts like a new rig. That WTEC shift controller means everything to the shifing of that Allison transmission. I'm glad you got it fixed! Thanks for watching.
small correction "OL" "70" is not oil life, that's measuring oil level, and 70 is a reading error, not hot, not running, not sitting long enough etc. OL OK is what you want, OL LO O3 is 3qt low.
My friend I'm going to watch all this video just letting you know. I went to a gas station and all of a sudden I got the gear shift! Are and it would not go into gear luckily I got home after toggling the key. I thought I would check transmission fluid but I can't even find the transmission fluid dipstick or Phil location
@jamesbondaygee depends on what kind of rig you have. If you have the same transmission and electronic shift pad, more than likely, you will have an Allison md3060 or 3050. Those were the popular choices for most of the manufacturers in the 90s. Let me know what ya got and what other issues your having. Thanks for watching!
@@hvaczach510 yes it's the md3060. I've looked at the error codes which are all saying failures at the solenoids. Luckily I found a guy to come out and help me.
This is about the Allison MD 3060 transmission the shifter you said you had somebody that rebuilt them and I thought you said you’re gonna put a link up I’m not very good with this stuff hopefully you get this
Hi Kyle, yes the web address is in the video description it is www.transmissioninstruments.com the guy who runs it is John. I had my WTEC II shift module rebuilt by him. That is the main push button shift controller. It stores all the shift patterns for your transmission. He did this for me in 2021 and I have taken the RV on several trips with no issues. I would highly recommend them for this repair. Normally the power supply is what fails on these, and it will not allow the transmission relay control module to work correctly. Good Luck!
Try using a hair dryer to heat up the bottom of the key pad unit. Its mounted under the key pad. Its called the WETC controller. You can also go to the website www.transmissioninstruments.com and follow the test procedures listed if you are electronically skilled. It sounds like it needs to be rebuilt.
Well i just sent it off about a week ago. Due to cost and weather i waited. We had the bad cold and ice in Texas, so i did t want to send it off until it was better for them and me. I have talked to John and he said i should recieve it within 2 weeks. I hope the video was helpful. I had to troubleshoot it on my own. I couldnt find any videos on the oroblem.
@@hvaczach510 Well I saw this video ruclips.net/video/lTOMw-haShQ/видео.html and I think it's just a re cap issue. New capacitor. Is that all John is doing? replacing a .30 cent capacitor?
@@BooBooGlue1 Well there are 3 power supplies in the unit. He recaps and repairs any issues with them. Also he has to re-flash the eprom chip. He stated, due to the age they can loose their ability to retain info or can be effected by the power supply failures. Each unit has the factory programming specs that are stored inside the eprom labled on them. He refreshes the eprom with those specs and testes them out. I thought of doing the work myself as i have done many power supply rebuilds with amateur radio gear, but i do not have the capability to reprogram the eprom chip if it happens to loose its programming.
@@BooBooGlue1 Yes, sorry for the late reply i haven't looked at my channel in a while. I got it back and took a trip to Az to the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam with the rv. It did awsome. No issues shifting or anything. In fact it worked better than it did when i bought it. John did an excellent job. Thanks for watching.
