- NOTE: I have been using this computer for 4 months now, not two...my bad.
I hope this video helps you if you are considering buying a refurbish product.
I have only bought from Apple so far but if you have bought from other store let me know in the comments. Also, thanks for watching!! :D
the refurbished products by Apple are top notch, all you miss out on is the actual box...😅😅
Definitely, and only the picture on the box because inside is the same 😄
@@strugglingbee yes 😅😅
Where can you get a refurbished macbook pro items?
@@jasoncrasco7615 You mean the laptop?. You can get it by typing on google: "apple refurbished store" and it will show you the website
Just got myself a refurbished MacBook pro 14" M2. Migrated all data from a 2015 13" MacBook seamlessly. Enjoying the new machine and happy with the $ savings
My original iPad Pro had the laminated screen peeling off from the chassis after 10 months of use, the display turned blue. I got a 1 for 1 replacement which turned out to be a refurb. I was so satisfied with this policy I asked the manager for more insight and this is what I found. Refurb is a mixture of devices traded in and rejected units by the customer due to any minor defect that may have been spotted upon opening at point of purchase. Both units will head back to a different assembly line, purportedly in South East Asia for a "touch up". They relaminate screens, buff off chassis irregularities, change batteries, change keyboard keys/buttons, clean etc. These units are then used as "replacement" units for Apple's device swap warranty. Instead of repairing "i" devices like iPad/iPhone/Airpods, they just give you the refurb unit to fulfill their warranty guarantee. Mac is different, they will open up and repair. So in essence, refurb items go through a second round of quality control checks because not everything that comes off the original assembly line is spotless. You end up getting IMO a higher quality product. This discovery made me appreciate Apple's business practices even more which really serves the customer. I was confident enough to get a refurb M1 MBA. Came with brand new cable, adapter and new battery(0 cycles). Can't complain 😊
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 thank you for sharing that amazing insight!. It is very helpful to know these things as this allows people to save some money after deciding going after these products. I saw a video of an influencer I love opening a new macbook and it came with a small damage. The first thing I thought was: that’s gonna be a refurbished!! 😄👌🏼
@@strugglingbee Let me guess... was it iJustine's Macbook Pro unboxing? Yeah she had some weird plastic peeling off near the display. That definitely goes back to the refurbished line for some needed glueing. 💧
@@sweealamak628 yes 😂😂😂 I love her
🤩 Ok! Im loving these kind of videos!! I feel educated!!!
Gracias! 😄😄
About a month ago I purchased both an Apple Watch Series 7 and M1 iPad Pro both refurbished and they’ve been incredible and if I didn’t know any better I could have been convinced that they were brand new lol great video also 👍🏼
Thank you!. Oh I was wondering about refurbished apple watches 🤔. Im not gonna lie, I had my doubts. Good to know they also work well and also look and feel brand new 👌
thank you soo much! your video is incredibly helpful
Aww thank you for watching!. Im glad you liked it! 😊🤗
140w power adapter is for 16" macbook pro with apple silicon m1 pro and m1 max. it carries over for 16" macbooks with m2 pro and m2 max as well. because the pro and max versions use more energy at full load, the power supply needs to support charging at higher wattages to make sure the battery doesn't decrease while it is working.
Got it! 👌
Thank you, this was an excellent video. Have been using Apple Computers since 1996, and always check their discount web sites (for education, for military members, and for veterans like myself) and their Certified Refurbished web site before buying an item. Also, you asked about Apple Care (3-year plan only) and yes, I have placed this on several of my Apple devices. Prior to 2010, I would never buy Apple Care because for computers (desktops and laptops) they either stop working properly within the first year of ownership (when they are always cover by the standard Apple warranty) or they would break around the fifth year of ownership (past the 3-year Apple Care period). However, now things are completely different iPads, iPhones, etc. are made oversees and computers ship with parts that are no longer up-gradable. So, the standard Apple Care 3-year plan makes a lot of since (smile...smile).
Thank you so much!. What branch?. Also, thank you for the insight with the apple care+. I have heard that Macs can be very expensive to repair if it brakes 🤕
@@strugglingbee Thank you, for relying to my post. I served in the U.S. Air Force for 7-years and left at the junior officer rank of Captain as an electronics engineering working on the Space Shuttle and other space projects. As for as the cost to repair an Apple computer system, after the first years warranty period both parts and labor normally cost about 25 percent of the price of buying a new model. So, the system is really designed to always get you to buy a newer version about every five (5) to seven (7) years (smile...smile).
@@transitengineer First of all, That’s awesome! and thank you for your service 🥇👏🏼. Second, thank you for even more insight 🤯. I had no idea 🙊It is really helpful, wow!
There are also two different flavors of AppleCare+. There’s the pay it all up front which is “cheaper” but it only buys you the 2 or 3 years of coverage that it comes with, and after that, it’s done. If you buy the pay-as-you-go version, it costs more for the same period of coverage, but you can just keep paying for it after the 2 or 3 years is up and you’ll still have the coverage. I think that since many people keep their MacBooks for quite a few years, this could be the better option for some people, especially if you bought one of the higher end models. It’s probably not worth it for one of the lower models though due to the co-pay amount for replacement vs. the amount you’ve paid for the coverage for however many years. (I would caveat that before you just take my word for it, make sure you ask someone at Apple to confirm this before you make your decision and plunk down your money. This was true at the time I checked with them about it, but that doesn’t mean it’ll never change.)
@@babybirdhome Yes, I agree with your comments 100 percent. Thank you, for providing "Struggling Bee" more complete and detailed information about the two (2) different versions of Apple Care. As stated in my post, I only buy the 3-year version of Apple Care bu, agree for some the lifetime monthly payment plan might work best (smile...smile).
Thank you so much for information. Helping me as a student
Im glad you found it useful!. Thank you for watching! 😊
A Great Review, Thank You
Glad it was helpful!
This is good information!! I’m thinking of going refurbish for my first time purchase of a Apple laptop.
I always use the Apple Care on all my Apple products!
Thanks for watching!. Cool!, let me know your experience after you buy it! 😃
Great video, great quality, thanks
Thank you so much! 😊
good deals on M1 MacBook Pro ..brand new
Awesome 🤩 😎 👏🏾 video
Thank you so much! ☺
Apple Care Plus is basically insurance. If there was a manufacturing defect, that is anyway covered under warranty, and you could return it for free. Unless you accidentally spill beverages on your laptop or crack the screen by letting things in when it’s closed, or other such damages, you don’t need insurance for laptop.
On the other hand, Apple has ID locked all the parts on the recent laptop models. Using working parts from other MacBooks may not work at all with your laptop hardware ID, or have important features disabled. So it makes more financial sense to get free* part replacement from Apple under the insurance, because they can set the hardware IDs.
Thank you for that insight!
Yes definitely get Apple Care, they take care of you. Also Apple really helps you with everything to do with hardware and software that runs on their products it doesn’t matter if the software is not Apple software they will still work with you to get it running. I have used Apple tech support on things that are not even covered by warranty and they still worked with me to get everything working perfectly, you can’t say that about too many companies now days at all. I’ve gone from a Apple hater to someone who recommends Apple products to everyone.
Oh wow!, good to know. Thanks for sharing! 😄
I bought refurbished iPhone in 2018. And I’m still using it without any faults.
Oh very nice! 👌🏼
It’s usually a good price. Unless you need it sealed in box to sell maybe.
I know it came with m1 max 16 inch the 140w. It's fast and worth it.
I buy Apple Care+ for every product I buy. In my mind, it's worth every penny knowing any problem will be covered.
and do you get the 3 year coverage or do you pay as you go?
140w charger comes standard in 16 inch models
very helpfull video tnx
I’m glad you found it helpful. Thanks for watching!
I will only ever buy Apple refurbished from the Apple website. It’s new just in a white box. Such an amazing value 😅.😊
I know right?! 👏🏼👏🏼
@@strugglingbee right
I just bought a refurbished M1 Macbook Air directly from Apple…. Couldn’t be happier
Thats awesome!. Right now that air is a sweet deal 👌🏼
If you're patient Best buy I've noticed they put MacBooks on sale regularly as well. I got a MacBook air M2 base model for $949 brand new. Like right now the base model M2 MacBook pro 14 is $1,799. The M2 air is $1049 , air M1 is $749.
Also Apple care is a must. I rather have the peace of mind.
That's awesome!. Thanks for sharing! ☺
I bought a 14 inch base model M1 MacBook Pro for £1,500 refurbished (but not from Apple). Only had it a few days but it has 100% battery health. It came with the 67W charger so that was a little annoying.
Congrats on the new laptop!. Try the 96W power adaptor if you don’t like your current one. It goes crazy fast!
@@strugglingbee Thank you! I definitely will! I’ll probably buy it when I get paid next. The 67W is fine for my workflow (general use - no photo/video/gaming work) but the MacBook Pro is a meaty laptop, even in base spec and it needs juice to run it
@@UCZ15 Excellent!. Yes the MacBook Is an amazing computer. I haven't heard the fans yet when editing 😄
Hi are there any differences in battery life between refurbished and new one?
Hi!. So far none. Mine has been working excellent. 👌🏼
❤❤❤❤
The only refurbished products I'll buy from is Apple directly. Even if it's the only reason that they treat them as new with giving you a one year warranty and the ability to buy apple care. And the warranty is from purchase NOT what's left like elsewhere.
After you buy apple care. It’s pretty much close to the same price as new. You just saving on taxes and a few bucks
Thanks for all the information absolutely loved the video, I have a suggestion for you. Although I liked the content you have posted I would advise you to change the name of your channel, With a name like "Struggling Bee" you will often end up having so much in mind but somehow you may end up facing delays in executing your plans, also alot of your ideas get shelved unnecessarily 🙏
Thank you for watching!. Yes, I think I will end up changing the name of the channel but right now I am still exploring a few things here and there... what delays my videos the most right now is my 9-5 hehe 😅. Hopefully I will be able to post more often very soon!. ☺
Thank you, I just thought of bringing it to your notice 🙏🙏🙏
@@ammitpchawda3610 Yes! and thank you, I appreciate it! ☺. When I change the name throw me a comment again and let me know what you think! 😄
@@strugglingbee Okies will do that too😁
I heard that apple refurbished macbook pro comes with a brand new battery
Yes they install a brand new battery :)
M1 Pro
Can I buy a renewed MacBook from Amazon or from Apple only?
You can get it from either or 😊
Ugreen Gan charger brick costs about £50 and has 3 usb c and 1 usb slot and supports 100 watt fast charging. Much better option than the Apple one.
Hey that looks fantastic!. Im gonna try that brand 👌🏼
@@strugglingbee good luck. Ugreen products are top notch and fraction of the cost of the Apple ones. Have a good weekend.
Any issues now? planning to buy one.
Not at all. So far so good!. 😃
Do you think it’s worth waiting for m3?
It really depends on what you have right now. If you have an M1 or M2 I wouldn't. The M3 will probably be what the M2 is for the M1 today.
Wait for M10 tbh
@@fightnight14 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yes. M3 is supposed to be a more significant improvement in power and efficiency compared to the minor improvement from M1 to M2. Id wait and see just how big the jump is before buying M2.
In the beginning of two minutes she is or may be waiting for her number to shower and after that she is ready with same idea in mind fresh
No way. I bought a refurb iPad from apple, the wifi and Bluetooth chip died after 7 months… And they only come with a 6 month warranty. I forked out $700 for that iPad and it didn’t even last a year. Apple said the chip is soldered to the board and to replace you may as well buy a new one. Last time I ever bought refurb
Directly from their website?
Did you buy it directly from the Apple Store?. If you buy it from a different store even though is an apple product, your experience can be different. Still I’m sorry you had that bad experience, those products are expensive. I would be really upset too 😢. I am planning to do a follow up of my refurbished products once I hit a year with it so let’s see how it goes.
How many cycles ?!
I checked a little too late after getting it. The battery was at 5 cycles when I first checked but I’ve already charged it 1-2 times at that point… so I would say maybe 3-4 cycles.
My M1 MacBook Air from Apple’s Certified Refurbished store came at 0 cycles so I think I got lucky with a new battery 😁 I am not complaining. Had no issues since purchasing it.
Mine came with none. And my other halves MBA M2 had 1.
Also, there is no need for fast chargers. The one that comes with it is fine
@@stopandsmelltheroses_98 Yes they give you a brand new battery. What Im thinking if it has some cycles in it maybe it means they tested it. I am really not sure 🤔
@@mvp_kryptonite Oh good to know. How fast?. I replaced mine immediately because of a recommendation and its crazy fast! (it takes about 30 mins, maybe less to fully charge the laptop). I would say it only really comes handy if you're traveling and need a super fast charge. But if you're at home it doesn't matter much. I should have mentioned that in the video 🤦♀
Regarding AppleCare+ protection, after the experiences with my M1 iPad Pro over the last year I will never go without that plan. Let me explain.
I bought the M1 12.9” iPad Pro (5th Edition) in March of 2022. Immediately, I noticed something in the lens of my front facing camera. The camera worked perfectly so I didn’t worry about. Then about 6 months later, when using that camera for a selfie, there was no image. The camera was completely blocked. Whatever it was covering the lens it seemed to have grown. I brought it to my local Apple dealer (Jump+, because the closest Apple Store is a 4 hour drive south) and they arranged a replacement. Thankfully, I had AppleCare+ and iCloud+ so everything went off without a hiccup (except for the 10 day wait 😳). So everything’s fixed, right? Umm, no. It happened again! When I got the replacement the camera lens was clear. About a month later a spot showed up in the lens housing. It didn’t affect the camera image so I watched and waited. The spot actually grew! When it was evident that it was going to start covering the lens I brought it in to Jump+. Again, the tech looked at it, sent it in and Apple replaced it (7 days this time, but still 😳). This third iPad has been spot free since April of this year but I still watch and worry. 7 days without my iPad and I get shaky.
Long story short … the $3,000 iPad i bought (yes, CDN taxes are a bitch) was replaced twice for an upfront cost of $159.00 + tax. Each time Jump+ threw in a screen protector … only because they are good people, not because it was owed to me.
I will never, ever, purchase an apple product without AppleCare+ protection.
Omg! 🙊 good to know!. Thanks for sharing your experience!. Also, I feel you with the CAD taxes. I felt it with my laptop hehe 😅
nice video
Thank You!
